Name of the Experiment: Preparation of Egg Shampoo.
Principle: Shampoo is the hair preparation that is designed for providing sufficient cleansing
power together with adequate foam for removing soil from the hair and scalp without reducing
natural oiliness so that the hair is left with a natural view and in a soft and manageable
condition.
The shampoo has some purposes or function that are given below-
To keep the hair in soft and lustrous condition with good manageability and minimum
of fly away.
To remove dandruff.
To import a pleasant fragrance.
Ingredients:
Soap powder (Sodium lauryl sulfate) acts as a detergent, by making foam. It also acts
as a surfactant.
Di-Sodium-orthophosphate is used as a chelating agent. Sometimes it is called an
emulsifying agent that stabilizes the emulsion.
Procedure:
1. 1 gm Sodium lauryl sulfate is dissolved in 15 ml rose water.
2. The heat is applied for 3 minutes for a proper solution.
3. 0.5 gm Di Sodium-orthophosphate is dissolved in 10 ml water and heat is applied for a few
minutes.
4. Then both solutions mix with continuous stirring.
5. An egg is ruptured and half of the portion of the mixtures of egg yolk and white of an egg,
which mixed vigorously then added to the solution and shaken properly.
Cautions:
Wash and clean all the equipment before starting the experiment.
Triturate uniformly.
Justification of the use of shampoo:
Remove dandruff and soft hair and scalp for black and shiny hair overall impart a pleasant
fragrance to the hair.
