1. Advert analysis
This is an advert, which shows the dates for Muse’s tour dates in Wembley
Stadium. This advert shows the band logo right at the top in the left hand corner,
this has been done to acquire the audience’s attention to what band it is. It also
has a very simple and basic color scheme like many other adverts. This is done so
that the target audience does not get confused or overwhelmed by too many
colors. The use of the “Sticker” image has been placed over the first date and
another one has been placed at the end of the other date to further emphasize
the fact that too many people have already wanted to go to the gig and therefore,
they have arranged for another date to be added to give people the chance to see
the band live. The only image is of Wembley Stadium that is shown from a
2. downward angle to show the horizon. This puts the image of the stadium into
perspective as then the audience can see how big the venue is and this further
adds to the feeling that the audience is lucky to get another date if it has already
been sold out on the first date. This makes the audience feel compelled to go
because they will think that they should go because another date has been
added.
The horizon has been altered to look almost completely black and empty and the
sun itself has ben darkened and been made to look red rather than orange to fit
the dark color scheme as it complies with the theme ad genre of the band. This
also emphasizes the size of the stadium, which has been altered to look brighter
to contrast the background. This however, has been placed to take up the entire
bottom half of the poster to draw attention away from the band logo which
therefore balances the poster out to make the target audience look at the whole
thing rather than a part of it. Because of this, the way we read this is from top to
bottom and we take notice of the text and the information which is in the middle
of the advert.
The advert shows that the band are a rock/alternative band due to the color
scheme and logo yet the image of Wembley Stadium suggests to people who
aren’t fans of Muse that the band are becoming more and more mainstream as
then they are popular enough to play one of the biggest venues in the UK. This
allows the band to reach out to more of a general audience rather than keeping
the advert specific to their fan base.
