work, engagement of vendors and specification and checking of all detail design deliverables.
Working closely with the client leading assistance and assurance design reviews ensuring systems
are compliant with the nuclear designation of the building however; still maintaining operability of
the plant.
Glovebox depression alarm safety system design
Lead CE&I engineer responsible for the production of a safety system design package of works
complying with BS 61508. The aim of the project was to install a glovebox depression monitoring
and area evacuation alarm system in response current unworkable practices being carried out
within the facility. Responsible for leading the multi-discipline design team defining customer
requirements within technical specifications and production/checking of detail design deliverable
drawings and documentation. Deliverables include the following:
• System Safety Analysis.
• Safety Requirement Specifications.
• Safety Management Plan.
• Fault Sequence Group Configuration Diagrams.
• CE&I engineering drawings.
• Design Justification Report.
• Safety Verification Plan and Specification.
• Installation Method Statements.
Other responsibilities included leading of design reviews, allocation of work to other members of
the team and liaising with the client and project team ensuring a fit for purpose solution was
delivered.
Electrical metering and Energy Strategy Implementation
Senior CE&I Engineer responsible for the identification and development of concept design
solutions meeting the client’s needs of measuring the consumption of electricity throughout the site
and implementation of this information into a site energy strategy. A Functional Specification and
Site Energy Strategy was developed identifying the sites highest electrical loads, enabling
specification of suitable instrumentation and communication systems for including
ISA100Wireless protocol for further development.
Long Term Periodic Review Improvement Plans
Lead CE&I engineer responsible for the identification, delivery and technical content of
engineering solutions to close out engineering shortfalls identified during multiple facilities LTPRs.
Duties included identification of the strategy to be followed, prioritisation of activities, production of
and technical checking of documents and management of the engineering team to provide cost
effective and real risk reduction solutions to the identified shortfalls.
Engineering Substantiation and Long Term Periodic Reviews
Working under multiple contracts responsible for the production of CE&I Structure, System and
Component assessments and reviews within facilities on the Sellafield site. Experience in carrying
out SSC assessments on radiometric, level, flow, interlock, pressure, temperature and fire alarm
systems. Experience using Microsoft word and excellent CE&I report writing skills.
CE&I detail design
Working under the DSA contract providing CE&I support on various projects around the Sellafield
site. Responsible for the production of detailed work scope specifications, cost estimates and work
plans. Production of optioneering reports and researching available technologies to provide

alternative solutions to plant issues complying with modern standards. Liaising closely with all
stakeholders on a regular basis in order to produce CE&I design documentation and drawings for
manufacture and installation complying with British and site technical standards.
Engineering Shift Team Leader
In this role it was important to have a clear understanding of conventional safety and safety case
requirements in a dynamic operational facility to actively deliver solutions to complex engineering
systems; taking personal responsibility of plant issues and leading by example in a professional
responsible manner. Carrying out assessments of complex problems & identifying safe and robust
solutions. The role also included the following:
• Personally responsible for the delivery of specific and high quality work packages, to
demanding timescales for the engineering team.
• Improvement and maintenance of assets, by proactive monitoring, allowing early
identification of potential plant problems.
• Management and control of electrical, instrumentation and mechanical operations
throughout the facility. Ensuring routine and breakdown maintenance was completed within
challenging time and cost constraints, whilst ensuring minimal risk to operational plant and
personnel.
• Responsible for delivering planned and breakdown maintenance, safely and to exacting
standards, achieved by effectively compiling safe systems of work, scheduling and
arranging resources both internal and external to the company.
• Part of building emergency response team carrying out the role of Information Liaison
Officer. Responsible for communication of key incident information and accountancy of
building personnel within the Incident Control Centre. Responsible for the identification and
implementation of engineering activities to bring the plant to a safe state. Responsible for
coordinating activities at building muster points during building evacuation situation’s
including interrogation of the building BERCS system accounting for all building personnel
and activities to ensure the buildings security is not compromised at these times.
