2. Final Cut Pro
This was the first time me using final cut
pro and I found that at the beginning I
didn't’t know how to work any of the
program but now that we have been on it,
I am able to use it more efficiently.
When we first started I had no idea how to
work Mahara and this caused problems with
my work as I didn't’t really know what I was
doing. Now that I have a basic knowledge of
Mahara I now know how to use it.
We use Freesound as a
way to look for music
that would match our
opening. Although we
did not use one of the
sounds from this website
it still gave us the
necessary research and
idea on what we actually
wanted for our opening.
Voice memos was the app that we used to record
Foley sound that we wanted within our opening.
As this was the first time for me with using this
app I had to test certain sounds to see what it
came out like.
We used Youtube for finding
inspiration for what sounds
we wanted to help build up
the atmosphere within our
opening. We used a royalty
free track, but because it
sounded too much like jaws
we cut certain parts of it
and left the parts that
created more tension and
matched with what was
going on within the scene.
I had never used GarageBand before,
so it was really a struggle to try and
work it. But after playing around
with the sounds I found that it
actually is rather straight forward if
you know where all of the sounds
are. Although we did not use what
we tried to create as it didn’t really
fit with the opening it was still
something that I had learnt.
Art of the title is one of the websites that
we used to look at titles so that we could
get an idea on where we should place
them to fit our genre. By using art of the
title I think that it helped a lot and gave
us something to use as inspiration
towards our own titles.
3. This is the imac that we used to edit our opening scenes.
What I learnt with this was how to use finale cut pro and how to
basically operate the imac.
After a while of playing around I seemed to get the hang of things
with the imac, but at the beginning I was struggling because I had
never worked on a imac and apple so I found it very difficult.
Throughout working on our opening I have learnt how to put a filter
onto a specific frame on the timeline, how to cut and shorten frames,
how to manually edit the colour of a frame and how to place
sounds/music onto the timeline and make them blend together.
Although in our opening the lighting is different within each frame it
was the closet that we were able to get it to as all the frames had
different exposures, which made it very diffiucult and time
consuming to edit.
We also found that with the filter that we used for the rough cut
didn’t actually work all that well, so we decided to just use the colour
correction within the frames to change the lighting to make it more
suitable for the scenes.
Compared to what I knew before I started this media product I have
learnt a lot that I will be able to use in the future and on more
projects.

4. The first photo is they camera tripod that we used
to film our opening. To use it you have to unclip
the legs so that it can become higher to film
higher angles. As I am a photography student I
already know how to handle this equipment and
how to work it. The long handle on the tripod is to
move the camera holder so that you can do
panning shots with ease. What I did learn was that
to make sure that everything is secured properly
so that whilst moving the equipment wont fall and
brake.
The second photo is of the camera that we used t
film our opening. There was also a battery
towards the right bottom side just in case we ran
out of battery whilst filming. As I do photography
I am aware of the equipment and how to handle
and work the camera. At the beginning of the
filming we all had a try with filming on the
camera as we wanted to see how it works and to
get the feel of what it would look like.

5. This is the phone that we used to take the voice memos for some of
the Foley sound within our opening. All we had to do was go on voice
memos and create the sound and record it, then import it onto the
imac. What I found whilst recording was that if there was any
background noise it would pick it up, so it had to be done in silence, I
also found that if you hold it too close to the noise then it will become
unclear, muffled and static. As this was my first time using voice
memos I tried a bunch of different sounds at the beginning to se what
it sounded like and whether or not we could do something that would
make it better.
