For a magazine cover, film poster, and trailer promoting a psychological thriller film, the document discusses the imagery used. A plain white face mask is the sole image used on the magazine cover to make it less cluttered. The same mask image is featured on the poster and in the trailer to create consistency. Additional images on the poster include the logos of real and fictional film production companies. Footage from the filmed scenes and a desolate landscape establish the remote setting in the trailer.
2. For my magazine cover, I will most likely only use one image which is the main image of the
white plain face mask used in the trailer. By using one image alone, I think it will make the
magazine look less cluttered and visually distracting. Also, a house-style is somewhat created
from using consistent props which should in turn make the three products seem more
professional. As the mask is just plain white, it also means that the image should stand out
more from the dark colour scheme I have matched with it. As I have only used one image, I
was aiming to make sure it stood out on the cover as much as possible which is why I have
used a darker colour scheme, more specifically, I have used a black psychedelic pattern. By
adding this and fading it slightly, I feel my magazine cover now looks more unique, visually
appealing and matches the style of the film which is related to psychological ways and can be
slightly confusing.
For my film poster, I have used more images in comparison to my magazine cover. For the
film's main image, I will most likely use the same image of the mask (prop) I have used on the
magazine cover, therefore hopefully enhancing the idea of an iconic and memorable
image/film because if the product is noticed by the same image then it will become more
memorable to my target audience. Other images I have used so far, have been the small film
production company logos that I have said to be included with the creation of my movie. Ones
I have used are professional and real-life companies Rogue and Dark Look and ones entitled
Silver Screen Pictures and Axe Films I have created myself using Photoshop. These logos have
also been used in my trailer meaning that, again, my products are all linked together. I have
placed these logos at the bottom of the poster (in-keeping with the conventions of most film
posters) alongside the credits where the companies are also mentioned and are reasonably
understandable to an audience.
For the trailer, the imagery used in mainly the footage I have previously filmed using my two
main actresses and a the props of the face mask and the dog. I had filmed most of my footage
that will be in my final product on a weekend where the weather was reasonably decent. I also
used, what I feel to be a dynamic background of an empty large space of land called a fell
where it appears to be remote and isolated and devoid of many people. Other imagery used is
the BBFC certificate that I copied from a professional one and created my own on Photoshop,
again to heighten the level of professionalism that my product seems to embody. I have also
used as previously explained other intertitles featured in the trailer that other professional
products have incorporated.
