2. What is heaven?
The abode of God, the angels, and the spirits of the righteous after death; the
place or state of existence of the blessed after the mortal life.
Heaven, seven heavens, Jannah, or The Summerland, is a common religious
cosmological, or transcendent place where beings such
as gods, angels, jinn, saints, or venerated ancestors are said to originate,
be enthroned, or live. According to the beliefs of some religions, heavenly
beings can descend to earth or incarnate, and earthly beings can ascend to
Heaven in the afterlife, or in exceptional cases enter Heaven alive
Heaven is described primarily in physical terms as a place where every wish is
immediately fulfilled when asked.
3. Heaven is often described as a "higher place",
the holiest place, a Paradise, in contrast to Hell or
the Underworld or the "low places", and universally or
conditionally accessible by earthly beings according to
various standards of divinity, goodness, piety, faith, or
other virtues or right beliefs or simply the will of God. Some
believe in the possibility of a Heaven on Earth in a World to
Come.
4. Egyptians point of view about heaven
In Ancient Egyptian religion, belief in an afterlife is much more stressed than in
ancient Judaism. Heaven was a physical place far above the Earth in a "dark
area" of space where there were no stars, basically beyond the Universe.
According to the Book of the Dead, departed souls would undergo a literal
journey to reach Heaven, along the way to which there could exist hazards and
other entities attempting to deny the reaching of Heaven.Their heart would finally
be weighed with the feather of truth, and if the sins weighed it down their heart
was devoured.
5. Sikh Religion
As per Sikh thought, Heaven and Hell are not
places for living hereafter, they are part of spiritual
topography of man and do not exist otherwise. They
refer to good and evil stages of life respectively and
can be lived now and here during our earthly
existence
6. Bible description of heaven
The word “heaven” is used in three basic senses in the Bible:
(1) the physical heavens;
(2) the spirit realm; and
(3) a symbol of a high or exalted position.
7. The physical heavens
In this sense, “the heavens” refers to earth’s
atmosphere, where the winds blow, the birds fly, the
clouds produce rain and snow, and the lightning
flashes.
8. The spirit realm
The term “heaven” also refers to the spiritual
heavens, or spirit realm, a level of existence higher
than and outside of the physical universe
9. A symbol of a high or exalted position
The Scriptures use “heaven” to represent an elevated position, usually in
connection with ruling authority.
Such a position could be occupied by:
God himself as the almighty Sovereign.
people who, while on earth, have the hope of going to heaven.
10. What is heaven like?
All things are new
No tears or pain
there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no
more pain, for the former things have passed away"
Perfect peace
"The wolf and the lamb shall feed together. They shall not hurt nor destroy
11. Houses and vineyards
"They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat
their fruit“
Fruitful gardens
"The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, and the desert shall
rejoice and blossom as the rose"
12. The New Earth as heaven
Real earth, real houses, gardens, hobbies, loved ones, are all part of the perfect
future life in store for those who are faithful to God’s Word. This becomes more
believable when we realize that the Bible says that the greater part of the future
existence of human beings will take place right here on our planet earth, which
will be recreated and restored to its original perfection. This life will be free from
sickness, war, crime and anything harmful. The future life will have the best of
this life plus additional joys beyond our imagination.
