Guidelines on Galaw Pilipinas:
The DepEd National Calisthenics
Exercise Program
Establish the promotion and
implementation of Galaw Pilipinas as
the national calisthenics, to achieve
an active lifestyle among all types of
learners in all key stages.
4. Galaw Pilipinas as DepEd national
calisthenics exercise program shall
be part of daily exercise routine in the
schools and learning community.
5. 4 - minute calisthenics routine
Galaw Pilipinas: The DepEd National Calisthenics Exercise Program
Contribute to the 6O minutes of moderate to
vigorous physical activity (MVPA) prescribed daily for
children 5-17 years of age (WHO Physical Activity
Guidelines, 2O2O).
Shall replace the different dances or exercises
performed during flag raising ceremony, flag retreat,
start of the class, or school initiated activities.
6. Inspired by Philippine folk dances and festivals
Include Arnis stances
Folk Dance Movement:
rigodon royal, tinikling, and maglalatik
Festival:
Sinulog, Higalaay, and Kalilang
Recognition of Arnis as the Philippine national martial art and
sport.

Galaw Pilipinas shall be performed by all learners under
any of the learning delivery modalities.
Flag Ceremony, flag retreat, or before the start of the class
Galaw Pilipinas shall be part of school/CLC – initiated
activities.
8. Galaw Pilipinas: The DepEd National Calisthenics Exercise Program
The steps/movement patterns along with their
history/origin shall be taught to learners.
The intensity of the execution of the Galaw
Pilipinas shall vary according to the type of
learners and their key stages.
9. a) Promote an active lifestyle for Filipinos that will
benefit both their physical and socioemotional
well-being.
The national calisthenics Galaw Pilipinas aims to:
b) Improve strength, flexibility, cardio-vascular
endurance, coordination, and balance.
c) Enhance cultural awareness by integrating
Philippine cultures in the calisthenics exercises.
d) Inculcate nationalism, unity, and discipline.

It is envisioned that eventually Filipinos will
familiarize themselves with the calisthenics
routine and be able to perform them anywhere
they are.
