2. Learning
Objective(s)
The students will
• Identify the natural resources on Earth.
• Compare natural resources in different lands
on Earth to where I live.
• Categorize renewable and nonrenewable
natural resources.
• Utilize virtual learning and technological tools
to learn about natural resources.
3. Information: Providing
Input
Some of the natural resources we use, such as air and
water, are necessities. We can’t live without them. Others
are important to our way of life. For example, we use
wood to build homes and furniture and to make paper
for newspaper and books. Using resources wisely can
help make sure they will be available for people in years
to come. Students will also become more familiar with
natural resources using technological resources.
4. Watch a video about
Natural Resources!

7. Many different natural
resources are found in our
environment. Some of them are
renewable resources.
Renewable resources are ones
that can be replaced.
Examples: forests, trees, water, soil
8. Some resources are available in
limited supply. These are called
nonrenewable resources. When
we have used them up, they will
be gone. They cannot be
replaced.
Examples: fuels such as oil and
natural gas; nuclear, minerals
12. People use to think
resources on Earth would
last forever. Today we know
that natural resources can be
used up or polluted.
What is pollution? Pollution is
something that makes the air, land, and
water dirty.
14. What is
Conservation?
Conservation is the
careful use of our
natural resources. When
people use only as much
of a resource as they
need, they are practicing
conservation.
16. Technology in the
Classroom: Virtual
Learning
Virtual reality is transforming the way
learning is done in the classroom. Using
advanced technology and innovative
initiatives. Teachers can utilize these new
tools with traditional learning and
implement to advance student learning.
17. Watch a video

Reality!

18. Technology in the Classroom
Activities
Research and Produce
The students will present an audio-visual
presentation using the classroom computer and
the smart television. I will use my iPad or iPhone
to make recordings and iMovie for editing. I will
use the internet to search for natural resources
videos on YouTube. I will use iPhone Peek to
create simulations. I will upload files into my
Cloud Storage Service “Drop Box”.
Virtual Reality
The students will be real life participants in a
virtual game. Their world will be a game inside a
computer or behind a computer screen. There
will be animated objects and other characters.
Other participants will be the controllers. The
object of the game is to dig for renewable
resources such as soil and water and non-
renewable natural resources in the ground such
as oil or natural gas. They will connect these
resources with their uses until they are all gone at
different game levels.
