effective functioning it is answerable to several
bodies, agencies and authorities.
Are the schools answerable to the
parents/society?

a) To the parents: it is responsible to show that the
aim and objectives of education have been attained
and the children are receiving fruitful education.
b) To the society: it has to assurance and satisfaction
that future citizens being prepared in it will prove
equal to every social task and responsibility.
c) To the state and central government: it has to
satisfaction that public funds are being best utilized
for the cause of education and norms, standards and
directions given by the governments are being
observed honestly and efficiently.

d) Pupil: Staff and authorities have to provide
satisfaction to the pupils by ensuring and watching
their progress in studies, ascertaining and
appraising their attainments and capacities and
conditioning their conduct and behaviour.
In order that the school may obtain
information and furnish it to all the concerned and
interested parties, it is necessary that complete and
systematic records should be maintained.

 Maintanace of records and registers is vital for the
promotion of education programmes in schools and
colleges.
 Record shows each student’s ability and his
improvement in the activity.
 Records must serve to indicate not only the students
progress but also to prove the value of the teacher
work and administrative work.

 Document that memorializes and provides objective evidence of
activities performed, events occurred, results achieved, or statements
made.
 Records are created/received by an organization in routine transaction of
its business or in pursuance of its legal obligations. A record may consist
of two or more documents.
 A record is defined as a documented proof of a transaction.
 This can refer to any activity which falls within the normal routine of an
organization.
 All documented information, regardless of its characteristics, media,
physical form, and the manner it is recorded or stored. Records include
accounts, agreements, books, drawings, letters, magnetic/optical disks,
memos, micrographics, etc. Generally speaking, records function as
evidence of activities, whereas documents function as evidence of
intentions.

 The maintenance of records is indispensable for systematic
and successful working of a school.
 Protecting records that are essential to mission-critical
business operations.
 Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory recordkeeping

 Reducing risks in litigation, government investigations, and
the legal discovery process.

 The school calendar is a mirror where the probable dates of various
events and activities to be done during the coming session are reflected. It
is usually prepared at the beginning of each academic session. It contain
the following Stems of information.
(i) Information about the general, local and gazette holidays.
(ii) Dates for the submission of monthly, quarterly, holidays and annual reports
and returns.
(iii) Dates of monthly, quarterly and annual examinations.
(iv) Dates of the meetings of the school and faculty committees, Teachers’
Associations, different societies, school excursions and educational tours, school
tournaments etc.
(v) Dates of important school functions like the annual prize day, the parents day,
(he U.N.O. day, Independence Day, Republic Day, Birthday of eminent persons etc.
 Thus the school calendar provides important information about various
activities to be carried out throughout the academic session.

 This activity is to enable the student teacher to

school life. It will help him/her to realize the
need of maintaining the records and their

 The student teacher shall write a report on any
4 records prepared and maintained by the
school.
 Marks calculated out of 25 are to be given for
the report.

  • 5. School is an public institution. In the matter of its effective functioning it is answerable to several bodies, agencies and authorities. Are the schools answerable to the parents/society? Dr. Pratibha Dabhade-Raysoni
  • 6. a) To the parents: it is responsible to show that the aim and objectives of education have been attained and the children are receiving fruitful education. b) To the society: it has to assurance and satisfaction that future citizens being prepared in it will prove equal to every social task and responsibility. c) To the state and central government: it has to satisfaction that public funds are being best utilized for the cause of education and norms, standards and directions given by the governments are being observed honestly and efficiently.   • 7. d) Pupil: Staff and authorities have to provide satisfaction to the pupils by ensuring and watching their progress in studies, ascertaining and appraising their attainments and capacities and conditioning their conduct and behaviour.   • 9.  Maintanace of records and registers is vital for the promotion of education programmes in schools and colleges.  Record shows each student’s ability and his improvement in the activity.  Records must serve to indicate not only the students progress but also to prove the value of the teacher work and administrative work. Records include accounts, agreements, books, drawings, letters, magnetic/optical disks, memos, micrographics, etc. Generally speaking, records function as evidence of activities, whereas documents function as evidence of intentions. (ii) Dates for the submission of monthly, quarterly, holidays and annual reports and returns. (iii) Dates of monthly, quarterly and annual examinations.
