INTRODUCTION
Grease from animals and plants have been used in production as well
as in the life of a long time, this is also a major energy supplier. Grease is
one of three basic food groups and indispensable importance in the
physiological activity of the body as well as in the daily diet of humans. To
the present time, oil has become one of the essential items and are
frequently used in cooking for a lot of families from urban to rural
areas. Understand that, Vietnam has many kind of oils with ingredients,
flavors and colors in the market… which are varied and attractive.
According to statistics on the country, there are more than 30
enterprises producing vegetable oil. The big brands dominate the domestic
oil market include Cai Lan, TAC, Golden Hope ... These are big brands
dominated the domestic market as well as export market. Parallel to
process used oil, oil processing technology is well developed, from the
extraction of oil revenues to help the oil refining techniques have higher
quality. And Golden Hope Nha Be company is one of the companies
holding a large market, sharing in the field of vegetable oil. With two major
oils are palm oil and soybean oil, with strict quality control and tight from
receipt of materials to the bottling process. Companies are adopting
integrated production process, with modern equipment, ensure the quality,
safety and hygiene.
Therefore, I have chosen the theme “A survey of business activities
of Golden Hope Edible Oils Company” in this practice time.

CONTENTS
CHAPTER 1: THEORETICAL BASIS
1.1. Overview of edible oil industry in Vietnam
1.1.1. Daily trend
Within oils and fats, vegetable and seed-oil remained the biggest
category over the review period. Indeed, many consumers in smaller cities
and rural areas started to use vegetable and seed-oil to replace animal fats
and home-made vegetable and seed-oil. This trend was fostered by better
living standards, better disposable income and better knowledge of the
health benefits of vegetable and see- oil compared with animal fats.
Furthermore, thanks to convenience as well as the efforts of
manufacturers/distributors, consumers started to buy more packaged oil
products rather than produce home-made ones. In addition, butter and olive
oil were more favoured thanks to their better taste and health reasons.
1.1.2. Market trend
The average annual growth rate of edible oil consumption in
Vietnam during the period of 2012-2015 was 6,9% and predicted increase
8,3% between 2015-2020.
In 2015, domestic production of edible oil was estimated at 811.5
thousand tons, only reached 57% of design capacity. The average annual
growth rate of edible oil production in Vietnam was 8.7% during the period
of 2012-2015 and was predicted increase 10.1% per year in the period of
2015-2020. Meanwhile, the average annual growth rate of edible oil
consumption in Vietnam during the period of 2012-2015 was 6.9% and
predicted increase 8.3% between 2015-2020.
According to result of enterprise census 2014, there were 44
production enterprises in the edible oil industry, mainly located in the
South East and Mekong River Delta. However, the edible oil industry in
Internship report at Golden Hope Nha Be Edible Oils company
Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 3
Viet Nam is currently facing with many challenges. Especially, May 6,
2017 the edible oil industry will no longer receive protection from the
State. At that time the domestic edible oil market will be more intense
competition from foreign brands.
The cooking oil market with annual revenue of VND30 trillion, a
high growth rate and low average consumption per capita has become an
attractive market.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the average
consumption level per capita in Vietnam is 9-10 kilos per annum, is lower
than the 13.5 kilo level suggested by World Health Organization (WHO).
However, it is expected that the consumption level would rise to 18.5-19
kilos per capita by 2025.
In 2015, the total cooking oil output was 812,000 tons, while the
consumption was 920,000 tons.
1.1.3. Market segment
The origin and the source, in the market are Vietnamese cooking oil
and imported cooking oil From Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia (The
cooking oil in Vietnamese market is imported from Singapore, Indonesia,
Malaysia,…) . In addition, edible oils also classified based on ingredients
such as soybean oil, sesame oil, peanut oil or palm oil.
Market segment based on purpose of using, including 4 types:
Cooking oil used for frying and frying, salad oil dedicated to vegetable
mix, nutritional oil to supplement essential vitamins and solid oil for
baking. However, the segmentation of edible oils based on the function of
these oils is unclear in Vietnam. Consumers often use the same type of
edible oil for a variety of purposes.
Finally, different groups of customers also contribute to the market
segment. For example, restaurants or eateries buy large bottle of 10 to 30

Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 4
liters, while households typically choose 250ml, 400ml or 1 to 2 liter
bottles.
1.1.4. Competitive markets
Of the more than 30 domestic cooking oil companies, the General
Vegetable Oil Corporation (Vocarimex) is the "tycoon" of the vegetable oil
industry.
Cai Lan is a subsidiary of Wilmar, one of the world's largest
producers of palm oil and cooking oil. In 2012, it’s one of the top ten
brands of cooking oil in the country and have the highest market share.
There are four names of Cai Lan Company: Neptune (20.7%), Simply
(8.9%), Meizan , 8%) and Cai Lan vegetable oil (2.9%).
Not only the top, Cai Lan has steadily grown for many years. Its
market has shared over the past five years and has increased from 32.6%
(2008) to 37.3% (2012) . In 2011, the revenue of Cai Lan is nearly
increasing 2.5 times that of Tuong An.
Tuong An ranked second in terms of market share but Tuong An's
brand ranked first with 22.8% market share while Neptune ranked second
with 20.7%. Golden Hope Nha Be Edible Oils Company (ranked No. 3 in
terms of market share - 10.8%) is under the brand Marvela (8.1%) and
Ong Tao (2.8%); Tan Binh Vegetable Oil Joint Stock Company (ranked
No. 4 - 5.9%) is under the brand Nakydaco.

Picture 1.1. Market share of vegetable oil in country
The edible oil market is fertile market, both domestic and foreign
companies are eager to jump into this area. As recommended by the World
Health Organization, the average consumption of cooking oil is 13.5 kg /
person / year, while in Vietnam it is only 7kg / person , the growth is great.
Besides the Vocarimex-related companies, domestic players also include
Binh An vegetable oil under the Daso Group, Otran oil of Vina
commodities, Oils of Quang Minh Group or Acecook's First. Foreign firms
also take advantage of each opportunity to penetrate. Competitive price
along with import tax of 0% in 2012 makes foreign cooking oil is flooding
the market.
At the supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and many other
cities, imported cooking oil brands are sold quite much, with the retail price
equivalent to cooking oil produced in the country.
According to customs offices in Ho Chi Minh City, the price of
refined soybean oil imported through the border gate in 2012 averaged only
13,000 dong per liter, refined palm oil at 12,700 dong per liter, palm oil
Refined price 17,200 VND / liter ...

Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 6
This price is equivalent, or only 2 to 5% higher than the price of
cooking oil produced in the country.
1.2. Overview of supply and demand of refined oil products
Vietnam has about 35 vegetable oil suppliers in the domestic market,
most of them are the Vietnam Vegetable Oil Corporation (Vocarimaex),
well-known brands such as Tuong An, Marvela, Apple, Neptune, Mezan
and Simply. Refined vegetable oil output increased steadily each year. In
2014, vegetable oil production in Vietnam is about 750 thousand tons, up
7% over the previous year.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam's refined
vegetable oil output in 2016 is estimated at 718 thousand tons, an increase
of 9.2% compared to 2015.
Among them, vegetable oil output of the Vietnam Vegetable Oil
Corporation reached 266 thousand tons, an increase of 7.4% compared to
2015.
During the period 2014 - 2016, refined vegetable oil production grew
at an average annual rate of 8.3%, lower than that of previous periods due
to competitive selling prices, plus import tax 0% the main caused the oil
products from countries in the region such as Malaysia, Singapore,
Indonesia, Thailand flooded the market in Vietnam.
Facing the current situation of vegetable oil imports, seriously
threatening the domestic cooking oil industry, on August 23, the Minister
of Industry and Trade signed a decision on the application of official
safeguard measures for vegetable oil (including soybean oil and refined
palm oil) imported into Vietnam. Accordingly, the tax rate will be applied
in four phases, with the highest rate of 5% applied from May 7th
to May 6th
,
2013 and gradually reduced to 4%, 3%, 2% May, 2017. The decision will
Internship report at Golden Hope Nha Be Edible Oils company
Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 7
come into force on September 7th
and replace the decision on April 22th
to
apply a temporary safeguard measure.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade forecasts that refined vegetable
oil production in 2016 will reach about 774 thousand tons in 2017 by about
850 thousand tons, up 7.8% and 9.8%, respectively.
It is forecasted that domestic refined oil producers will continue to
face difficulties because crude oil raw materials still have to be imported up
to 90% due to fluctuating raw material prices, while prices fluctuate.
Outputs can not increase accordingly due to competitive pressure.
According to the decision approving the development plan of
vegetable oil industry in Vietnam up to 2020, vision to 2025 of the
Ministry of Industry and Trade:
+ In the 2011-2015 period, Vietnam produces 1138 thousand tons of
refined oil.
+ In the 2016-2020 period, Vietnam produces 1587 thousand tons of
refined oil.
+ In the period 2021-2025, Vietnam produces 1929 thousand tons of
refined oil.

3.2. Market segment
The market segment that the Golden Hope Nha Be Edible oil company
targets is 4 segments:
 Healthy:
This is the highest segment in the cooking oil market today. The
edible oil products in this segment are aimed at the health of consumers, so
these products are often more expensive than other segments.
Products are made with 100% ingredients such as soybean oil, peanut oil,
sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, raspberries, ... For example, Marvela 100%
refined soybean oil belongs to this segment.
It is generally recommended that edible oils produced from nuts
should not be used for frying because nutrients may be lost or will be
degraded to the detriment of the consumer. The use of these oils is used to
mix salad, do sauce, fried, cook vegetarian dishes to protect the health of
consumers.
There are competitors like Meizan, Tuong An, etc. The target
audience is the customers who are interested in family health, good
knowledge of cooking oil and have high income.
 Premium:
This is a high-end segment, and edible oil products in this segment
are less expensive than Healthy.
Composition is the highest proportion is Olein. Olein accounts for
70% or more of the remaining 30% depending on the company that other

Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 30
premium ingredients are added to. This also determines the price of the
product. For example, Marvela Gold.E oil is eaten by Golden Hope Nha Be
oil company in addition to high-quality vitamin E, the extra oil helps to
increase the value of the product and increase the nutrition to the
consumers.
 Mainstream:
Edible oil products of this segment are very popular in the market
today mainly because of the lower cost Healthy and Premium are suitable
for the general audience.
The main ingredient is Olein oil, which accounts for more than 90%,
while the remaining 10% depends on the manufacturer, such as soybean
oil, peanut oil, or vitamins ... in small quantities.
For example, Marvela A & D3 edible oil ingredients are added to
vitamin A and vitamin D3 to give the product more nutritional value.
 Low price:
This is the lowest cost segment of the market for edible oil today,
mainly competing for market prices. The products are manufactured with
100% Olein. Depending on the distribution area, the consumption areas
that companies will add to some other components but only in negligible
amounts.
For example, Olein Oil and Edible Oils of Golden Hope Nha Be
Edible Oils are all in the market with the main ingredient Olein. However,
in order to accommodate the distribution of the product to colder climates,
the company added a small amount of soybean oil to prevent oil from
freeze or oil when it was cold.
3.3. Pricing policy.
On the domestic cooking oil market, Simply, Neptune, Tuong An,
Meizan are the three leading brands and the rivals of Marvela because of
Internship report at Golden Hope Nha Be Edible Oils company
Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 31
their good quality and reasonable price so that customer accepted and this
is also a big barrier of Marvela. In addition, Marvela has to share the
market with many other vegetable oil brands such as Happi Koki, Tan Binh
etc. The products of those companies are gradually gaining ground in the
market of cooking oil and Vietnam and their target customers are mostly
low-income people.
The above brands are just Marvela's main competitors in the
domestic market. As Marvela entered the international market, Marvela
have to face a number of well-known oil companies such as Sailing Boat
(Singapore), Cololi (Netherlands), Otogi (Korea), Tsuno (Japan), Gold
Sunflower (Russia), Grisol (Spain), Smart Kid (Chile) etc.
The products of GHNB are very competitive in the market, the
company is always oriented to consumers as a criterion to build sales. Sales
and promotion policies of the company are community and direct to the
user. Therefore, when comparing prices with domestic competitors as well
as imported brands, there are advantages.
Currently, Marvela's price policy is divided into four segments:
Healthy, Premium, Mainstream, Low Price. However, the prices of
competitor's products are also divided according to these segments, but the
prices vary depending on the brand. Below are some of the brands that
have Marvela-related products based on price and market segmentation:
 Healthy: Soybean Meizan < Soybean Marvela < Soybean Simply
 Premium: Marvela Gold.E < Nepture
 Mainstream: Meizan Cooking < Marvela A&D3 ≤ Tuong An
 Low Price: Happi Koki < Ong Tao, S.O < Cai Lan

3.6. The business activities of the company from 2015 to 2017
3.6.1. The business results of the company from 2015 to 2017
 Output
Thanks to its modern refining and refining system, Golden Hope Nha
Be has been supplying more than 100,000 tons of refined vegetable oil
annually, including Bottled oil, oil, industrial oil etc. quality, meeting the
standards of nutrition, hygiene and food safety in accordance with
Vietnamese and international regulations.
Due to the low market demand and the fierce competition of
imported oil products due to the lower tax rate, the consumption output of
the company has a difference over the years. Below is a table showing the
consumption output of Golden Hope Nha Be Company over the years
(ton/year):
Table 3.6. Consumption of the Company over the years (Ton/Year)
According to the table above, most of the company's edible oils have
declined slightly over the years, with Marvela A & D3 rising slightly, from
2015 to 2017: Marvela A & D3 oil rose 10.1%, Marvela oil down 74%,
Marvela Gold E Oil down 50.1%, Ong Tao Oil down 77.6%, S.O down
75.6%. The company's total cooking oil consumption in 2016 reached
24,738 tons/year, down 18.6% from 2015. In 2017, the total output of

edible oil continues to decrease to 16.1% compared to 2016. Pepper
production the decline was due to the recent upsurge in the oil market,
which affected production and cost of companies, including Golden Hope
Nha Be.
 Revenue
Revenue from sales is an important source of finance for the
company to cover the cost of production and business activities that
contribute to the company's business. Below is a chart of revenue situation
over the past 3 years, from 2015 to 2017 (VND):

Table 3.6. Statistics of the company's revenue over the years (VND)
According to statistics, it can be seen that the total sales of Golden
Hope Nha Be Company decreased over the years, especially in 2017. In
2015, oil products with high turnover, continue to 2016, 2017 Marvela
Gold E will increase by 41% in 2016; this is the only increase in revenue
over the past three years. The remaining edible oil products had a fast

decrease in sales volume corresponding to the above consumption. Total
revenue in 2015 is over 990 billion, but by 2016, revenue decreased to
more than 829 billion. Revenues declined sharply to just over VND 599
billion by 2017. Revenue decreased due to the low consumption of edible
oil compared to other brands in the market such as Tuong An, Cai Lan,
Simply etc. In addition, because foreign companies also take advantage of
each opportunity to penetrate, competitive prices and low import tariffs
make foreign cooking oil flood the market.
3.6.2. Performance evaluation
Golden Hope Nha Be Cooking Oil Company is one of the four
largest companies in the vegetable oil field. The company has many
famous brands in the market such as Marvela, Mr. Apples, S.O etc. From
the early years, established sales of the company are very stable. Because
the company has constantly improved its technology, and has many
marketing activities to promote the brand in the long-term. The company
has also developed new products from the Marvela brand such as Marvela
Marvela Oil, Marvela A & D3 Oil, Marvela Gole E Oil. Marvela A & D3
Oil is the most popular consumer product for price and High competitive
quality in the market.
However, in recent years the output and turnover of the company has
been decreasing. There are many reasons for this problem in terms of
consumption, price, quality etc. The key issue in the market today is
competitiveness. In recent years, many companies have entered the market
of cooking oil such as KIDO. Not only domestic companies but also
imported vegetable oil, seriously threatening domestic cooking oil. Too
many types of edible oil products, with very few features and designs,
make the company spend too much marketing and sales to gain market
share.

  • 6. Internship report at Golden Hope Nha Be Edible Oils company Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 1 INTRODUCTION Grease from animals and plants have been used in production as well as in the life of a long time, this is also a major energy supplier. Grease is one of three basic food groups and indispensable importance in the physiological activity of the body as well as in the daily diet of humans. To the present time, oil has become one of the essential items and are frequently used in cooking for a lot of families from urban to rural areas. Understand that, Vietnam has many kind of oils with ingredients, flavors and colors in the market… which are varied and attractive. According to statistics on the country, there are more than 30 enterprises producing vegetable oil. The big brands dominate the domestic oil market include Cai Lan, TAC, Golden Hope ... These are big brands dominated the domestic market as well as export market. Parallel to process used oil, oil processing technology is well developed, from the extraction of oil revenues to help the oil refining techniques have higher quality. And Golden Hope Nha Be company is one of the companies holding a large market, sharing in the field of vegetable oil. With two major oils are palm oil and soybean oil, with strict quality control and tight from receipt of materials to the bottling process. Companies are adopting integrated production process, with modern equipment, ensure the quality, safety and hygiene. Therefore, I have chosen the theme “A survey of business activities of Golden Hope Edible Oils Company” in this practice time.
  • 7. Internship report at Golden Hope Nha Be Edible Oils company Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 2 CONTENTS CHAPTER 1: THEORETICAL BASIS 1.1. Overview of edible oil industry in Vietnam 1.1.1. Daily trend Within oils and fats, vegetable and seed-oil remained the biggest category over the review period. Indeed, many consumers in smaller cities and rural areas started to use vegetable and seed-oil to replace animal fats and home-made vegetable and seed-oil. This trend was fostered by better living standards, better disposable income and better knowledge of the health benefits of vegetable and see- oil compared with animal fats. Furthermore, thanks to convenience as well as the efforts of manufacturers/distributors, consumers started to buy more packaged oil products rather than produce home-made ones. In addition, butter and olive oil were more favoured thanks to their better taste and health reasons. 1.1.2. Market trend The average annual growth rate of edible oil consumption in Vietnam during the period of 2012-2015 was 6,9% and predicted increase 8,3% between 2015-2020. In 2015, domestic production of edible oil was estimated at 811.5 thousand tons, only reached 57% of design capacity. The average annual growth rate of edible oil production in Vietnam was 8.7% during the period of 2012-2015 and was predicted increase 10.1% per year in the period of 2015-2020. Meanwhile, the average annual growth rate of edible oil consumption in Vietnam during the period of 2012-2015 was 6.9% and predicted increase 8.3% between 2015-2020. According to result of enterprise census 2014, there were 44 production enterprises in the edible oil industry, mainly located in the South East and Mekong River Delta. However, the edible oil industry in
  • 8. Internship report at Golden Hope Nha Be Edible Oils company Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 3 Viet Nam is currently facing with many challenges. Especially, May 6, 2017 the edible oil industry will no longer receive protection from the State. At that time the domestic edible oil market will be more intense competition from foreign brands. The cooking oil market with annual revenue of VND30 trillion, a high growth rate and low average consumption per capita has become an attractive market. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the average consumption level per capita in Vietnam is 9-10 kilos per annum, is lower than the 13.5 kilo level suggested by World Health Organization (WHO). However, it is expected that the consumption level would rise to 18.5-19 kilos per capita by 2025. In 2015, the total cooking oil output was 812,000 tons, while the consumption was 920,000 tons. 1.1.3. Market segment The origin and the source, in the market are Vietnamese cooking oil and imported cooking oil From Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia (The cooking oil in Vietnamese market is imported from Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia,…) . In addition, edible oils also classified based on ingredients such as soybean oil, sesame oil, peanut oil or palm oil. Market segment based on purpose of using, including 4 types: Cooking oil used for frying and frying, salad oil dedicated to vegetable mix, nutritional oil to supplement essential vitamins and solid oil for baking. However, the segmentation of edible oils based on the function of these oils is unclear in Vietnam. Consumers often use the same type of edible oil for a variety of purposes. Finally, different groups of customers also contribute to the market segment. For example, restaurants or eateries buy large bottle of 10 to 30
  • 9. Internship report at Golden Hope Nha Be Edible Oils company Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 4 liters, while households typically choose 250ml, 400ml or 1 to 2 liter bottles. 1.1.4. Competitive markets Of the more than 30 domestic cooking oil companies, the General Vegetable Oil Corporation (Vocarimex) is the "tycoon" of the vegetable oil industry. Cai Lan is a subsidiary of Wilmar, one of the world's largest producers of palm oil and cooking oil. In 2012, it’s one of the top ten brands of cooking oil in the country and have the highest market share. There are four names of Cai Lan Company: Neptune (20.7%), Simply (8.9%), Meizan , 8%) and Cai Lan vegetable oil (2.9%). Not only the top, Cai Lan has steadily grown for many years. Its market has shared over the past five years and has increased from 32.6% (2008) to 37.3% (2012) . In 2011, the revenue of Cai Lan is nearly increasing 2.5 times that of Tuong An. Tuong An ranked second in terms of market share but Tuong An's brand ranked first with 22.8% market share while Neptune ranked second with 20.7%. Golden Hope Nha Be Edible Oils Company (ranked No. 3 in terms of market share - 10.8%) is under the brand Marvela (8.1%) and Ong Tao (2.8%); Tan Binh Vegetable Oil Joint Stock Company (ranked No. 4 - 5.9%) is under the brand Nakydaco.
  • 10. Internship report at Golden Hope Nha Be Edible Oils company Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 5 Picture 1.1. Market share of vegetable oil in country The edible oil market is fertile market, both domestic and foreign companies are eager to jump into this area. As recommended by the World Health Organization, the average consumption of cooking oil is 13.5 kg / person / year, while in Vietnam it is only 7kg / person , the growth is great. Besides the Vocarimex-related companies, domestic players also include Binh An vegetable oil under the Daso Group, Otran oil of Vina commodities, Oils of Quang Minh Group or Acecook's First. Foreign firms also take advantage of each opportunity to penetrate. Competitive price along with import tax of 0% in 2012 makes foreign cooking oil is flooding the market. At the supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and many other cities, imported cooking oil brands are sold quite much, with the retail price equivalent to cooking oil produced in the country. According to customs offices in Ho Chi Minh City, the price of refined soybean oil imported through the border gate in 2012 averaged only 13,000 dong per liter, refined palm oil at 12,700 dong per liter, palm oil Refined price 17,200 VND / liter ...
  • 11. Internship report at Golden Hope Nha Be Edible Oils company Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 6 This price is equivalent, or only 2 to 5% higher than the price of cooking oil produced in the country. 1.2. Overview of supply and demand of refined oil products Vietnam has about 35 vegetable oil suppliers in the domestic market, most of them are the Vietnam Vegetable Oil Corporation (Vocarimaex), well-known brands such as Tuong An, Marvela, Apple, Neptune, Mezan and Simply. Refined vegetable oil output increased steadily each year. In 2014, vegetable oil production in Vietnam is about 750 thousand tons, up 7% over the previous year. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam's refined vegetable oil output in 2016 is estimated at 718 thousand tons, an increase of 9.2% compared to 2015. Among them, vegetable oil output of the Vietnam Vegetable Oil Corporation reached 266 thousand tons, an increase of 7.4% compared to 2015. During the period 2014 - 2016, refined vegetable oil production grew at an average annual rate of 8.3%, lower than that of previous periods due to competitive selling prices, plus import tax 0% the main caused the oil products from countries in the region such as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand flooded the market in Vietnam. Facing the current situation of vegetable oil imports, seriously threatening the domestic cooking oil industry, on August 23, the Minister of Industry and Trade signed a decision on the application of official safeguard measures for vegetable oil (including soybean oil and refined palm oil) imported into Vietnam. Accordingly, the tax rate will be applied in four phases, with the highest rate of 5% applied from May 7th to May 6th , 2013 and gradually reduced to 4%, 3%, 2% May, 2017. The decision will
  • 12. Internship report at Golden Hope Nha Be Edible Oils company Instructor: Phan Phi Phong Page 7 come into force on September 7th and replace the decision on April 22th to apply a temporary safeguard measure. The Ministry of Industry and Trade forecasts that refined vegetable oil production in 2016 will reach about 774 thousand tons in 2017 by about 850 thousand tons, up 7.8% and 9.8%, respectively. It is forecasted that domestic refined oil producers will continue to face difficulties because crude oil raw materials still have to be imported up to 90% due to fluctuating raw material prices, while prices fluctuate. Outputs can not increase accordingly due to competitive pressure. According to the decision approving the development plan of vegetable oil industry in Vietnam up to 2020, vision to 2025 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade: + In the 2011-2015 period, Vietnam produces 1138 thousand tons of refined oil. + In the 2016-2020 period, Vietnam produces 1587 thousand tons of refined oil. + In the period 2021-2025, Vietnam produces 1929 thousand tons of refined oil.
