2. Loose Barrels posing a problem!Challenges
.
• Our client, a major beverage manufacturer,
faced significant challenges storing and
moving, 20 Littre Barrels across their site.
3. Issues General Situation
• Barrels were stored on pallets
• Due to the weight and nature of barrels, they
pose a considerable H&S risk if they fall.
• Palletised Barrels cannot stack safely on each
other, leading to a very poor cubic fill ratio on site
4. • Pallets did not efficiently store barrels empty or full –
shrink wrap required to secure load and they could
not be safely stacked.
• Pallets were very inefficient during transport to
washer, or fill line, with some identified H&S issues
and requirement to unwrap and re-wrap the load
each time
• Use of Pallets and Shrink wrap was leading to
increased costs.
Inefficiency within supply chainIssues
5. • Client currently using a Barrel Grab mechanism
• This mechanism lifts 20 barrels at one time – 5
across and 4 deep
The
System
Automation
6. • Capcon meet with key stakeholders from the
client site to review current operations and the
overall requirements.
• Capcon looked at how the supply chain was
currently operating
• Capcon learned what the challenges looked like
Customer Engagement ProcessEngagement
7. • A unit dived into 4 quarters taking 60 barrels in
each or 240 barrels in total.
• A unit compatible with a chassis trailer with twist
locks
• A unit stackable 4 high
• A unit where the barrels do not take the weight.

The Customer Challenges Outlined
8. • 240 Barrels Per Cage – 60 per quarter
• *960 Barrels Per 5.28 SQM vs 48 SQM (24 Pallets)
• Stackable 4 high
• Complete with CE Certs.
The
Solution
Stackable Barrel Container
*20 kegs per 1200x1000mm wooden pallet stacked max 2 high = 40 kegs or 1 pallet space so 960 kegs =24 wooden
pallet spaces or 28.8 SQM. Barrel container 2.2m (W) x 2.4m (L) x 1.8m (H) x 4 units stacked = 5.28SQM
