The 1st OECD Roundtable on Cities and Regions for the SDGs was held at the OECD Headquarters in Paris on 7 March 2019, within the scope of the OECD programme on A Territorial Approach to the SDGs. The Roundtable brought together cities, regions, national governments, international organisations, private sector and other key stakeholders to identify trends and challenges in the localisation of the SDGs, including the experiences and key findings from the pilots of the programme.

2. Support of BMZ for municipalities in Germany
On behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic
Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the
Service Agency has been providing advisory and
other services to municipalities and other local
actors since 2001.
Around 800 municipalities are engaged with
support of the Service Agency
Major topics are:
• Strengthen municipal partnerships and
decentralized development cooperation
• Municipalities for Global Sustainability and
localizing the Agenda 2030 and the SDGs
• promote fair procurement as a municipal
contribution towards fair and sustainable
trade
• support networking in the field of ‘migration
and development’ and cooperation with
local diasporas

3. Showcase Project 2018
“Localizing the 2030 Agenda”
• Main Target: Integrating the principles of the
2030 Agenda into local development planning
• Local: Integrated pilot projects in five federals
states with around 50 municipalities
 Further expansion planned with 3 additional states
• Global: Municipal Partnerships for Sustainability
 two municipalities work together on a structured
basis on topics relating to the 2030 Agenda.
