Innovation in Pedagogical Practices:
Holistic, Integrated and Experimental Learning.
An approach that seeks to fully
activate all aspects of the learner’s
personality (intellect, emotions,
imagination, body) for more effective
and comprehensive learning.
I wish to explain this concept
with an example:
Arts, Sports & Music
Integrated
Pedagogical Practices.
As a Science Teacher I am entering
the class to introduce students
“Water Cycle”.
After explaining and engaging them
to understand Scientific terms, I will
also request my drawing teacher
colleague to teach them and
motivate them to draw rain, colorful
clouds and ask them – “You must
learn some scientific term of this”.
By drawing the pictures of
rainbow, clouds and water cycle.
Students will be able to put their
imagination creatively. A free will,
will help them to draw anything
related to water cycle, which will
be an enjoying session for the
students.
I will also request music teacher
to sing a poem about rain, water
and clouds in the next class.
In Arts/Drawing Class
In Music Class
Students will enjoy singing poems about
rain and clouds along with the music
teacher. Students will be able to feel the
concept more profoundly with emotions.
This will also help students in reducing
anxiety, improve mood, mental
alertness, and memory.
In Other Activities
I will also engage my students to learn
some poems of famous authors in Hindi
and English about rain and clouds. And
they search it with an ease.
In a nutshell I can say –
“Make whole learning watery”.
This kind of method makes teaching
very enjoyable and inclusive.
Grade Appropriate
Teaching Methodology
All students should have
multiple opportunities to learn
their relevant grade-level
standards, even if some have
not yet mastered previous
grade standards.
This methodology is especially
crucial to help students get
back on track from any
learning losses created by the
COVID-19 pandemic.
Learner-centered teaching methods
shift the focus of activity from the
teacher to the learners.
These methods include:
Creative and Innovative learner centric approach in
teaching-learning and classroom transactions.
Students solve problems,
answer questions, formulate
questions of their own,
discuss, explain, debate, or
brainstorm during class.
Active learning
Students work in teams on problems and
projects under conditions that assure both
positive interdependence and individual
accountability.
Cooperative learning
Students are first presented with challenges.
This includes problem-based learning, project-
based learning, discovery learning, and just-in-
time teaching.
Inductive teaching and learning
Inculcating 21st Century
skills among children.
21st century skills are tools that
can be universally applied to
enhance ways of thinking,
learning, working and living in
the world.
The skills include critical
thinking/reasoning,
creativity/creative thinking,
problem solving, metacognition,
collaboration, communication
and global citizenship.
Promoting Indic
Knowledge and Culture.
When children are exposed to
Indian customs, they
learn important lessons about
respecting others and being honest.
We believe that teaching young
children about the Indian culture
makes them feel more connected
with the country, enabling them to
grow into responsible citizens of the
nation.
Promoting Inclusive
Classrooms.
Inclusive systems provide a
better quality education for
all children and are
instrumental in changing
discriminatory attitudes.
Holistic Assessment of Children’s Development.
Moving from Rote Learning based evaluation to
Competency based evaluation.
Supporting students
with special talent.
Supporting students with
special talent keep them
challenged and engaged.
Educational programs for such
students teach a love of
learning and the knowledge and
skills for how to learn.

  • 1. Curriculum and Pedagogy in Schools A Holistic, Integrated, Enjoyable & Engaging Learning BY SHIVAM PARMAR
  • 2. Innovation in Pedagogical Practices: Holistic, Integrated and Experimental Learning. An approach that seeks to fully activate all aspects of the learner’s personality (intellect, emotions, imagination, body) for more effective and comprehensive learning. I wish to explain this concept with an example:
  • 3. Arts, Sports & Music Integrated Pedagogical Practices. As a Science Teacher I am entering the class to introduce students “Water Cycle”. After explaining and engaging them to understand Scientific terms, I will also request my drawing teacher colleague to teach them and motivate them to draw rain, colorful clouds and ask them – “You must learn some scientific term of this”.
  • 4. By drawing the pictures of rainbow, clouds and water cycle. Students will be able to put their imagination creatively. A free will, will help them to draw anything related to water cycle, which will be an enjoying session for the students. I will also request music teacher to sing a poem about rain, water and clouds in the next class. In Arts/Drawing Class
  • 5. In Music Class Students will enjoy singing poems about rain and clouds along with the music teacher. Students will be able to feel the concept more profoundly with emotions. This will also help students in reducing anxiety, improve mood, mental alertness, and memory.
  • 6. In Other Activities I will also engage my students to learn some poems of famous authors in Hindi and English about rain and clouds. And they search it with an ease. In a nutshell I can say – “Make whole learning watery”. This kind of method makes teaching very enjoyable and inclusive.
  • 7. Grade Appropriate Teaching Methodology All students should have multiple opportunities to learn their relevant grade-level standards, even if some have not yet mastered previous grade standards. This methodology is especially crucial to help students get back on track from any learning losses created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • 8. Learner-centered teaching methods shift the focus of activity from the teacher to the learners. These methods include: Creative and Innovative learner centric approach in teaching-learning and classroom transactions. Students solve problems, answer questions, formulate questions of their own, discuss, explain, debate, or brainstorm during class. Active learning
  • 9. Students work in teams on problems and projects under conditions that assure both positive interdependence and individual accountability. Cooperative learning Students are first presented with challenges. This includes problem-based learning, project- based learning, discovery learning, and just-in- time teaching. Inductive teaching and learning
  • 10. Inculcating 21st Century skills among children. 21st century skills are tools that can be universally applied to enhance ways of thinking, learning, working and living in the world. The skills include critical thinking/reasoning, creativity/creative thinking, problem solving, metacognition, collaboration, communication and global citizenship.
  • 11. Promoting Indic Knowledge and Culture. When children are exposed to Indian customs, they learn important lessons about respecting others and being honest. We believe that teaching young children about the Indian culture makes them feel more connected with the country, enabling them to grow into responsible citizens of the nation.
  • 12. Promoting Inclusive Classrooms. Inclusive systems provide a better quality education for all children and are instrumental in changing discriminatory attitudes.
  • 13. Holistic Assessment of Children’s Development. Moving from Rote Learning based evaluation to Competency based evaluation.
  • 14. Supporting students with special talent. Supporting students with special talent keep them challenged and engaged. Educational programs for such students teach a love of learning and the knowledge and skills for how to learn.
