LOCATION REPORTS
2. TRAFALAGAR SQUARE
Following the lines within the
song, ‘I’ll be your strength when
you get lost in the crowd’. We
have chosen to use a crowded
place with both a fountain and a
busy atmosphere. This is because
we want to emphasise that
despite all that is going on
around them, all that matters to
them is each other. We also
wanted to emphasise that it is a
romantic place that can be
related back to their childhood
place. And this fountain portrays
it as a significant place.
The risk of this location is that
there will be other people
around; therefore we need to
inform them that we will be
filming and whether or not their
okay with being in the
backgrounds of the shots so that
they won’t get offended. In order
to get to this location, both our
production team and crew team
will have to get the train. Due to
this we have chosen not to take
our younger two cast members as
there are further risks with
carrying children to crowded
places. Therefore in order for our
idea to work we chose a similar
child-friendly environment –
Broadwater farm.
3. BROADWATER PARK
We choose this location to film
the younger two members of our
production team, to correlate
with the significant romantic
setting of Trafalgar square in
order to end our video. We
choose to do this as our intention
is to end our video with a 360°
degree panning between the two
settings and the younger and
older couple, showing that their
current relationship is parallel to
the relationship they had when
they were younger.
In order to film at the location it
was essential that permission
was seeked in order to take the
children to the park, despite it
being a 10 minute walk. As taking
children out meant that we had
full responsibility for their safety
when crossing the road and
walking on the street. For this
location it was easy to avoid
getting other people in the shots
as it was a large location,
however it was still polite to
inform those around that we
would be filming so that they
would not be offended.
4. ANGELLISA’S HOUSE
The reason we choose to use
Angellisa’s house rather than to
use Sophia’s house, was because
the progression of time and that
even though their surroundings
have changed, that their love for
one another has remained the
same. Because Angellisa has a
younger sister it was also easier
to access toys, than for us to
carry them from one location to
another. The toys we used in the
background were associated with
childhood.
This location only required the
younger two cast members and is
only used for a very short section
of our music video. Where we
show flashbacks of them either
playing or fighthing.
Even though this is a personal
location, it is still essential that
we seeked permission from
Angellisa’s mum to ensure that
she was okay with us filming in
the house.
5. SOPHIA’S HOUSE
We choose to use Sophia’s house,
as not only was it convenient and
saved us time. It also ticked all
the boxes of the type of things we
wanted in order for our idea to be
fulfilled. For example at the start
of our video we wanted our main
actress to be sitting at the
window looking out. And the way
Sophia’s bedroom was situated
with a window seat made this an
ideal location. It was also a girl’s
room which meant that we had
to make minimum changes, for
example taking down personal
pictures and replacing them with
images of our cast.
It was also easier to use her living
room which saved time and was
also we lit with kept consistent
lighting when filming.
This is the location in which
majority of our music video from
the beginning. Even though this
was a more personal location it
was still important that we asked
permission from Sophia’s mum
to ensure that she was okay with
us filming in the house.
6. OUR SCHOOL:
ST. ANNE’S CATHOLIC HIGH
SCHOOL FOR GIRLS
For a short length of our music
video, we wanted to film outside of a
hospital ‘North Middlesex Hospital’,
as the storyline we have chosen to
carry out correlates around the film
of a ‘Casualty’ which mirrors and
reflects the name of ‘Casualty of
Love’. For this particular location we
needed to seek permission as we do
not own the property and there will
be vulnerable and other people
around, who may be offended.
However after seeking permission
we were informed that we would not
be able to use the location due to a
lack of staff to supervise us.
However we were not defeated by
this, and choose to improvise. We
decided that we would create our
own signs and transform our
school’s student services, into
something that looked like the
outside of a doctors room. For this
location we need to seek permission
from our teacher, to film after
school hours. In order to film at this
location we need both our
production team and the older to
members of our casting crew.
Therefore as we attend a girls school
it was essential that we seeked
permission to have our boy (Tash),
on school premises.
