3. Cardiorespiratory
endurance - is the ability to
perform dynamic exercise
involving large muscle
groups at moderate to high
intensity for prolonged
period.
4. Every Physical fitness evaluation
should include an assessment of
cardio respiratory function during
both rest and exercise. Exercise
physiologist consider directly
measured and maximum oxygen
uptake (VO₂ max) or peak VO₂ to be
the most valid measure of functional
capacity of the cardio respiratory
system
5. 1.) The capacity of the heart,
lungs, and blood to transport
oxygen to the working muscles
2.) The utilization of oxygen by
the muscles during exercise
6. Maximal and sub maximal VO₂ IS
expressed in absolute or relative
terms. Absolute VO₂ is directly
related to body size, thus men
typically have a larger absolute
VO₂max than women.
To compare indivuals who differ in
body size, VO₂ is expressed relative
to body weight.
7. Relative VO₂ - is used to estimate
the energy cost of weight-bearing
activities such as walking,
running, aerobic dancing, stair
climbing, and bench stepping
8. Maximal Exercise Test Protocols
Many maximal exercise test protocols have
been devised to assess aerobic capacity.
As the exercise technician, you must be
able to select an exercise mode an test
protocol that is suitable for your given
clients their age, gender, and health and
fitness status.
9. The exercise test must be
continuous or discontinuous. A
continuous VO₂max test is
performed with no rest between
work increments. For
discontinuous test the subject
is given a 5-10 inute rest interval
between work loads.
10. Treadmill Maximal Exercise Test
the exercise is performed on a major-
driven treadmill with variable speed
and incline. Speed varies up to 25
mph and incline is measured in
units of elevation per 100 horizontal
units and is expressed as a
percentage.
