What is Selling Regulation?
Selling regulation is a procedure wherein we screen the brands that you are trying to
sell on Flipkart. It consists of two types of approvals - Category Approval and Brand
Approval. The approval process is carried out to ensure that only the best brands are
offered to buyers.
Offering the best quality brands from certified sellers strengthens buyer’s faith in us,
and in turn, reliability on the products offered on the website.

Category Approval
Category approval is the first stage of
approval that a seller requires from
Flipkart before selling under certain
categories.
Brand Approval
Brand approval is required for any new
brand that you are trying to sell. It helps
us ascertain the quality of the product.

How to get a Category Approval
STEP 1
Click on ‘Add listings in bulk’
and select a category of your
choice.

STEP 2:
When you click on it, a pop up will appear. You will receive either of the following
notifications depending on whether you are eligible to sell in that category or not.
This brand requires approval before you can start selling it
When you click on APPLY FOR APPROVAL you are directed to a form.

How to get a Category Approval
STEP 3
• Fill out the seller approval questionnaire. The
Flipkart team will validate it within 24 hours.
• The approval requests can be tracked in the
Track Approval Request section.
• It is recommended that you fill out the fields
even if they are not marked as mandatory as
this will help with the validation process.
• In case a request is rejected, you will be
informed about the reason for rejection.
• You can apply for approval again by providing
the required information.

How to get a Category Approval
STEP 4
You can view the status of your approvals
in Track Approval Requests section under
Listings tab.

How to get a Brand Approval
STEP 1
When you select ‘Check for brand approval’, you will receive
an option to enter a brand name and apply for approval. If
you are allowed to sell a brand in a particular category, you
can download the template and fill the catalog.
STEP 2
You may require approval for a new brand under a
category that you are already allowed to sell in.

How to get a Brand Approval
STEP 3
Fill out the brand approval questionnaire.
The Flipkart team will validate it within 24
hours.
The approval requests can be tracked in the
Track Approval Request section.
It is recommended that you fill out the

Your account can be made pending or your listing may be deactivated due to comments
received by a customer implying that your products are fake. In such cases, you can submit
supporting documents to help us validate if you are allowed to sell the product.
