Sysco Corporation

Salary: 85,000.00 USD Per Year

Senior Manager - Manufactured Grocery
Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
In 1992 I became a Marketing Associate with what then was called Hallsmith-Sysco,
located in Norton, Massachusetts. In three short years, my business grew from zero to
more than $1 million dollars annually. Toward the end of my tenure, I was asked to train
my peers on the topics of FOCUS and HOW TO SELL VALUE ADDED PRODUCTS.
In 1996 I was promoted to Northeast Region Manager of Sysco Premium Oils, where I
managed the growth of the category at 13 Sysco companies in 15 US states and
Washington, D.C. My duties were to train and mentor Sysco sales personnel, personally
sell on the street and at numerous Sysco trade shows, analyze and create reports to
convince the Sysco companies' senior and middle management of the importance and
urgency of growing this very profitable segment of their business. Quickly, I became a
highly requested trainer / product presenter, at all 13 Sysco operations.
The use of these reports also allowed me to show senior management that increased sales
of these products would not only increase profits and margins, but would also lower their
operating costs as well as the operating costs of their customers.
When promoted to Sysco's Corporate headquarters (Houston, Texas) in 1999, I started
with product development, training, sales and quality assurance of mayonnaise, salad
dressing, flavored dressings / dips, pan coatings and soup bases.
Over the years, my responsibilities grew to include; Shortening, butter alternatives, pasta
and seafood.
My responsibilities were similar to those listed above, but the geographic region
expanded to all of North America.
My analytic and reporting skills were highly sought by Sysco Corporation's senior
management.
All segments experienced growth at the expense of our competition.
Analyzed reports and industry information which helped me to maintain my recognition
as an expert.
Kept current on rapidly changing technology, which made me the "go to guy" for
anything related to those technologies.

Sales Representative
Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
During the first six years, my responsibilities were to receive all customer's orders, on
paper forms or via phone, from our sales force, accurately key the orders into our one and
only IBM computer, generate logistic information used to load trucks and route
deliveries. I also worked part time in the retail store, greeting customers, answering their
questions and filling small orders. Before going to the order processing work, I worked in
the warehouse, receiving deliveries and securing the facility at the end of normal business
hours. After training several folks to take over the order processing duties, I spent one
year as Credit Manager, collecting money, and most importantly, solving a financial
security gap.
My last three years were spent as a member of the Thomsen sales team, where I rapidly
rose to the top, being the first Thomsen sales representative to sell more than $20,000 in
one week. That was a big deal, back then. When Thomsen moved into frozen and
refrigerated foods, I was the first of the group of ten to sell at least one product in every
category, which took approximately one week.

Sergeant
Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
After completing Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio,
Texas, I was sent to Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado for training to be an
Inventory Management Specialist (645x0).
My permanent duty station was Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Arkansas,
where my first responsibilities were with the 314th Supply Group, in the Demand
Processing Center. The duties of the Demand Processing Center were to process orders,
mostly for C-130 Hercules aircraft parts, via a phone bank and a radio. The orders were
hand written and key punched into a Teletype Model 33 ASR that was attached to a
UNIVAC 1050-II computer. Invoices were printed and sent to the warehouse for delivery
to the flight line. When working nights and weekends, it was my responsibility to monitor
and maintain the temperature and humidity of the room containing the UNIVAC 1050-II.
After a year of order processing, I was assigned to analyze the computer's "Daily Reject
List", meet with the personnel responsible for the errors, record detailed notes and deliver
the notes to the Master Sergeant in charge of clearing the errors.
My final duties with 314 Supply was with War Readiness Spares Kits (WRSK)air-
transportable collections of spare parts and related technical items, stored and maintained
to provide initial support upon deployment. Three months of my WRSK service were
performed as temporary duty at Royal Air Force Mildenhall or RAF Mildenhall located
near Mildenhall in Suffolk, England.
My last year of service was in Recreation Supply with Morale, Welfare and Recreation.
My duties were to requisition supplies, monitor inventory levels, issue and receive
supplies and equipment, make deliveries to various locations around the base, make
minor repairs to supplies and equipment and maintain building cleanliness and security.
I served with Security Police, for three months, guarding the flight line. My job was to
verify the badges / security clearances of everyone entering and exiting the secured area.

In 1996 I was promoted to Northeast Region Manager of Sysco Premium Oils, where I managed the growth of the category at 13 Sysco companies in 15 US states and Washington, D.C. My duties were to train and mentor Sysco sales personnel, personally sell on the street and at numerous Sysco trade shows, analyze and create reports to convince the Sysco companies' senior and middle management of the importance and urgency of growing this very profitable segment of their business. Quickly, I became a highly requested trainer / product presenter, at all 13 Sysco operations. The use of these reports also allowed me to show senior management that increased sales of these products would not only increase profits and margins, but would also lower their operating costs as well as the operating costs of their customers. When promoted to Sysco's Corporate headquarters (Houston, Texas) in 1999, I started with product development, training, sales and quality assurance of mayonnaise, salad dressing, flavored dressings / dips, pan coatings and soup bases. Over the years, my responsibilities grew to include; Shortening, butter alternatives, pasta and seafood. My responsibilities were similar to those listed above, but the geographic region expanded to all of North America. My analytic and reporting skills were highly sought by Sysco Corporation's senior management. All segments experienced growth at the expense of our competition. Analyzed reports and industry information which helped me to maintain my recognition as an expert. Kept current on rapidly changing technology, which made me the "go to guy" for anything related to those technologies. I also worked part time in the retail store, greeting customers, answering their questions and filling small orders. Before going to the order processing work, I worked in the warehouse, receiving deliveries and securing the facility at the end of normal business hours. After training several folks to take over the order processing duties, I spent one year as Credit Manager, collecting money, and most importantly, solving a financial security gap. My last three years were spent as a member of the Thomsen sales team, where I rapidly rose to the top, being the first Thomsen sales representative to sell more than $20,000 in one week. That was a big deal, back then. When Thomsen moved into frozen and refrigerated foods, I was the first of the group of ten to sell at least one product in every category, which took approximately one week.
