1. Storyboard Ideas for Chorus Onwards
Chorus 1
Show front view of singer as the line “Struggle Within” comes in.
Cut to the band members from a canted angle and some of the narrative showing
the character/actor showing the different moods he is in.
Cut back to the singer in a low angle shot (to give the look that the singer is
telling him the story personally rather than just singing it with the band)
On the last line of the chorus start the running (Hand-Held) shot of the character
walking down the street – Camera behind the character showing the back of
them.
Have the camera slowly walk around the character as he starts to turn his head
to look into the character.
Jump cut to the character not there with a “Flash” effect. Then cut to the camera
showing the character walking off yet have it jump cut to the character going
from different distances away.
Verse 2
When the verse comes back in with the lyrics, show the band performing from a
long shot to show the start of a new section.
High angle shot of the room being empty and then have the character enter
within the frame rather than through the door. (“Prison Cell”)
Cut back to the band playing the song from a side view, showing the singer in the
main two thirds of the frame then in the background have the bassist or other
guitarist in the shot.
Cut to the main character just walking around in the room
Cut to the backing singers from an eye-level medium shot
Cut to the drummer playing from a behind view (Show the back of the drummer
playing the kit)
Show the shot of the main character being a little paranoid and sat down then cut
back to the singer and back to the character now stood up looking directly at the
camera
Cut zoom in with a canted angle or two thrown in the middle of it so it reflect the
character being unstable
2. Cut back to the drummer but now play him in half speed (slow down in the edit)
and cut between the guitarists “moshing” in time to the music
Chorus 2
Cut to one of the guitarists playing in a power stance, in time with the music
Cut zoom in on the backing singer with a close up showing the face and
microphone
Cut to the drummer in a medium shot, then to the main character in a cemetery
looking down at a gravestone (long shot)
Speed up the camera walking towards the character to enter an over the
shoulder shot looking down at a gravestone.
Cut back to the band playing in half speed (show each member) in time with the
music a little bit to add to the time change.
As the song just “rings” show a shot of the character standing at the end of an
alleyway/run down street. Then show the band playing and cut to the drummer
playing the snare roll to enter the solo.
Solo
“Struggle” show the singer stood there in the center of the frame (medium shot)
FADE TO BLACK (candle being blown out)
Fade in showing a shot of the guitarist facing away from the camera slightly to
the left of the frame
Cut to the main character running down a street
Jump cut to him turning up at a house
Cut back to a small tracking shot/pan of the drummer from the front
Back to the guy on the stairs from a close up shot
Back to the guitarist in a pose playing the solo
Reverse the shot of the character walking up the stairs so they walk back down
Show a shot of the guitarist playing from a shot looking up the guitar (attached to
the guitar)
Show shots of the band cutting form the drummer to the bassist and then back to
the guitarist then the drummer and then enter the last verse from there.
3. Last verse to finish
Medium-Long shot of the whole band playing
Cut zoom on the guitarist – then bassist – then drummer
Cut to the character sat in a room just bored and alone (high angle shot)
Show each member of the band playing at half speed (each member in turn)
Super impose the backing singers near the main singer to the right of the frame
Show a medium shot of the main character with their hood up
Back to bassist playing to the camera, slightly at a low angle
Slightly closer shot of the main character (just head and shoulders this time)
Back to the drummer playing (from the front view – medium close up)
Close up of character smiling (just the face is in view)
Back to the band in half speed (whole band shot)
Back to an extreme close up of character
To the drummer to finish the song off (front and overhead view)
