2. Process
I used a basic image of a cowboy and
replicated it by using a variety of
thickness and opacities of the pencil
tool. To create the 2 other variations I
used the free transform tool with
nearest labour enabled and disabled to
get 2 different results leading to a low
pixel version upscale and a more
detailed one with a increased head side
though selecting it with the lasso tool.
This character is too detailed to be used
as one of the units that are animated in
the game as an element of game play,
however I plan on using it to be a quest
givers portrait in the game to add detail
to the game and re-use the asset.
3. Process
For this process I used the pencil tool at 2 pixels to make the rough outline of a
character or building, then i paint bucket tooled the inside to make it one solid
shape and began adding details to it. When making the cacti it took less time as they
are more random and irregular making them quicker to design and produce. The
tree took more time to make and so to avoid wasting time i took the same drawing
of the tree and used the free transform, warp tool to change the shape of them into
4 unique variations of the plant.
4. Process
I made variations of all of the
units to add variety to the game,
this is in the form of a cavalry
unit on horseback. This will be a
separate unit in the game. The
other instances of the Units are
the different animation
positions that the characters
might be in the game when
interacting with the world or
player. This includes arms us,
arms down, gun drawn, box
holding and dead. Each have 4
possible angles depending on
their location when they are
triggered and when so they can
be placed in any angle.
