2. Technical Problems
Potential Problem Effect on Production Control/Mitigation
Equipment If my equipment malfunctions or doesn’t
perform as it should, It would effect production
and my pre-production.
I can test the equipment before filming so I can
fix any issues with it before the shooting day.
Software I am relying on using premiere pro and
photoshop for my trailer/posters and if they go
down then that will stop production.
I have premiere pro and photoshop on multiple
devices so if it goes down on one I have a
backup.
Computer Backing up issue If my laptop fails to backup my work then I will
have to restart my production work.
I will remember to save my work frequently and
keep multiple copies of my footage.
Storage If my camera runs out of storage mid-shoot then
I wont be able to film anything and will have to
stop production until I get some storage freed
up.
If I am out of the house shooting, bring a backup
SD card in case I run out of storage so it doesn’t
stop my filming.
CollegeWi-Fi The college Wi-Fi is not very good so if it goes
down, even for a day, I will lose a day of
production.
I can edit at home or even use my phone hotspot
to getWi-Fi on my laptop if needed.
3. Theoretical Problems
Potential Problem Effect On Production Control/Mitigation
Cast Members No show This will heavily effect production because I
need my cast members to actually go ahead
with the production.
I will organise ahead of time and make sure
everyone involved knows their schedule.
Weather is rainy/windy This will effect production because the
audio will be messed up if its wind and I
wont be able to shoot outside if its rainy.
I will check weather before filming, and
make sure to film on a day with good and
fitting weather conditions.
Rigby is Misbehaving Rigby needs to behave in order for me to
get a good shot of him being “distracted”
by something on a walk, but this might be
hard to do.
Bring lots of treats to film and make sure he
is in a good listening mood.
Injury If there's an injury while filming I need to
help the cast member with injury and replan
shooting days.
Replan shooting days once I have helped
with any injury.
Time Management I need to have good time management
otherwise I wont be able to be organised
enough for my production.
Get organised and use a planner.
4. Experiments plan
• For my experiments I plan to analyse a previous
trailer I have made for aTV show.
• I also plan on making a poster that is simply a
close up of someone's face but use all the artistic
qualities I have researched, like colours and
creative editing
• I am also going to film some simple shots of day
to day life and try and edit using colour correction
tools and colour changing tools to see how much
colour changing I can do in the production editing
side of things rather than using actual physical
lights.
• I am going to do some lighting experiments
where I try use all the resources I have to create
coloured lighting in film.
5. Lighting Experiment
I did some experiments with lighting for my problem solving. For my film I wanted to have lots of colours to make it
more visually interesting. I wanted to see how much I could naturally get, without nay editing in preproduction. I used
a blue light and a salt lamp for red. I put the red salt Lmp below and the blue light was above to create some sort of
red shadows. For photos this worked perfectly, as seen in the photo above. This is the exact effect I want in my video.
However, taking a photo in this sort of dark lighting meant it had time to process and the colours came out
beautifully. Recording in this lighting was a different story. I couldn’t get the lighting to work in whilst recording and it
just kept coming up as black. I wasn’t sure why this was happening but after some research I found out that photos
have time to process but video is just as it is.To resolve this I had to film in some lighter conditions and then I will edit
the colour in after words. It wont be as authentic as I wanted it to be but it will have to do.
6. Lighting Experiment 2
This was the second lighting experiment I did. I took a photo on a blank wall with good, clear lighting. With this
photo I wanted to make a red and blue lighting effect all through photoshop. I wasn’t sure how to do this so I
followed aYouTube tutorial and I managed to create a sort of gradient look with red and blue. I don’t think it
looks like daylight, it looks more like night time. I think I can use this effect in posters I make or any sort of
promotional photos for my trailer. Or even a film cover.
7. Trailer Experiment
These are some trailers I have made experimenting with music, audio and adding subtitles. I have found that to have
good quality audio you will need to use a external mic because camera microphones are not the best quality. I also
created the logo myself. These trailers were for aTV show so were only 30 seconds but it was still hard to fill them with
footage. From this I have learned to get lots of footage to fill the trailer and have it planned out the full way through. This
was it wont be cut short in any capacity.
