Challenge: I am having trouble this week with having a free realm of what to teach.
It is hard when I get an idea in mind and then my teacher wants us to do something
different for the day. I am beginning to learn to compromise with her and allow both
ideas to be incorporated within the lesson. Is there any way you could co-plan so
that both of your ideas are considered? Since I started teaching yesterday I am still
trying to establish a classroom management plan that works for me. How do you
think your classroom management plan is working? The students are still getting
used to me, and I am still doing the same and we are trying to find a way we can
work together well. This may take a little while, but that is ok. I want us to build a
team within the classroom and allow for real learning to take place. Have you talked
to Doyle about this? I wonder if she knows that you want this freedom to do
something different than her, and how she would react?
Success: My students encouraged me to keep having a positive attitude when I sat
with them at lunch today. A group of them talked with me and initiated
conversation. How often do your students initiate conversation with you at lunch?
They said I was very patient with them, listened to them, and didn’t do boring
pointless activities. This made me analyze my teaching and understand that many of
my students do need the wait time, blurt outs, and questions to understand their
own thinking and before they have been restricted from doing so. I also want to
make sure I do not give students too much leniency in the classroom but keep them
on task using critical thinking assignments.Do you feel that “blurtouts” are okay in
the classroom? How does this help students learn? What kinds of critical thinking
assignments are you using in your classroom? How much is too much leniency?
Passed the GACE!WooohoooooThis is not really all that impressive. I suggest you
delete this. <3 Haley
