1. ANALYSE THE FREQUENCY OF WORDS USING
WORD LIST

2. 1. Find an article on the internet. An example of
the article,
“How to Beat Insomnia and Sleep Easy”

3. 2. Copy the content of the article that you want
to anaylse by holding the ‘Shift’ + ‘A’ tab or right
click ‘Select All’.

4. 3. Open ‘Notepad’ on your windows.

5. 4. Paste the content that you have copied onto
the ‘Notepad’. This is important as AntConc can
only read .txt files.

6. 5. Save the file.

7. 6. Now, open up AntConc that you have
downloaded. Click on ‘File’ > ‘Open File(s)… and
choose the .txt file that you have saved.

8. 7. You can see your file’s name on the left side
‘Corpus Files’. Click on it.

9. 8. Then, take your pick to either analyse the words by
clusters, collocates, word list or keyword list. Since we
are only focusing on ‘word list’, click on it then click on
the small blue ‘Start’ button at the bottom.

10. 9. You will see the result that has been classified
according to ‘Rank’, ‘Freq’, ‘Word’.

11. 10. It is shows that the word ‘sleep’ is frequently
used which is for 28 times.
