Professional Experience:
KBR: April 2014-March 2015 – Construction Manager and Safety Consultant for series of capital
projects for DuPont’s catalyst manufacturing plant, Martinez, CA. Responsibilities included
constructability design reviews, safety orientations, safety training and field audits for contractors.
Overall responsibility for contractor coordination and field execution. Established quality
assurance documentation system and completion punch-listing records. Interfaced in the field with
pre-commissioning and commissioning activities with instrument technicians and operations staff.
DuPont Sustainable Solutions: Sept 2013 to April 2014 – Safety Consultant through On-
Board Services, Inc. to a major energy producer – Northern Alberta, Canada. Acted as field safety
monitor for multinational workforce during the winter construction period of a multi-billion dollar oil
sands construction project. Provided extensive field auditing, safety management system
consultation, and improvement recommendations to the Owner’s safety organization.

Site Engineering Manager: 2011- 2013 (August), Cooper River Plant, Moncks Corner, SC
Responsible for completing all the remaining Kevlar® project punch list items and formally closing
the project. (See previous assignment.) Established, then led, the resident contracted design,
maintenance, and contract administration organization for all the DuPont-owned manufacturing
facilities and property. Worked to position key individuals and procedures in the new Site
Engineering Organization.

Construction Engineering Consultant: 2007-2010, Cooper River Plant - $600 mm, grass roots,
Kevlar® Expansion Project
Project team member, beginning at the front end loading stages, responsible for the entire plant
operating system sequencing. Developed system definitions during the production design phase
which served as a uniform basis for construction package execution, mechanical completion, pre-
commissioning, and start up. Provided client organizational oversite for quality assurance and
acceptance in system field walk downs. Reviewed Corporate documents then tailored applicable
procedures to conduct numerous pre-startup safety reviews for various systems.
Responsible for establishing contractual site safety conditions and acted as the field coordinating
engineer for the execution of those contracts. Led on a regular basis weekly safety meetings with
contractor and subcontractor management; and established, with the project safety organization,
the official Project Contractor Safety Plan. Received Corporate Safety Recognition award for
project safety performance respective to the transition period leading up to full operations.
Responsible for overall coordination and execution of all subcontractor, contractor, and start up
vendor activities in assigned and defined areas. Provided extension design – construction
interface in resolving technical and coordination issues. During commissioning, provided best
practice safety startup guidance to new operation personnel.
Construction Manager: 2004-2007 Maydown Plant, Londonderry, Northern Ireland
Site Manager for $80mm Kevlar® Expansion. Responsible for contractor selection process for the
subsequent production engineering firm. Transitioned to assuming responsibility for the safe
execution and startup of new spinning machine installations in an existing operating facility.
Provided small team guidance to the development and accelerated execution of a new
technology, ultra-filtration process.
European Construction Consultant for projects in Spain, Germany, the UK, and Netherlands.
Provided best practice shutdown and safety auditing expertise to various DuPont locations.
Project Team Leader, Senior Construction Engineer, Maintenance Superintendent: 1995 -
2004 Washington Works, Parkersburg, WV
Project Team Leader for multi-business small capital improvements valued from $1-10mm (3
years). Led the coordination of contracted design efforts of various disciplines; then the field
execution and startup of the respective design packages. Led international consulting trips to
similar facilities in the Netherlands.
Superintendent of Maintenance for a 120 member team supporting the high-hazard Teflon®
facility with an equipment replacement value of $1B (3 years). The process utilized various
extremely toxic and aggressive chemicals. Worked with staff to review and upgrade various
maintenance and safety procedures.
Lead Construction Engineer for an $80mm Teflon® Expansion project (3 years). Led construction
efforts for the resident union contractor and non-union sub-contractor work force in a high highly
hazardous chemical environment. The project was executing safely within the confines of the
existing manufacturing facility. Provided design and constructability reviews to facilitate the use of
extensive modular construction techniques with specialty vendors.

Senior Division Engineer: 1991-1995 Loon Plage, France
Client Representative over project work, start-up and commissioning for a $110mm grass-roots
sulfonyl urea herbicide facility. Startup coordinator for a specialty vendor supplied industrial waste
incinerator. (2 years)
Anglo-French Operation Resource for DuPont’s High Performing Work System. (2 yrs.) Provided
training, field guidance, and mentoring to the new French staff.
Senior Division Engineer: 1989-1991, Dordrecht, Netherlands
Responsible for project execution of Lycra® fibers and Teflon® polymer expansions in existing
operating facilities. Networked, then provided oversite with specialty commissioning vendor during
digital control system retrofit operations.
Division and Area Engineer: 1980-1989, Laplace, LA - Fayetteville, NC
Responsible for field execution of various multi-million dollar capital projects at two locations.
Served as night shift engineer after 1983 Pontchartrain plant explosion. Maintenance supervisor
