1. When we began using Photoshop to create are finished media product, I only briefly knew
the basics of Photoshop such as creating a new file and using brief effects. However, in the
process of creating my music magazine I learned how to use many different tools in
Photoshop to make my music magazine match the criteria better.
Quick Selection tool
When creating my music magazine, I had to crop certain parts of images I wanted in order
to place them on a different background of to make them stand out more. I learned how to
do this a lot easier by using the Quick selection tool rather than using the Magic Wand tool.
By using this tool it meant that I could easily selected parts of the background without
deleting the part of the image that I wanted. I could then delete what I had selected and
then be left with the part of the image that I wanted.
Filter Effects
In order to make images stand out I had to use effects on some of the images in order to
make sure that they don’t clash with the background on a page or so that it attracts the
readers attention. I learned how to use the Filter Effects Gallery to choose effects for my
images. A pop-up page then came up with the image I wanted to use effects on and all the
different effects. On this image which I used for my Double Spread Page I used the Dark
Strokes effect to make the three rappers stand out from the background.
2. Other than the new features than I learned when making my music magazine, all the other tools
such as Magic Wand, Text, Free Transform, Blending Options, Duplicate Layer, Shapes, and Blur were
all tools that I had already used in Photoshop previously.
