Presentation by Mr. Marc-Oliver Pahl, Ministry for Environment, Agriculture, Conservation and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany The 2nd OECD Roundtable on Cities and Regions for the SDGs was held at the World Conference Center in Bonn, Germany, on 9 December 2019, within the scope of the OECD programme on A Territorial Approach to the SDGs. The Roundtable brought together cities, regions, national governments, international organisations, private sector and other key stakeholders to identify trends and challenges in the localisation of the SDGs, including the experiences and key findings from the pilots of the programme.

ecological, economical, social
Acknowledge the planetary boundaries
Contribute to the implementation of the SDGs
Tailor it to the needs and possibilities of North Rhine-Westphalia
Align efforts with the German Federal Sustainability Strategy
Close cooperation with Cities

9. Governance Framework
 Strategy 2.0 to be adopted by February 2020
 Inter-ministerial working group is steering the process
 Goals covering all SDGs (2/3 identical or similar to Federal strategy,
many also in use on local level)
 Strategic dialogue with cities (on the political level but also with the
administration and local ngos, coordinated by LAG 21 NRW)
 Combined support for strategy development in cities by the
federal + the state government (SKEW/LAG 21 „GNK“ programme)
 Institutionalized exchange also with ngos, business sector and
academia (TEAM Sustainability Wuppertal Institute)
