9. Reading Records
• Children are encouraged to change their reading
books everyday - themselves. Books are located
in the Key Stage 1 shared area
• At school, only the class teacher or other adults
will write in the reading records
• At home, we assume that if there are no
comments, there was no reading completed at
home.
• *A child will only move up colour bands if s/he
demonstrates solid, consistent written
comprehension of the book level*
10. Home Learning
• We encourage your child to be reading daily
• Until half term Mrs Reynolds will be setting homework
around our school charter
• After half term we will send home:
- weekly spellings
- weekly alternate Maths and English
There will always be at least two challenges - only ONE needs
to be completed. Homework should take around 20-30
minutes per week to complete. If you find your child
becoming stressed with this then please stop after this time
and ensure you speak to the class teacher.

20. Contacting the Year 2 Team
• In Grasshopper class, the easiest way to contact
me is in person on Tuesday mornings at the gate
or call the office on a Wednesday afternoon (my
planning time)
• If you need information sent through on other
days, leave a note in the morning message
box/board and I read them before the register is
taken
• You can also phone the office or send an email,
but this usually will filter through in a day or two,
not immediately.

• I urge you, if you have any questions or issues
to please contact the class teacher or TA
through the office. We want to our best for
your child. We also want to maintain a
