Introduction
 Anything around us is known as
environment.
 Environment is a very broad term it
includes all things that is
 above,
 below,
 around us be it air, water,
 or plant and
 animal life.
5
Definition
 Sum of all factors
 Physical
 Chemical and
 Biological
 That have directly or indirectly
impacts on individual or group
of individuals.
6
Factors of Environment
 Two main factors of environment are:
1. Abiotic Factors
2. Biotic Factors
7
Abiotic Factors
 Anything which is non-living in the
environment.
 Examples are land, water, ores such as
gold, iron and copper etc.
 Abiotic factors are:
 Natural components and
 Human components
8
CONT,,
 Natural components
 Non-living things occurring
naturally.
 i.e. mountains, water and climate
etc.
 Human components
 Manmade components
 i.e. roads, industries and buildings
etc.
9
Biotic Factors
 Any living thing in the environment.
 Biotic factors are:
 Producers such as plants
 Consumers like animals, and
 Decomposers are bacteria which
decomposes deaed organic matters.
10
Components of Environment
 Four components
 Atmosphere
Air
 Hydrosphere
Water
 Lithosphere
Earth
 Biosphere
Living things
11
Challenges to Environment
 Pollution
 Global warming
 Overpopulation
 Natural resources
depletion
 Climate change
 Deforestation
 Ozone layer
depletion
 Public health issues
12
Conclusion
 The environment we live in is a beautiful place. Let us not pollute it
for our selfish needs.
 It is our responsibility to give the next generation a better, hygienic
future and to preserve energy for future use.
 It is a time to take a step forward to control the environmental
issues, and make it suitable place for better standards of living.
 and make it a place suitable It is imperative on our part to save our
environment.
