Type of image : They are doing the
podcast at a studio. The angle is focused
on the middle so the audiences can focus
on the speakers. The effects used are
sound effects such as sudden bang and
eery laughter of an old woman as it was a
Halloween special
Use of lighting : The lighting was organised by
focusing on the speakers face, so that the audiences
could see their facial expression. The scenes was
pretty basic and for most of the time the framing is
focused on those three but at times they do have a
solo shot when they're telling they're own personal
stories. The costumes of those speakers are normal
casual clothes as it was an informal setting. The props
that were used are the candle to kind of give a
Halloween vibe to it, a MacBook to kind of telling the
audience that he is the DJ. A pillow to set a friendly
mood and a pair of sunglasses to kind of show his
personality as being the good fashionable guy. The
colours used are bright and striking colours such as
pink, red and stripes. They also manipulate the white
balance on the camera by making the scene appeared
Cooler and cloudy because they want to make it
seems eery and scary. The mise en scene on this
podcast was perfect as from the props to the story
telling. The editing was smooth and from the
beginning till the end it wasn’t awkward. The
positioning of the speakers are great as well, the left
one is alone which kind of showing that he’s the
moderator of the conversation and the other two on
the right are just people who reply to his questions.
Audience appeal : What makes it
appealing is that the stories told were
relatable and the setting of the whole
scene was casual and friendly vibe
towards the audience.

Type of image : The location
was at a recording studio. The
angle of the scene is in the
middle so that the audiences
can focus on both speakers but
at times there will be solo shots
depends on who was speaking
at that time. There were no
effects involve in this specific
episode on the podcast.
Use of lighting : The lighting is focused in the middle and it
was above both speakers to illuminate the speakers’ faces..
The costumes that the speakers are wearing are casual
normal clothes. The props used are normal household items.
The colours portrayed on the podcast were dark toned
colours such as black, soft pink, wood and maroon from the
bricks. They used all those elements to make the audiences
more comfortable and basically sending a message that the
discussion between the two speakers will be casual and with
a friendly tone. Moreover, with the lighting, props and the
clothes the producers want to make the audiences picture
the discussion is happening at someone’s basement. With
this, the audiences will feel more relaxing as if they are there
listening to the discussion at their own basement in their
own house. They audiences will feel more relaxed and can
even enjoy the podcast while eating dinner or while drinking
coffee. The mise en scene of the podcast was perfect
especially about the speakers arrangement. The speakers
faces each other which makes the discussions more
interesting.
Audience appeal : Podcast should be enjoyable. It is also somewhat similar to radio but
some radios discussions are serious discussions that includes politics finance and etc. But
for instance, the Joe Rogan podcast able to create an entertaining, relaxing and comfortable
podcast for people to enjoy while relaxing even when the discussions are serious

Type of image : The
location that the podcast
was recorded was at a
studio. The angle where the
camera is positioned at was
at the middle. With this,
audiences can focus on
those 4 speakers rather
than just one.
Use of lighting : The lighting is centred and shines to
the speakers’ faces. The tables as well are lit up and
this will make the studio looks trendy and fun to look
at. The costumes that the speakers are wearing are
casual normal clothes. Which depicts that the whole
conversation/discussion will be in an informal tone and
in a friendly setting. The props used are microphones
and a few decorative items that can be seen on the
shelves. The colours used are mostly black and red
which maybe their signature colour and kind of stands
out from other podcasts.
Audience appeal : Those speakers came from a
YouTube background and they do have fame in their
name which may be the main factor on why the
podcast was successful. They also talk about hot
topics among the youth where the younger
generations can relate and find interest in.

The Howard Stern Show
Type of image : They recorded the
podcast at a recording studio. The
angle of the camera is slightly above
the speakers which kind of give the
audiences the panoramic of the studio
and the speakers.
Use of lighting : The lighting at the studio
is good as seen in the picture the studio is
pretty well lit. The props Used on the set
are computers, microphones, headsets
and a laptop. The colours that are used on
this are red, blue, black and woody.
Audience appeal : The radios talk about
viral topics and trending issues in
America. This maybe the only factor on
why people tune in to his podcast/radio
show.

Research Evaluation
Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research.
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
• Strength = To be able to see the common things done by podcast shows that made
it successful and replicate/use them on mine.
• Weakness = Too time consuming as I need to explore each podcasts shows and find
things in common such as theme, costume, tone and props.
– Questionnaires
• Strength = Can get opinions from people about the product. With this I can get
direct answers and can use it as reference to improve the product.
• Weakness = The answers aren’t qualitative and pretty direct. The audience didn’t
elaborate their answers and only answered yes or no.
– Interviews
Strength = Can get quality answers from interviewees about their
elaborated opinions and intellect insights.
Weakness = Sometimes the answer doesn’t help because it may be the
same thing as before or they answer half-heartedly.
Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
The response that I got was varied. From the survey and the interview the
answers were different and the same to each other. From the surveys, only 95%
agreed that podcast shows that talk about horror films should exist and the rest
disagreed. Furthermore, on the interviews all answers as similar and the same.
They all voice out the opinion that they agree that these kind of podcast should
exist.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
I distributed the survey through Teams and Whatsapp.
Advantage = I can get answers from people who are actually studying media. Due to
this I got quality answers.
Disadvantage = its consume time and it takes a long time to wait for people’s answers.

  • 2. Existing Product Type of image : They are doing the podcast at a studio. The angle is focused on the middle so the audiences can focus on the speakers. The effects used are sound effects such as sudden bang and eery laughter of an old woman as it was a Halloween special Use of lighting : The lighting was organised by focusing on the speakers face, so that the audiences could see their facial expression. The scenes was pretty basic and for most of the time the framing is focused on those three but at times they do have a solo shot when they're telling they're own personal stories. The costumes of those speakers are normal casual clothes as it was an informal setting. The props that were used are the candle to kind of give a Halloween vibe to it, a MacBook to kind of telling the audience that he is the DJ. A pillow to set a friendly mood and a pair of sunglasses to kind of show his personality as being the good fashionable guy. The colours used are bright and striking colours such as pink, red and stripes. They also manipulate the white balance on the camera by making the scene appeared Cooler and cloudy because they want to make it seems eery and scary. The mise en scene on this podcast was perfect as from the props to the story telling. The editing was smooth and from the beginning till the end it wasn’t awkward. The positioning of the speakers are great as well, the left one is alone which kind of showing that he’s the moderator of the conversation and the other two on the right are just people who reply to his questions. Audience appeal : What makes it appealing is that the stories told were relatable and the setting of the whole scene was casual and friendly vibe towards the audience. The wello show
  • 3. Existing Product Type of image : The location was at a recording studio. The angle of the scene is in the middle so that the audiences can focus on both speakers but at times there will be solo shots depends on who was speaking at that time. There were no effects involve in this specific episode on the podcast. Use of lighting : The lighting is focused in the middle and it was above both speakers to illuminate the speakers’ faces.. The costumes that the speakers are wearing are casual normal clothes. The props used are normal household items. The colours portrayed on the podcast were dark toned colours such as black, soft pink, wood and maroon from the bricks. They used all those elements to make the audiences more comfortable and basically sending a message that the discussion between the two speakers will be casual and with a friendly tone. Moreover, with the lighting, props and the clothes the producers want to make the audiences picture the discussion is happening at someone’s basement. With this, the audiences will feel more relaxing as if they are there listening to the discussion at their own basement in their own house. They audiences will feel more relaxed and can even enjoy the podcast while eating dinner or while drinking coffee. The mise en scene of the podcast was perfect especially about the speakers arrangement. The speakers faces each other which makes the discussions more interesting. Audience appeal : Podcast should be enjoyable. It is also somewhat similar to radio but some radios discussions are serious discussions that includes politics finance and etc. But for instance, the Joe Rogan podcast able to create an entertaining, relaxing and comfortable podcast for people to enjoy while relaxing even when the discussions are serious The Joe Rogan Experience
