1. What have you learned about
technologies from the process if
construction this product?
2. Photoshop
While creating my product I have learned a lot
about Photoshop. This includes how to use the
quick selection tool, spot healing tool, stroke
tool, clone stamp tool, dodge tool, burn tool and
how to transform, scale and also rotate images.
3. Quick selection tool
Once I knew how to use the quick selection tool I could select
certain parts of images quickly and delete the part that I didn't
want to include.
In the case of my music magazine I used it to select the person
in this image so that I could delete the background around him.
4. Spot healing tool
The spot healing tool replaces the part selected with a similar
part nearby. It can be used to remove spots or blemishes but I
used it to remove the badge on the my models jacket as I didn't
look very good as it stood out more than it should. After removing
it I believe it makes the image look better and it doesn't look like
it has been done on photoshop.
5. Stroke tool
The stroke tool is used to add a coloured edging to an
image or layer. To do with you select the layer, choose
the amount of pixels and also choose the colour and
then simply click OK
I used this in my magazine multiple times. I added a
red edging to my mast head and also to a few of my
images.
6. Clone stamp tool
I used the clone stamp tool when I wanted to
remove a certain part of my image. You select a
part to replace it with and it simply copies is over. I
used this at one point when creating my magazine
as I wanted to get rid of a blemish on my models
face. So I selected a bit of skin from a different
part of the face and then clicked on the part that I
wanted to replace. This is a very effective tool as
it is simple and easy to use and it is important that
in music magazine front covers that there are no
blemishes or spots on the models face.
7. Dodge tool
The dodge tool is used to lighten up images. I
used this in my magazine as I wanted to
brighten up the face of one of my models as
the lighting wasn't very good. It is a very useful
tool if the lighting isn't very good for one of the
images and you don't have chance to take any
more pictures.
8. Burn tool
The burn tool is used to darken images. I
used this in my magazine as I wanted to
make one part slightly darker as the lighting
wasn't very good and it was to light. It is a
very useful tool if you want to make a certain
part of an image darker
9. Transform, scale and rotate
images.
To do this I had to tick the Show Transform
Controls and then this allowed my to transform
the image. I could then change the size of the
image and then rotate it.
