Most Essential Learning
Competencies (MELCs) include
knowledge, understanding, skills
attitudes that need to demonstrate
in every lesson.

In each quarter, all target LCs and
/or MELCs have to be taught in
specific mandatory/ non-
negotiable contact days/weeks as
reflected in the BOW.

MELCs is applicable for S.Y.2020-
2021 only.

Schools are enjoined to adhere to the content
of the MELCs and refrain from creating a new
list of learning competencies for different
learning areas.

The MELC PIVOT 4A is a teaching
resource material and reference that
contains LCs, MELCs and time allotment
arranged into columns for easy reference
and notation
Most Essential Learning Competencies
(MELCs)
The MELC PIVOT 4 A BOWs used the
MELCs as they focus in each quarter in each
learning area and grade level. The number of
MELCs varies from one quarter to another and
one grade level to another . In planning lessons for
each quarter, teacher shall look into the MELC
PIVOT 4A BOW and locate the indicated MELCs.
Budget of Work (BOW
• specific MELCs, LCs
• number of days to be taught in
reference to the targets of each learning
area and grade level
• provides greater attention
-relevant learning competencies
-enabling and enrichment competencies.
Enabling and Enrichment Competencies
• This MELCS and LCs were identified using the SMART
test
• Enabling and enrichment competencies are written
in objective form under knowledge, skills and/or
attitude/values targets. In the MELC PIVOT 4A BOW,
some LCs are already function as enabling
competencies in achievingthe MELCs or other LCs.
• Other MELCs and LCs in need of enabling and
enrichment competencies are also identified in the
process.
Is a technique teachers can use to
make sense of standards, and then
create focused learning targets to
make them actionable. This process,
also called “deconstructing” or
“unwrapping” standards, fosters a
collaborative dialogue that supports
growth and effectiveness.

1. Form a group, preferably with fellow teachers in your
respective learning area.
2. Using PIVOT 4A BOW and MELCs in the Second quarter,
identify each MELC if it is need to unpack.If your answer is NO,
move to the next MELC, if YES, write your unpacked LC or
learning in the column 3.
3.For the fourth column, put the number of days to teach the
suggested unpacked competencies.
4. Each group will choose representative to present their
output.

  • 2. 1. Review the context of the PIVOT BOW and the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) 2. Unpack the MELCS in all learning areas for 2nd Quarter that needs adjustment.

  • 4. 01 Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) include knowledge, understanding, skills attitudes that need to demonstrate in every lesson. Shout Out mo yan te!

  • 15. The MELC PIVOT 4A is a teaching resource material and reference that contains LCs, MELCs and time allotment arranged into columns for easy reference and notation
  • 16. Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) The MELC PIVOT 4 A BOWs used the MELCs as they focus in each quarter in each learning area and grade level. The number of MELCs varies from one quarter to another and one grade level to another . In planning lessons for each quarter, teacher shall look into the MELC PIVOT 4A BOW and locate the indicated MELCs.
  • 17. Budget of Work (BOW • specific MELCs, LCs • number of days to be taught in reference to the targets of each learning area and grade level • provides greater attention -relevant learning competencies -enabling and enrichment competencies.

Enabling and Enrichment Competencies • This MELCS and LCs were identified using the SMART test • Enabling and enrichment competencies are written in objective form under knowledge, skills and/or attitude/values targets. In the MELC PIVOT 4A BOW, some LCs are already function as enabling competencies in achievingthe MELCs or other LCs. • Other MELCs and LCs in need of enabling and enrichment competencies are also identified in the process.

Each group will choose representative to present their output.
