2. Graphic Design Experiments
Strengths;
• It has a short and brief description of the
course ("Creative Media Level 2.")
• I've applied a picture of the college and the
logo (to represent a college as a whole.)
• Whilst applying a set of skills that would be
taught throughout the cause.
• It also sticks to the York College colour
scheme.
Weaknesses;
• It's not overly exciting and quite bland.
• There's not much going on (empty space.)
3. Graphic Design Production
• Advantages of working in this medium
– It's provided an opportunity to get familiar with
the techniques and layout of photoshop.
• Disadvantages of working in this medium
• It was quite limited in creative potential as it
was a college advertisement apposed to
something as vast as a film poster.
4. Graphic Design Production
This design of poster shares the simplicity; with
the classic glass bottle design being put on
showcase. However it escapes the complete flat
aesthetic that I used by applying 3D smashed
glass at the bottom.
Again this design sticks to a 2D style yet it
includes the different variation of coke. On the
other hand my in my design I took to only the
three out of the four; and implemented them
so each one was completely on display.
5. Graphic Design Production
Strengths;
• It works with three of the common
flavor cokes, (three's a nice number
to work with as it doesn't over
complicate thing.)
• It's not too in your face yet keeps
the design simple and flashy.
• I've created a clever slogan using
the three bottles to my advantage
("choose - your - flavor.")
• I also encourage the audience to
try the product with the line
"everyone has a flavor. What's
yours?" - This makes the viewer
feel left out of this group if they
haven't drank coke and/or got a
favorite – thus they're pushed to
buying the product.
Weaknesses;
• It doesn't have any real details on
the brand or product.
• It doesn't display all of the cokes.
• It hasn't listed the names of the
actual flavors.
6. Radio Production
• Advantages of working in this medium
– It being an audio, it's less straining on work as no
visuals are required.
– It also prepares us for when we do need to work
with future projects with audio requirements.
• Disadvantages of working in this medium
– Because it's an audio only medium - (meaning
there's no visual,) thus limiting the experience for
the audience.
7. Radio Production
• In our ad we start off with the opening of a
can and finishing it by drinking it, as you
would if you were drinking it yourself.
• The dialog in-between this is a the
character/narrator explain the wonders of
Coke-Cola, - making the product seem more
appealing to the audience.
8. Radio Production
• Unfortunately our original idea we found to quite
weak which forced us to start an alternative.
• On the other hand, with a new idea we found it
easy to write a script, record and edit.
• Though it's not a radio advert it shares the over-
arcing theme of mission impossible. However we
only stole the iconic theme song rather than the
having anything else from the franchise; -

10. Video Game Production
• Advantages of working in this medium
– It applies a new experience to advertisement. Because
it's a game it's interactive; with the intention of being
fun; which could be found allot less "in your face" and
straining to the audience, - (apposed to radio and
posters.)
• Disadvantages of working in this medium
– Whilst being less - "in your face," it could let the
viewer focus on the game rather than the actual
product being advertised...
– Depending on what the game's run on (take Flash for
example,) they'd have to have Flash in order to play.
11. Video Game Production
Though not being actual adv-game
this artist share the pixelated quality
with a similar color pallet. It also
stars a character/figure in which
heavily inspired the final design I
used.
This particular piece resembles the
cave I used for my game. Hover the
color pallet it for saturated with a
bolder tone.
Despite this being neither a game of
any description nor pixelated; it
apply the same color pallet, whilst
achieving an almost identical look to
the final look of the background in
my adv-game.
(Unfortunately I was
unable to find an actual
adv-game similar to my
final product...)
12. Video Game Production
• To create the complex textures I found it
was better to create three separate tones
(light-tone, mid-tone and dark-tone.) I
also decided to draw the pixels by hand –
apposed to using a noise/static affect.
• The he background of three main layer -
"Foreground," "Platform" and
"Background.
• In the advancement of shading I used a
combination of
• To create the glow worms I dotted a
couple random spots in darker areas,
followed up with a "gaussian blur" -
affect to give the illusion of glowing.
• The Slogan reflects the adventure within
the adv game using the metaphor -
"coke, explore the taste. This pushes the
person to try the range of Colas without
being overly pushy on the audience.
13. Video Game Production
Strengths;
• The quality of the graphic/art are to a high standard.
Weakness;
• It doesn't overly link to coca-cola.
• It's a subtle plug for the brand.
• The art style's heavily based of another – meaning it's
not very original and/or iconic..
14. Comparison
Which product do you believe advertises the product the best? Why?
• I feel like poster did the best job of advertising the actual product as
it displayed the big 3 main coca-colas, with a creative text on each
of the bottles to form the sentence - "choose your flavour." This
invites the audience to try all three of the cokes where the other
products are less exact.
Which of your products is the most professional? Why?
• In appearance, I feel like it took a professional looking pixelated
game however it strayed from the promoting the product.
• But as an overall element I'd say the poster (again) as it doing the
job of promoting the product, includes the audience and keeps to
the simple vector of the coke bottle. A technique that can be
sampled from the official, licensed Coke-Cola posters.
