2. ProcessWhen making this advergame for the experiment, I used
these tools, the pencil tool, colour blending, paint bucket,
zoom in and zoom out, the select tool, duplicate layer and
timeline in order to create my animation for the
advergame. The reason that I used the pencil tool was
because it only colours the selected pixilated squares
however the reason that I didn’t use the paint tool instead
is because it colours in more and makes a mess of the
pixelated squares. The reason that I used the paint bucket
was because at the start of making the game I wanted the
background of the game all the same colour and the
bucket fills up all the squares on the grid instantly. The
reason that I had to zoom in and zoom out is because I
wanted a clear view from the zoom out of what I was
doing and where to animate, however I needed the zoom
in when designing the scenery in the game for colouring
characters and the tomb stones etc.
I used colour blending on the stars in the background so
that they would have an inner and outer glow of a bright
and also dark colour this would add to the affect that a
star would have in the sky but on the game. I had to use
the select tool so that I could move certain objects around
on the game to design it and also animate it. I used
duplicate layer so that I could animate each layer to move
to different places on the screen.
I started by making the background and then moved onto
creating the barriers that are controlled in the game, I then
made the disk that is used. After I had created all that I
needed in terms of background and used layers I began to
animate it. I animated it by using the timeline option and
creating new layers and adjusting them to the position I
wanted them in.
3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product? Refer to the
brief: Ghost Game
• For my final product I intend to use the same concept of gameplay however my final product will include more features such
as a scoring system to count the points that you get by scoring goals n the game. I would also use the same type of disk
peace that I created, I would make it the same size and shape so that its easy to see, is visible and chunky on the board
making it easy to hit it back, the only difference is that my disk will be shaped like a planet rather than an average disk, it will
share the same outer glow though as it adds a nice affect. Something that will be the same that is used in the experiment is
the shape and size of the barrier I will jus change the colour so that it stands out more with the background of the final
game. I would change the background scenery in my final project so that it fit around the concept that I have of space and in
my final project I would include lots more scenery as the background would have moving objects in the background. I would
include the same pitch set out so that there are sides to re bound off making it more like air hockey rather than pong. The
overall concept of the game I am going to keep for my final project however when the game has a goal scored in the
planet/disk will disappear in my final game where as in the experiment it stays in the back of the net. This should add a more
futuristic affect to the game and improve it making it better and ore interesting to play. I would say that the overall
experiment went well and included a lot of good ideas and is going to be useful to look back o when I create the final
project.
