INFRASTRUCTURE/PROJECT FINANCE:
KAMAL EL ASSAAD – Ms of Science in global Finance & Ms in Civil Engineering
Objective:
After spending 10 years in the environmental Industry and successfully tackling major
projects I look forward to transfer my experience to the infrastructure finance industry
which I believe holds enormous opportunities especially in Asia and Africa. To be ready for
such challenges, I decided to add to my master of engineering and experience, a master
of finance from two renowned business schools. I aim at transferring my skills around the
cycle of a project finance being:
- Upstream opportunity proposal: Identify opportunities, undergo partners due
diligence, select industrials and financial partners and analyze the financial vehicles
- Structuring the deal: Coordinate the different actors of the proposal, define, calibrate
and optimize the financial structure, define the risks life cycle and negotiate the
terms of funding.
- Close the deal
- Transfer to the execution team and monitor shareholder’s return.
- Implement potential exit strategy
I look at a company which shares a long term vision within the infrastructure finance based
on a sustainable strategy.
Profile:
I’m highly motivated by challenges and pragmatic. I look forward to transfer the skills I
developed throughout the years in delivering an engineering scope within budget and
planning in the challenging environment of the construction industry. I successfully
managed international teams with multi cultural stakeholders (Europe, India, Middle East,
US, China and South East Asia)
I intend to transfer my professional experience and my financial academic background to
the industry of project finance. I’m confident in my ability to successfully develop business
ventures in the infrastructure project finance within a motivated team.
I’m not afraid of change and on the contrary, I look at it as an opportunity. Also, I look to
cultural diversity as an important driver of learning and success in a more global word.
Last but not least, I believe in the professional business ethic based on transparency and a
sustainable business environment when looking at a potential employer as I do believe in
the long term relationship when involved in the future development of a company and mine
at the same time.
Work history:
I have been working in the environmental industry for the past 10 years with a leading
international firm Suez and specifically in the water and wastewater industry. My past
experienced got me involve in major international projects which can be significant useful
within an international company with a significant portion of its revenues around the word.
My experience in the design and construction stages and understanding the risks
associated are an asset for long term infrastructure projects as I can bridge the gap
between the construction and financial risks of a project.
