4. ⚬JIH is a teaching hospital, linked with Women
Medical & Dental College, founded & functional
in 2015.
⚬ I worked there as an internee for 2 months in
the department of pathology.
⚬The DOP had multiple domains, I spent a week
in each section.
⚬Observation of diagnostic testing and working
of manual and semi-automated machines.

MICROBIOLOGY
7. Importance
Definition
Hematology department deals with
blood, blood-forming organs, and blood-
related disorders and diseases.
⚬In Hematology section i observed that
how different types of testing helps in
the diagnosis of a wide range of benign
and malignant disorders of blood cells,
platelets, and the coagulation system.
⚬In the diagnosis of life-threatening
illnesses like hemophilia, anemia,
leukemia, lymphomas, and infections.
8. Hematological Tests
Phlebotomy&BloodBanking
Venipuncture
Bleeding a Donor
DDimer&ESR
Erythrocytes Sedimentation rate to check the
inflammatory Activity and D- Dimer to figure
out the clotting problems.
PT,CT,PT&APTT
Bleeding Time, Clotting Time, Prothrombin
Time, and Activated Partial Thromboplastin
Times for determining the functioning of the
Coagulation cascade.
CBC
A complete Blood Count is a routine test for
determining the overall health of the body as
well as the detection of a wide range of
disorders.
10. Definition
Serology includes the
measurement and
characterization of
immunological substances
in body fluids.
Importance
⚬In th department of
serology i came across
methods through which the
detection of infection & its
cause was detected
through antibodies in body
fluids.
11. ImmunochromatographicAssays
Onsite rapid test to detect the presence or absence of target analyte,
such as antibodies against Syphilis, HIV, Dengue, HCV, etc.
BloodGroupingandCrossmatch
To find a compatible blood type for transfusion.
Laboratory Tests
13. Definition
The area of chemistry deals with the
analysis of bodily fluids, and
biochemical processes for diagnostic
and therapeutic purposes.
Importance
⚬ The domain of general chemistry was
majorly concerned with liver & kidney
functioning, therapeutic drug
monitoring, and abnormal levels of
biochemicals in body fluids.
⚬ Whereas special chemistry dealt with
the diagnosis of haemoglobin
abnormalities, blood glucose history,
and endocrine disorders.
15. Definition
Microbiology testing involves
culturing, sensitivity, and staining for
the detection of microorganisms in
different fluids causing multiple
infections and required treatments.
Importance
⚬Bacterial or viral infections were
detected by analyzing the abnormal
components in blood, urine, sputum, or
pus.
⚬ It also detects the reasons for the
presence of those abnormal
components which cause Urinary tract
infections in the urinary bladder, urethra,
ureter, or kidneys.
17. Learning Outcomes
Be formal responsible and professional
Enhanced decision-making capacity.
Improved interpersonal and communication skills.
You can learn more through observation rather
than asking
Be vigilant at work and always fulfil the task given
in time.
Developed attitudinal, technical, and cognitive skills.
The work environment is totally different from the
University environment
