Reflection
FMP DESIRED TARGET GRADE
Distinction
Breakdown of Units 9 & 10
• What areas did you
do well on?
Its clear after looking at
my final gradings for
each section, that I did
particularly well in the
'proposal', 'planning',
'experiments',
'reflection', and
'evaluation' areas
having been graded a
distinction for these 5
tasks that summed up
parts of my factual
project, which received
a merit grade overall.
• What areas would you like to develop in the FMP?
Looking back at the table above, its clear there's a distinct
differentiation in some of the key areas that made up the
project, these including 'context research' and 'copy' in
particular having been graded a pass for these sections when
put against some of my distinction level pieces of work;
regarding some of the improvements I would make to improve
their grades, I would consider looking into theories behind
documentaries and the subject more, whether it be through
books or focus groups aside from through the internet, showing
a more diverse approach to my peers.
In addition to this, off personal thoughts and opinions, I would
also consider my 'product research' and 'audience research' to
be areas that need developing because of a lack of variety which
I believe brought these documents down in ability; so looking at
more quantitative or qualitative methods in both product or
audience research, this could demonstrate a broader source of
receiving the information and exploration of such topics.
Action Plan
6.1 Daily Reflection
1.1 Research Theory &
Content
1.2 Pre-Proposal 1.2 Proposal
• Achieving what is a distinction
level piece of work in my daily
reflections, I don’t think there is
much I could have improved
upon that may change this
section for the better when
receiving 'excellent reflections'
as my feedback, but its apparent
to me that I could have looked at
other aspects, including a more
in depth analysis on strengths
and weaknesses, to bulk out this
daily reflection document and
understand some of the main
accomplishments and failures of
the day, and reasonings why.
• I had come to realise that this was
one of my weakest areas of work,
and its even more clear in the pass
grade that I achieved when
considering I should research into
more products (websites, books,
etc), so that there's more variety in
the context of things, which
resultantly packs up my
bibliography that should be more
full to establish a sparse range of
sources and greater understanding
overall coming off not just my own
knowledge, but from sources that
improved my awareness of the
topic I'm illustrating.
• Looking more into the initial
idea, and intentions set around
the concept of the proposal, I
think its necessary to
acknowledge a lot of the
previous project I have
undergone, looking at
strengths and weakness or
processes I could reflect
similarly, whilst beginning to
form some general ideology
around the film industry and
considering new techniques,
aside from the ones used in
other projects, to I could
continue to learn and develop
my own ability in preparation
for the future.
• Understanding that there is
no improvements to be made
for my proposal, I think
its considerate to follow
through with what I have been
doing already in the creation of
the document; from looking at
all mannerisms, intentions in
the working I'm producing,
and forwarded possibilities
to conduct a good final
outcome, this will develop the
main four aspects that make up
my proposal, audience,
rational, concept, and evaluate,
with the addition for more
when considering the
bibliography and examples being
mentioned for added support.
Action Plan
2.1 Research Products 2.1 Research Audience
2.2, 3.1 & 3.2
Problem Solving
2.2 & 3.2 Experiments
• Receiving a merit grade in my
factual project, I intend on looking
over more existing products that
are related to the topic I'm looking
at, addressing the audiences more
in the way in which they're targeted
and establish an interest, consider
the way ill present to information
and work I'm producing to suit my
peers with many screenshots and
references to work in an easily
readable format, and constantly
interpret the influence it may have
on my own product with
consideration to the audience and
its impact.
• Regarding audience research, I
think tehre are many different
form factors to consider and
ensure I get a clear understanding
of their ideals, from conducting
multiple methods of gathering
audience research, including
surveys and interviews fro
insatnces, this should be equally
as supported through analysis of
the results ive gathered,
additional infleunces and
perticualr interests that may hook
their attention to determine
certain cahracteristicks in my
porject, all which should be
htrough what is other ways aside
from websites, including books
and so fourth.
• When it comes to problem solving, I
had slightly touched on this during
my planning with contigency and
health and safety forms, and this is
no exception for its use, doing tehse
forms in a professional manner and
format that covers all possible
injuries or preventions to film during
production, against the personnels
involved, what to do in the case of
soemthing like this happening, how
it should be adressed from severity,
and whos responsibility it is, all with
possible addition of more if need be
to establish professionalism
throughout the project, whislt
sustaining a good level of detail and
consideration for all things possible.
• Again, I don’t think there are
many improvemnts I could
make having received a
distinction grade,
but continuing to establish the
porcesses involved, strengths
and weaknesses in the
experiments, infleunce on
my porject and auidence appeal
are the mian prioroities when
it comes to experimentation
with what should be new,
unfamiliar editing and camera
tricks or any other
processes that my be influential
to the project im working
towards completing.
Action Plan
4.1 Pre-Production 5.1 Production
6.1 Production
Reflection
6.2 Evaluation
• Because of how succesful my last pre-
production was, achieving a distinction level, I
intend of following trhough with the same, if
not very similar ideals as I'll take into account
my previous projects and what I had
undergone to achieve this grade; consistent of
idea development, style sheets, layout
concepts, fonts considerations, color schmes,
song/sound choices, story generation,
structural breakdowns, character creation,
storyboarding, shot lists, genre
establishments, location refinement, potential
techniques and many more, all I hopes of
achieving a well-rounded, consideration for
everything ahead of production so that when
it comes to filming and photoshoots, it should
run a lot smoother and achieve deadlines
whilst remaining extremely detialed as the
auidence, infleunce of production, impact itll
create, emotion emphasise, atmospheric
tones, and reasonings behidn certain
processes will be referanced towards
everything for a clearer understanding.
• Avoiding the fact that I ahd slight
improvements and feeedback to made
according to the product I had created,
which wont perticualrly infleunce my
fmp in any way, I think its important to
consider creating and folllowing
trhough with a prodcution schedule,
because this introduces a new strategy
to myself (having never done
somethinbg like this previosuly), and I
can then mange all the different
aspects that I need to follow through
with in correlation to deadlines that
need to be met, often opening up the
opportunity to get feedback and
improve the products before the
submission date so that the outcomes
are the best they can possibly be.
• Achieving what is a
distinction level piece of work in
my reflections, I don’t think
there is much I could have
improved upon that may change
this section for the better
when receiving 'excellent
reflections' as my feedback, but
its apparent to me that I could
have looked at other aspects,
including a more in
depth analysis on strengths and
weaknesses, to bulk out
this daily reflection document
and understand some of the
main accomplishments and
failures of the day, and
reasonings why.
• Going through each of the stages
that sum up my entire porject
(research, planning,
and production mainly), looking
at briefly what I had done during
this phase, the strengths and
weaknesses , the time
managemtn spent during its
development, and improvemnts I
would make looking back at its full
conclusion, this gave myslef a
distinction level piece of work and
I intend on doing the same here
for my fmp, with the adition to
certain aspects of production and
an overview to the whole porject
and final outcome whether its
what I intended on producing or
not having now completed it.

Editor's Notes

  1. Reference what you achieved marks you are happy (or happier) with. You may have got Passes throughout, but some areas you may feel you will have done better in even though they achieved the same grade- focus on these bits. For developments, reference any specific tasks you were disappointed in, or want to improve upon in the FMP.
  2. Use the feedback provided to briefly summarise your plans to ensure you achieve your desired grade in each task.
  3. Use the feedback provided to briefly summarise your plans to ensure you achieve your desired grade in each task.
