INTRODUCTION OF MULTIPLEX
A multiplex is a complex of retail stores and related facilities planned as a unified group to a give
maximum shopping convenience to the customer and maximum exposure merchandise.
It had a two-level enclosed and ventilated mall lined with open-fronted shops startlingly similar
to today’s most up to-date concept
TYPES OF MULTIPLEX
NEIGHBORHOOD CENTRE (SUBURBAN) :
•This is arrow of stores customarily ( but not always ) in a strip , or line paralleling the highway
and with parking between the line of storefronts and the highway.
•Ranging from 20,000 to 100,000 sq ft of space.
INTERMEDIATE OR COMMUNITY-SIZE CENTRE:
•Also a strip of stores but substantially larger than the neighborhood center and also called
“junior” department store as the major unit.
•The parking pattern is normally similar to that of the neighborhood center.

REGIONAL CENTRE (SUBURBAN):
• Contains one to four department stores plus 50 to 100 or more satellite shops and facilities.
History of multiplex in Nepal:
Nepal’s first and one of the best multiplex is Big Movies -operated by
Bishal group.

• The minimum size of a compact parking

Basement Parking
• The maximum practical grade for driveways
varies between 8–14 percent for low-volume
driveways and five percent for high-volume

BOWLING ALLEYS
Skittle and bowling alleys can be divided into the following areas :
• The run up, in which the ball is bowled after a few approach steps and it is
approximately 4 m long.
• The lane, the surface along which the ball rolls and it is approximately 18.30m long.
• The catching pit, in which the fallen skittles/pins and balls are collected it is

Sound systems:
• Typically, five speakers are used, one for bass sounds, and often with a sixth as an theatre

• Very wide screens and side sound sources cause acoustics problems.

• Recommended working temperature of the projection room = 18degree celsius.
• location of AHU(air handling units)=3 broad areas- adjacent to the screen.
Acoustics:
• Fan shaped seating with racked chairs for viewing and hearing.
• Projection screen and the loud speakers behind it placed at a height enough to
cover entire audience.
• Back side of the screen and surroundings of the screen be “Black and
absorptive” to prevent light reflections.
• Projection- booth and noise should not enter audience section, hence inside of
the booth be made highly absorbent and window- glasses be properly sealed.
• With stereophonic sound system, adjusted to sound track of the film; the side –
walls, flat ceiling and the surface around the screen kept more absorptive and
dispersive.

INTRODUCTION OF MULTIPLEX A multiplex is a complex of retail stores and related facilities planned as a unified group to a give maximum shopping convenience to the customer and maximum exposure merchandise. It had a two-level enclosed and ventilated mall lined with open-fronted shops startlingly similar to today’s most up to-date concept TYPES OF MULTIPLEX NEIGHBORHOOD CENTRE (SUBURBAN) : •This is arrow of stores customarily ( but not always ) in a strip , or line paralleling the highway and with parking between the line of storefronts and the highway. •Ranging from 20,000 to 100,000 sq ft of space. INTERMEDIATE OR COMMUNITY-SIZE CENTRE: •Also a strip of stores but substantially larger than the neighborhood center and also called “junior” department store as the major unit. •The parking pattern is normally similar to that of the neighborhood center.
