1. I used Final Cut Pro X
to edit our film
opening, it was my
first time properly
using the program. I
learnt how to make
an edit look cleaner
through fades and
blurs after mastering
the basics of cutting
and continuity
This is dafont.com,
the website I used
to find the font for
our titles. We used YouTube to find
copyright and royalty free
soundtracks for our film
I learnt how to make a
Mahara journal look better
by developing my
knowledge on the page
layouts.
I used
GarageBand to
attempt to
create some
scary beats to
use for
dramatic
moments in our
film, but we
decided that
they didn’t look
right.
I used voice memos to
record Foley sound and
learnt how to create a
realist sound
2. Camera and tripod
I had only used this equipment before when filming the prelim task and Arlington
Road, so going in the main task filming I was fairly inexperienced at using the
tripod and camera. I learnt how to use the zoom feature on the camera and how
to check if the tripod is stable from carrying out the main task filming.
I also learn how to use the handle feature on the tripod to get a smooth panning
shot. Finally I learnt how to change the camera battery and how to preview
previously shot clips.
3. iMac
• This photo is of the Apple iMac our group used to edit our final task on. Prior to
the task I had fairly minimum experience using an iMac so I was really just
getting used to all the different keyboard shortcuts such as how to take
screenshots. As I did a fair amount of editing for our group I soon picked up the
basics of using a Mac to edit, which is surprisingly simple. I learnt the basics of
Final Cut Pro X and even went on to creating a three frame split screen edit for
our final cut.
4. Voice memos
• This is an Apple iPhone which we recorded our Foley
sound in post production with. I had previously used the
voice recording feature on an iPhone before so it wasn’t a
very complicated feature. However this was my first
experience within recording Foley sound which I learnt
how to achieve by experimenting with different sounds
so that it looked realistic.
