1. 5 TIPS WHEN PREPARING FOR
YOUR MBA INTERVIEW
Often there’s a time gap between completing your essays, resume and
other sections in your application and getting your interview call.
Review your application and make sure you can explain everything
that’s there in it.

Your application is just one piece of the story. Questions such as “What are
your strengths?” or “Describe your leadership style?” or “Have you applied to
other B-Schools?” require you to have a strong understand of self and your
motivations to apply to a B-School. It also means you should retrospect to
understand the decisions and choices that’ve shaped your life.
Writing helps you understand if your responses are convoluted, lengthy or
just plain unconvincing. It’s important to avoid the tendency to improvise
during the interview. Improvisation often leads to unstructured responses
that can leave interviewers unclear about many things potentially ranging
from your communication skills to your achievements.
“The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is practice” – practicing
your responses help you become more comfortable with your narratives,
translating into improved confidence. When practicing always time yourself
to ensure your responses don’t go beyond 2-3 minutes.
Mock interviews are extremely helpful to gain diverse perspectives and
to practice under pressure. Ask someone – friend, colleague, or an MBA
consultant to conduct mock interviews for you. Seek detailed, honest
feedback to do any course corrections early on.
