that explains ECMS expectations
and guidelines for remote learning
for our teachers, students, and

8. Remote Learning
How does it work?
● Assignments will be posted in each teacher’s
Google Classroom/Canvas platform.
Students should check their school email
accounts daily for updates.
● All teachers will have Virtual Office Hours for
students to seek clarification on assignments or
to ask questions.
● If parents have questions or concerns, please
contact the teacher/administrator via email.
9. ECMS Schedule
• This schedule shows when
assignments are expected to
be posted by teachers (based
on the time); however, there is
flexibility for when
assignments can be accessed
and completed by students.
New learning will not be live
and will be recorded
10. Purpose of Virtual Office Hours
• Provides an opportunity for a STUDENT to ask questions on a
current assignment/lesson.
• Teachers will be available to answer questions during this time via
one of the following methods: Google Doc, Google Meet (video
chat), or email.
• Teachers will be available for Office Hours for at least ONE hour per
day Monday through Friday.

11. Grading Practices
● This link explains the grading plan for 3rd quarter and explains
that the district is waiting on further guidance from the state for
4th quarter.
● Until we will receive further guidance, teachers will focus on
providing feedback on students’ progress toward standards
rather than assigning grades.
12. UNC-TV
Partnership
UNC-TV and the NC Department of Public
Instruction have established a partnership that
will support remote learning with content that will
be accessible to students—especially those with
limited or no internet access—at no charge.
Each weekday, two blocks of programming on
UNC-TV's North Carolina Channel will serve:
● Fourth- through eighth-grade students, from
8:00 am – 1:00 pm (actual times may vary,
please check the weekly schedule online here).
These educational program blocks are available on
the North Carolina Channel, available statewide for
free over-the-air, through cable providers and
streamed online.

Editor's Notes
Instruction that is pre-recorded for individual learning and available at any time is how we will present new information/learning.
“Real time” or live opportunities for continued learning should be places where we are getting students to interact, where concepts can be modeled / demonstrated. This may occur in a small group discussion/work group. This time supports understanding of content provided in pre-recorded lessons.
Live learning sessions cannot be recorded.
