1. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE
PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THIS
PRODUCT?
2. - Canon DSLR 65D
- Camera Lens
- Tripod
- Microphone
- Lighting suitable to the filming of our opening
THE EQUIPMENT WE USED TO
FILM OUR OPENING:
3. CANON DSLR 65D
Positives:
- We were allowed to manually set the focus so that the quality
of our opening was much clearer and easier for the audience
to view.
- The camera was small in size which meant it was easier for
the camera man to do hand-held shots and just move it
around in general.
Negatives:
- For some reason at random times our camera would just take
random shots. This is probably just a faulty in our particular
camera however it was quite time consuming as it happened
quite regularly and we would have to delete them
- The camera life was quite short meaning we had to be quick
with our filming.
4. CAMERA LENS
Positives:
- The camera lens could be adjusted with ease which made
it easier to zoom in and out whenever we wanted.
- We could also use the camera lens to adjust the focus
which was handy.
Negatives:
- Sometimes the lens could get dirty and we would need to
clean it as it could affect the quality of the film.
5. MICROPHONE
Positives:
- Using the microphone meant that the sound was much
better quality making it seem more professional. Also
using the microphone meant that we could get rid of any
background sound that we didn’t want.
- It was very easy to position the microphone on top of
the camera
Negatives:
- In some of our scenes the background sound wasn’t
completely cut out meaning that we had to edit it out
ourselves.
6. LIGHTING
Positives:
- The bright light we used for our filming worked well as we could use it to shine
onto the names of the woman on the wall to make them stand out.
- Also because the setting in which our opening was set in was very dark it meant
that we had to use the light to shine onto the antagonist which was very affective
as it made him seem more creepy and unknown.
Negatives:
- However one problem that we encountered with the bright light was the amount
of shadows that it produced. For example when we shined the light onto the girls
names on the wall we had to make sure that the antagonist wasn’t close as his
shadow would also appear on the wall.
7. For the editing process of our opening we used a number of different
programs, these included:
- Final Cut Pro
- IMac
EDITING
8. FINAL CUT PRO
Positives:
- Final Cut Pro was a brilliant program that allowed us to
get all the different clips from our camera and put them
into order for the opening. We could then edit them in
anyway we wanted and it was very easy to do.
- Before this project I had never used this program and to
be honest it was quite easy to get used to and it didn’t
take long for me to feel comfortable with the program.
Negatives:
- One issue that we had was that for some reason our
opening started on the 20th second which was annoying as
we had to drag all of our clips back to the start where we
wanted them.
9. IMAC
Postitives:
- The Imac had loads of different programs meaning the
whole experience from editing our opening to uploading on
our blogs a much easier task.
- We didn’t actually have to save our edited work on final cut
pro as the Imac AutoSaved it for us. This was good because
if it didn’t autosave we may accidently forget to save the
work and all of the work would be deleted.
Negatives:
- We had a problem on blogger where sometimes the uploads
wouldn’t load up meaning that we couldn’t edit or view our
work which was an issue.
10. I have learnt a lot during the editing process. One thing I have learnt is how to use final cut pro to produce to short
film, before this project I had never used final cut pro but now I am confident that I know how to use it and produce a
good short film, I now know how to insert pictures and music and I also know how to add all the special effects to
make the film more interesting. I have also learnt how to make an effective production and distribution logo and
import it onto final cut pro to use in the film.
