3. CameraDSLR650EOS
We used the Canon DSLR 650 EOS to film compared
to our preliminary task where we used flip cameras.
Using the Canon DSLR 650 EOS allowed us to get
high quality shots and movements with appropriate
camera angles. The thriller opening was filmed in
HD quality, making the outcome very professional
and clear with no cracks in the sound. We were
able to take a variety of shots of the antagonists
point of view of the protagonist which creates
suspense and creates tension.
Although the quality was good, the battery life only
lasted around 2 hours. Which limited to 16GB
memory when filming due to the memory card.
And therefore we had a spare just in case.
From the use of the camera, I have learnt how to
use it and how important it is to use the camera to
the best of my ability, to create the shots used in
the final product to conform to the thriller genre.
4. OmitTripod
The Omit Tripod was very easy to
use and to put away into a compact
bag and unfolds into a large tripod.
The tripod kept the camera steady
and gave us the chance to do the
panning shots smoothly.
We were able to transfer the camera
to the next location due to the fast
release cap.
Although the tripod was useful and
handy, sometimes the handle was
stiff and therefore it was quite hard
to create clean and smooth shots at
times.
5. FlipCamera
From previously having to use the flip camera
in our preliminary task, we were able to
evaluate the differences between the flip
camera and the Canon. An advantage of the
flip camera compared to the Canon is that it's
built with a USB in and therefore, we would
not loose our data whereas with the Canon it
has an SD card and we could easily loose our
footage if we did not import it into the
computer.
The quality of the camera was not suitable to
create our thriller opening because of how
unprofessional our thriller would look.
Moreover, the flip camera screen is only 1.5
inches which means that we would not be
able to see everything. Moreover, the Sound
quality recorded was not the best.
7. Blogger
Blogger has played a major part of the
creation and enhancement of our thriller
opening.
Blogger was a new element of technology
that I had not used previously. So it was a
new technology for me.
Blogger allowed us to document all of the
construction posts in creation of our
thriller opening and its compatibility with
Google and YouTube made it easy to
upload work.
Blogger is simple when you get the hang
of it but it is difficult if you're a beginner.
8. iMac
Using the iMac and it's software it made
the our thriller opening look professional
and compared to a normal pc. we would
be limited with the different resources
such as iMovie and as well as this, the
quality of an iMac is very good. This
meant that we were able to get every
little detail of our thriller opening and the
high quality assured us that our footage
would be safe as long as we imported.
The iMac automatically auto saves your
work. For example, we had a little
problem when we were editing as the
computer crashed and we thought we lost
all our work, when it was saved once the
computer turned back on.
9. FinalCutPro
We made our thriller opening using Final Cut
Pro and it was more professional compared to
an old program such as Movie Maker and the
use of editing tools in Final Cut Pro enabled us
to combine our clips together which allowed
us to create continuity.
Final Cut Pro was very successful for the
editing of our opening because of it's HD
quality and different Titles and Transitions
because, there are many to choose from to
make it look professional.
The program differs from simple movie
makers like iMovie and Windows Movie
Maker and therefore we used it as the source
of editing for our opening.
Although using the Final Cut Pro was very
successful, it was very difficult to use because
of all the extra tools that it contained which
was very complicated. Which meant that we
had to carefully cut footage in care so that we
don't cut too much of it or all.
10. iMovie
iMovie was very frequently used
throughout the task and in contrast
of using iMovie and Final Cut Pro,
it is easier to edit footage on
iMovie due to the navigation as it's
simpler and easy to locate.
However, the iMovie transitions
and title fonts are plain whereas
Final Cut Pro has a variety of
different fonts and titles to use and
it made our thriller opening very
professional.
11. You
YouTube is very easy to upload videos
and view content.
We found that YouTube was very
important in this task as it is where the
opening is uploaded and where i have
used it to do some of the evaluation
questions.
There are very useful tools to use when
uploading videos onto YouTube, for
example, the annotation tool was
helpful when I had to discuss different
shots, edits, settings and the sounds
that are in the opening.
