Md. Saef Ul Arifeen is a seasoned professional with over decade of leadership experience in the major financial
industries of Banking, Capital Market, and Money Market etc. While he grew up in areas of Compliance, Internal
Audit, Finance, Accounts, Treasury, Business Development, Human Resources, Training, Organization
Development and Operational Risk Management across financial industries, he has been developing policies and
procedures within his work jurisdiction for quite some time.
As Head of Internal Control & Compliance, he is currently leading the Audit & Compliance activities of
Riverstone Capital Limited, a pioneer capital market intermediary in Bangladesh. He is also playing the role of
Chief Anti-Money Laundering Compliance officer at Riverstone Capital Limited.
For more than a decade, Mr. Saef has been active in the financial industries of Bangladesh and worked for
institutions like HSBC and Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC. Prior joining to capital market institution, he has
served as the Country Head of Compliance Monitoring at HSBC Bangladesh. Prior to that he had served as
Global Audit Manager at Asia Pacific Audit in HSBC for 5 years. He had performed as Operational Risk
Manager in HSBC for 2 years. He had been awarded the ‘Silver Medal’ (2nd
position) for the Best Risk Initiator
for his risk management role in Asia Pacific in 2011. He had played various roles in Treasury Management,
Finance, Accounts, Liability Management and in e-Banking platforms of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC. at
early phases of his career.
Along with institutional in-house training, he has conducted several training sessions on “Risk Management and
Control infrastructure” and other key areas of Audit and compliance, operational risk, capital adequacy and
market manifestation etc. arranged by HSBC Asia Pacific, HSBC Bangladesh, Bangladesh Bank etc. He has
took part in more than 100 global workshops and training sessions (both in-house and offsite) and conducted
more than 50 training and workshops in various risk management, audit and compliance events in Asia Pacific
countries. In Riverstone Capital Ltd., he has been leading the Nation-wide Financial Literacy Program of BSEC
under International Network for Financial Literacy (INFE) platform. He has been regularly taking part in various
international risk management annual summits organised by Inventicon Business Intelligence Pvt. Ltd. to
enhance and study the risk management infrastructure around the globe and its perspective in Bangladesh. While
in HSBC, he played an active role in policy development in areas of risk management, audit and compliance.
His niche lies in leadership and team dynamics development, where he wants to dedicate himself to molding
vibrant leaders who believe they can make the world a better place through their active contribution.
As a trainer, he infuses trainings with sincerity, dynamism and humor, spurring learners to pass the distance in
realizing their truest best selves. Besides being an adept facilitator of various behavioral profiling tools, he is
also a trained career consultant, helping employees and employers to match jobs, role profiles and careers with
appropriate talents, skills and interests. In his decade of training experience, he has been a key training curriculum
developer for HSBC and Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC. His training programs have influenced audiences
across countries i.e., Hong Kong, China, India, Thailand and Malaysia. His diverse background and versatility
in training both youth and adult audiences enabled him to tap on a plethora of experiences in sharing, connecting
and engaging with people. Known for his creative training methodologies, he always try to inject a catalytic
blend of positive energy and resonant experiences throughout his training sessions. With a Passion to make a
difference, he always believes in the power of inspiring transformations. He envisions training and development
as a platform for every person to discover the limits of their potential – and exceed them.

Prior joining to capital market institution, he has served as the Country Head of Compliance Monitoring at HSBC Bangladesh. Prior to that he had served as Global Audit Manager at Asia Pacific Audit in HSBC for 5 years. He had performed as Operational Risk Manager in HSBC for 2 years. He had been awarded the ‘Silver Medal’ (2nd position) for the Best Risk Initiator for his risk management role in Asia Pacific in 2011. He had played various roles in Treasury Management, Finance, Accounts, Liability Management and in e-Banking platforms of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC. at early phases of his career. Along with institutional in-house training, he has conducted several training sessions on “Risk Management and Control infrastructure” and other key areas of Audit and compliance, operational risk, capital adequacy and market manifestation etc. arranged by HSBC Asia Pacific, HSBC Bangladesh, Bangladesh Bank etc. He has took part in more than 100 global workshops and training sessions (both in-house and offsite) and conducted more than 50 training and workshops in various risk management, audit and compliance events in Asia Pacific countries. In Riverstone Capital Ltd., he has been leading the Nation-wide Financial Literacy Program of BSEC under International Network for Financial Literacy (INFE) platform. He has been regularly taking part in various international risk management annual summits organised by Inventicon Business Intelligence Pvt. Ltd. to enhance and study the risk management infrastructure around the globe and its perspective in Bangladesh. While in HSBC, he played an active role in policy development in areas of risk management, audit and compliance. His niche lies in leadership and team dynamics development, where he wants to dedicate himself to molding vibrant leaders who believe they can make the world a better place through their active contribution.
