3. • Harrogate
• This is where the interviews for my FMP took
place. I chose to film in my home town because I
think that the person being interviewed would be
more comfortable being filmed in their own
home.
• Risks
• The risks of filming at home is that it can be really
easily interrupted whether that’s going to be a
phone call that interrupts a shot mid way
through.
Locations
Filming Day Time
25th March 19:00pm
31st March 19:00pm
• The solution to this is that all phones are switched off to avoid any interruptions.
• Building work could occur in neighbouring houses
• The solution to this is, before any filming starts talk to neighbours to let them
know a filming schedule
4. 0Filey
0I filmed my opening title scene and some b-
roll footage here. I chose to film here because
within my production the beach is talked
about a lot so I thought that it would make
sense to include some footage of the beach.
0Risks
0Someone could badly injure themselves by slipping on rocks
0This can be avoided by not filming anywhere dangerous unless absolutely
necessary.
0Another risk is that equipment could get lost or stolen
0To resolve this, keep an eye on all equipment/ have someone with it at all
times. Check that all equipment has been brought back before leaving the
location

6. Interviewee Questions
0 Did you feel comfortable while filming?
0 Well considering I was filming in my own dining room I was pretty comfortable, yes.
0 If we were to re-film would you want to change anything?
0 I suppose so. Possibly more detail in the stories I told.
0 If we were to re film where would you choose to film
0 I would love to have told the stories while on the beach. I think it would be quite a nice idea.
7. Time
0 When it comes to managing time during production, I think I could've
done better. I had to change when I was going to film many times either
due to a technical issue or an issue at where I would be filming. Because I
had to change when I was going to film it affected all the people within
the production, some people had to take time off work to fit the new
dates. When it came to managing time with written work that also
could've been better. A lot of the written work has been pushed to quite
later time in production.
8. Personnel
0 For my production I have quite a small team helping me out.
0 Mel Nuttall:
0 Job role – sound recordist.
0 Wayne Crick:
0 Job role – Driver
0 Margaret Crick:
0 Job role – Interviewee
0 Toni Ann:
0 Job role – Director/camera work
9. Meetings
0 I didn’t need to set up many meetings to discuss my production because
the story I will be telling is a story about my family so I know it very well.
However, I did set up one meeting the day before filming to talk about the
style of interview I wanted to have. I discussed how I wanted the
interviewee to be positioned in the frame. I talked about how its
important to enunciate her words when talking and not talk to fast. The
importance of changing her tone at the correct times. We also discussed
the importance of how not to look at the camera during the interview. I
didn’t want them to look at the camera because I wanted my
documentary to have the feeling that the audience is just watching two
people have a conversation. I also had a meeting with the driver to
discuss what times we wanted to be in certain areas. Another meeting I
had was with another family member to discuss the name of the
documentary. Lastly I had a meeting with the crew. We discussed times,
locations and dates. We also talked about availability/flexibility incase
we couldn’t film on the agreed upon dates.

0 interviewee
0 For my interview short I wan to
have the person being interviewed
to be on the left hand side of the
screen leaving the majority of the
right side blank. I want to used this
blank space during post production
to edit in relevant photos.
0 For the lighting I want to include
natural lighting, because I don't
want to heavily edit the coloring. I
think that I achieved the color I was
aiming for in my film because I
think it came out looking quite
natural which is what I wanted.
13. Mise en Scène
0 For my filming location I wanted it to be a comfortable surrounding for the interviewee. I
originally had planned to film in the living room but it ended up being to difficult to control
the lighting. Because of this, I decided to film in the dining room. This turned out to be the
right decision because it was a lot easier to control the lighting and get the natural look I
wanted. I chose the accent wall of the dining room as a background to have some datil in
shot besides the person. I decided to do this because I was initially shooting on a white
background and I thought it looked too plain.
0 I did want to have the mirror in the shot but this proved quite difficult as it would reflect
the camera equipment. I had to make do with having it in the bottom of the shot because
otherwise I would have other things in shot I didn’t want and I didn’t want to zoom in
anymore than I had to.
0 For coloring I didn’t want to heavily edit the footage, I wanted to have a natural look on
screen. I also don’t plan on using any special effects within my documentary because I
don’t think my documentary style needs it

15. Post Production
0 One of the first things I did in post
production was correct the coloring.
I wanted my documentary to have a
warm look to it. In the original the
color is quite dark and red. I thought
that it didn't fit well with the style of
story I'm telling. I decided to have
the colors a lot more natural toned.

16. Music
0 The opening music to my documentary is Little Moments by Adam Vitovsky I chose this
music for my title sequence because I thought that it worked very well with the video of
the wave because as the wave got closer to the screen the music intensifies.
0 For the start of the main interview November by BenSound I chose this music because I
thought it complimented the tone of voice the interviewee has by not overtaking or
drowning the voice out.
0 For the part of my documentary where it gets quite emotional I used the music Lovers by
Fesliyan Studios. I chose this music because I think this piece reflects the emotions being
portrayed by the interviewee.
0 To finish of my documentary I had a cover of Mumford & Sons Little Lion Man (Piano
Cover) by Reece Williams. I chose this music piece because I think its quite an upbeat song
and I think it reflects the good times that the images on screen will show.
