threats. It enables an organization to have a comprehensive insight about the current position
in the industry compared to the competitors. It provides the organization a scope to improve
strategic position in the market by understanding your strength and weaknesses at the same
time by analysing the threat and opportunities created by the environment. Here, the internal
strengths and weakness of APPL as well as the external opportunities and threats are discussed.
1. Strength
Strengths are the internal factors of an organization which can be used to achieve
organization’s goals. It describes what an organization excels at and separates it
from its competitors. For APPL, the following are to be considered as its strengths:
• Paint Industry is one of the highly profitable manufacturing company which
makes APPL more benefitable.
• Experienced staffs of APPL helps to provide good customer service for the
customers.
20. 20
• Large product range of APPL lets its customer stacked to APPL rather than

• Using new technologies on manufacturing helps to develop customers trust
on product for APPL.
2. Weakness
Weakness is internal characteristics that might inhibit or restrict the organization’s
performance. These are the factors that stop an organization from performing at its
optimum level. For APPL, these are its weaknesses:
• Being as a Small Scale of Industry, lack of proper administration and
guidance from upper level management is seen in APPL.
• Sharing a market with MNCs is challenging as being a small scale of
industry to APPL.
• Not using automation system on manufacturing has increased the cost of
products.
• Employee leaving rate in high which leads organizations to expenses on
training and recruitment process of labor.
3. Opportunities
Opportunities are the favorable external factors that an organization can use to give
it a competitive advantage. Such opportunities for APPL are as follows:
• Many more markets are there to be expanded.
• Because of high import tax, it is being easier to take a market of MNCs by
providing same level of quality with lower price.
• Only one paint industry in Far-Western and Mid-Western Development
Region makes APPL to lead the market then other industries.
4. Threats
Threats are such conditions in the general environment that may hinder a company’s
efforts to achieve strategic competitiveness. The potential threats that can be seen in
the general environment are as follows:
• Number of new paint industry are coming in market which is increasing
competition among each other.
• New MNCs are expanding their manufacturing department to Nepal because
of high import tax and other facilities provided by Nepal Government to
MNCs.
21. 21
• Paints are generally sold as per the demand of Painters, so it is hard to keep
painters happy by giving them discounts and other services as provided by
MNCs.

enormous opportunities and new heights to achieve
Intern at Ashirbad Paints experienced a great deal of corporate cultures in friendly
environment. Intern was involved in various departments gather practical experience about the
functioning of those departments and the industry. This internship favoured to get the practical
acquaintance of the industry and its overall operation system. Learning under those
experienced heads made the internee’s work easy and internee could develop and represent as
a member of the industry rather than just an intern.
Intern observed the various activities done at manufacturing that aid in the development of
internee’s interpersonal and communication skills. Placement at various departments made to
be familiarized with overall activities; risk associated with the activities and the matter that
needed a close monitoring in those departments. Intern is aware about the critical aspects of

Furthermore, after the completion of the internship and the internship report, the intern has
been able to understand the Marketing operation to some extent.
5.3 Recommendation
During my internship period in this industry I experienced various positive as well as negative
experiences. It helps me as I could better understand the practical knowledge over my
theoretical knowledge that I gained in Alpine Management College during my BBA program.
Some of the feedback that I would like to give to the industry I worked is:
• I think it must focus on raising more capital to cover up its market all over the country
24. 24
• Employees motivational programs should be implemented to motivate them by
providing financial and non-financial reward
• The limited number of staff s is also the problem in the industry even though they are
handling the task.
• Employees retention is main issue with this organization so that they should not keep
pressure on employees all the time
• It should establish effective mechanism to address increasing competition specially
with MNCs
• Industry should focus not only the special clients, but it must focus deprived clients too.
• Today is the age of modern technology. So, it must be quick in adopting new technology
in comparison to its rivals
• It is desirable to lunch an advertising camping to attract more customers.
• It is advisable to maintain and efficient market intelligence system and advice
management of the changing needs of the market.
• No proper utilization and proper management of the fixed assets in the organization.
• Top level management need to involve and participate lower level employee in the
decision making. So, it reduces the dissatisfaction of employee.
