Location
1. Location:
The location is a crucial point of filming, and is and is essential for mise-en-
scene, in first stages of pre-production. My group and I choose a location
that would best fit our storyline and would benefit it, the location we choose
presented the correct mood we wanted on the audience. My group and I
did not have a budget for our film so the location we choose worked well for
my group and everyone was happy, as the location of our choosing did not
require permission to film in.
In a research task on filming in public space, the site
http://www.theiac.org.uk/ mentioned that we are able to film in public space
as long as we do not cause any obstruction or disturb anyone. We also
found out that we do not need permits to film in public space and
authorities such as the police have no power to stop anyone from filming
out in public.
The production is for educational purposes, and we did not need a permit
for any scenes, the equipment we had were from members of our group,
and a few were given to us by the college. Most of our scenes were located
in a house that a member of the group allowed us to use. However, we did
use the road of the house, and a field that was located behind the house
also. The field we used was for a running scene of the kids, the field was
nice and quiet so we were able to successfully film without being disturbed.
All of our scenes were based inside of the house, except the scenes of the
girls wondering on the streets and the field, which was filmed outdoors. The
scenes we filmed inside of the house played a big part of our trailer, as the
most important parts of the trailer was based in the house. For example the
scene of the dolls, and the scene where our characters Grace and Ella
sneak into the house, and where Ella gets possessed.
The scenes we filmed on the grass and in park were for the purpose of
showing the kind of friendship the girls had before Ella slowly got
possessed. This was an effective way of showing the transformation of the
characters along with the location, as each location had a purpose and
worked well in creating a mood.
