3. 2024 NATIONAL POLICE WEEK
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed Public
Law 87-726 designating May 15th as Peace
Officers’ Memorial Day and the week in which
May 15th falls as National Police Week
It is this time we offer honor, remembrance, and
peer support, while allowing law enforcement ,
survivors and citizens to gather and pay homage
to those who gave their lives in the line of duty

4. 2024 NATIONAL POLICE WEEK
In 2023, one-hundred thirty-one (131) police
officers were killed in the line of duty; fifty-six
(56) to date 2024
On behalf of all police officers who have made
the ultimate sacrifice, regardless of circumstances,
we respectfully request flags at City Hall be
lowered to half-staff on Police Memorial Day,
May 15th, 2024

EMS profession and its importance in
protecting the safety and health of our citizens
May 19-25, 2024 marks the 50th
Anniversary of EMS Week
EMS Appreciation Day is May 25th, 2024

 May 19th – 25th, 2024
 Official recognition of the importance of public
works in an organized society & sheds light on brave
& essential role public works employees play in our
lives
 Public works an indispensable part of any
developed society – sanitation, roads, dams, bridges
& power grids
 American Public Works Association (APWA)
established in 1937
 Public Works Week established in 1960
 City’s Public Works to recognize most tenured
employee for inaugural recognition

8. MAY COUNCIL MEETING RESCHEDULED
Monday, May 27, 2024 rescheduled to
Tuesday, May 28, 2024 (Memorial Day
Holiday)
