5. THE SECRET HIDDEN BEFORE TIME BEGAN (1)
1 Corinthians 2:6-8
“We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not
the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to
nothing. No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been
hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the
rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have
crucified the Lord of glory.
Dear readers,
I hope you had a blessed week.
Last week in my introduction, I promised to start sharing with you a
sermon entitled “Why is Jesus our only Savior?”
Have you ever asked yourself why believers say that Jesus is their only
Savior?
Can’t there be any other who they can call a Savior?
I would like to clarify this to you deeply after learning from my Bishop.
However, for you to understand better the answer to this question, allow
me to first tell you about “The Secret Hidden before Time Began.”
Dear readers,
You know well about Adam and Eve, right?
Adam and Eve were tempted by the serpent in the Garden of Eden.
They then disobeyed the command of God and ate from the tree of the
Knowledge of good and evil because they had the desire to be like God in
their mind.
6. As a result, they and all their descendants became sinners.
From a human being’s perspective, Adam and Eve are thought to have
been miserable because they were driven out of the Garden of Eden and
would have to go to the way of death.
Spiritually speaking, however, it is an amazing blessing of God since they
will get the chance to enjoy salvation, eternal life and heavenly blessings
through Jesus Christ.
Through the human cultivation, the secret that has been hidden for your
glory before the beginning of time, was revealed and the way of salvation
was opened wide to all nations.
Let us delve deeper into the secret that had been hidden before time
began and how the way of salvation has been opened.
When God created Adam, He gave him the authority to rule over all things.
After Adam sinned he could no longer have the authority he had in the
beginning.
According to the spiritual law, the authority was handed over to the devil.
Brothers and sisters,
How then was Adam’s authority handed over to the devil?
In Luke 4:5-6, we find the devil tempting Jesus who had just finished a 40-
day fasting.
It says, “The devil led Him up to a high place and showed Him in an instant
all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to Him, “I will give You all the
authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to
anyone I want to.””
The devil said that he would hand over the authority to Jesus because he
had been handed over it from someone.
Why did God, who governs all things, allow authority to be handed over to
the devil?
7. It says in Genesis 1:28, “God blessed them and said to them, “be fruitful
and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of
the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves
on the ground.””
Adam received the authority and power to manage and rule over all things
from God.
He was the lord of all things but after a long time, he and his wife were
deceived into eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil by
the crafty serpent.
Through this, he committed a sin of disobedience to God.
Romans 6:16 says, “Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to
someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey-
whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which
leads to righteousness?”
If one commits sins, he/she becomes a slave to sin and will be led to
death.
If you obey the word of righteousness, however, you become a slave to
righteousness and you will enter Heaven.
Adam committed a sin of disobedience to God and became a slave to sin.
So he could no longer have all the authority and power that God had given
him.
He had to hand over the authority and power to the devil just as all
possessions of a slave belong naturally to his master.
In short, Adam handed over his authority and power that God had given
him to the devil because he sinned and became a slave of sin.
Adam’s disobedience resulted in sins of all men.
It caused him and all his descendants to serve the devil as slaves and to be
doomed to death.
Dear readers,
8. What then must people do to be set free from Satan and the devil and be
saved from sins and death?
Some say, “God forgives everyone unconditionally because God is love. He
abounds in compassion and mercy.”
However, 1 Corinthians 14:40 says, “But everything should be done in a
fitting and orderly way.”
God does everything in an orderly manner according to the law of the
spiritual realm.
God does nothing against the spiritual law because He is the God of justice
and fairness.
In the spiritual realm, there is a law to punish sinners, saying, “The wages
of sin is death.”
Also, there is a law to redeem sinners.
This spiritual law should be applied to recover the authority Adam had
handed over to the devil.
Then, what is the law of the redemption of sinners?
It is the law of the redemption of the land recorded in the Old Testament.
God is omniscient.
He knows the beginning and the end of everything.
Even before creating Adam, he knew Adam would sin.
In this way, even before the beginning of time, God the Father had
prepared in secret the way of human salvation according to this law of the
redemption of the land.
Let’s take a look into this law.
It is God’s command to the Israelites in Leviticus 25:23-25.
It says, “The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine
and you are but aliens and my tenants. Throughout the country that you
hold as a possession, you must provide for the redemption of the land. If
9. one of your countrymen becomes poor and sells some of his property, his
nearest relative is to come and redeem what his countryman has sold.”
Every piece of land belongs to God and must not be sold permanently.
If somebody sold his land because of his poverty, God allowed him or his
nearest relative to buy back the sold land.
This is the law of the redemption of the land.
The people of Israel draw up the land contract certificate according to the
law of redemption of the land not to sell the land permanently, when they
sell and buy the land.
The seller and buyer write down detailed contents of the land of the land
contract on the certificate so that the seller or his nearest relative can
redeem it sometime later.
They make a copy of it and stamp both of their seals on the two contracts
in front of two or three witnesses.
One contract is sealed and kept in a warehouse of the holy temple.
The other contract is kept in an entrance room, opened and unsealed.
The law of the redemption of the land allows the seller and his nearest
relative to redeem the land at any time.
Then, how does the Law of the redemption of the land relate to Human
Salvation?
Why did God prepare the way of human salvation according to the law of
the redemption of the land?
Genesis 3:19 and 23 show that the law of redemption of the land has a
direct connection with the salvation of mankind.
Genesis 3:19 says, “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until
you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are
and to dust you will return.”
Genesis 3:23 says, “So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of
Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.”
10. God said to Adam after his disobedience, “You are dust and you will return
to dust.”
Here “dust” symbolizes men who have been formed from dust.
Therefore, men return to dust after death.
The law of the redemption of the land in Leviticus 25:23-25 says that all
lands are God’s and must not be sold permanently.
These verses mean that all men made from the dust of the land belong to
God and cannot be sold permanently.
It also indicates that no authorities and power of Adam had received from
God in the Garden of Eden could be sold permanently because they
belonged to God.
Adam’s authority was handed over to our enemy Satan and the devil but
he who is proper for redeeming Adam’s lost authority could restore it from
the enemy the devil.
Likewise, the God of justice destined a perfect redeemer according to the
Law of redemption of the land.
That redeemer is the Savior of all men.
It is Jesus Christ!
Then why is it Jesus and no any other?
We will look into this deeper in the next session.
Dear readers,
In this session, I explained to you how Adam’s authority was handed over
to the devil.
I also told you about the Law of the redemption of the Land and how it is
connected to Human Salvation.
Through this message you could realize that God had prepared your
salvation even before the first man, Adam came to be.
11. This is God’s great love to us because He didn’t want us to fall into the way
of death in which we were destined to.
It is just as John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal
life.”
I hope that you will always embrace this great love of God in your heart
always and come closer and closer to the LORD your Father.
May you become slaves of righteousness and gain eternal life rather than
be slaves of sin and gain death, in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, I
pray!
AMEN!!!
