Style sheet 1 : Colour scheme
Colour scheme 1
The first colour that I chose for this colour scheme is black, this is an important
colour for my work because it dennotates darkness and connotates the tone of
the movie if I was to have this from the beginning it would set a dark disturbing
tone to the project. The next colour that I chose in my colour scheme is one that I
would count as the most important for this work, I chose grey because its
mysterious and bland, normally in a movie this is not appealed but in the case of a
horror/ thriller movie it can be very valuable colour to have in the scheme, I feel it
connotates mystery, shows the deeper meaning to the work, grey shows how dark
and light something can be at the same time which is important when I want to
create my horror film to use these colours. The next colour that I chose was red
but I light beige colour, this is for some lighter but still dark tone in horror films, if
this colour is added right it can contrast a really nice affect. The next colour was
green I want this to symbolise really miniscule colours within the film in the
background simply to add something extra so it isn’t dark and gloomy throughout.
I then chose the colour purple a personal favourite, it adds something extra to the
scene I feel it represents safety but at a cost (connotates) which is something I
want to feature as a small part of colour in each scene it also adds more to the
short film so its not all dim and gloomy I would add this colour mainly around the
bottom of the screen. The next colour that I chose was blue a light blue this would
be the main characters clothing colour symbolising heroism I feel this connotation
is important as it shows understanding in how colours reflect different things in
short films and it will brighten up a darkened tone to the film, I feel it can contrast
well. The next colour that I had chosen was dark orange I like this concept of a
colour that is light and dark but it also the colour of amber/ waiting for something
I will add this in the corner. Of the screen in different scenes from the short film.
The next colour is a violet pinkish colour this is to brighten the tone but also
symbolise the main characters skin tone. I then chose the colour blue but a dark
blue version of the colour, this is to symbolise and connotates a darker version of
safety on the character. The final colour that I chose as part of the colour scheme
for the short film was dark red a more matte style of the colour, I would add this in
the background at different points mainly around the lighting to create a glare
affect.
This colour scheme is taken from the shining movies bar scene, the reason that I chose this scenes colours is because in my film I want it to be set in a house that has a dim feel to it like this scene with the
same colours representing a normal house but with a spooky/ thrilling and mysterious aspect to it. I think that all these colours help set the mood and tone of the scene, the entire film uses this colour
scheme for the majority of the hotel except the kitchen, it is used to create terrifying scenes in hallways and bars. The first colour on this is plain black this is used to show darkness in the movie it creates a
shadow affect around the rim of the camera view. This is followed by a dark brown colour which follows up from the black colour scheme creating a shadow affect. This is an affect that I would like to add
around my work. The next image I chose was brown and red these two colours are there but different in how light they are, the reason that these are there is that they are the colour of the walls and carpet
both mix throughout in contrast and I feel that these are good affects as it sets a dark tone to the building seeming like a gloomy place, the next two colours that I have chosen are two different versions of
brown, these shades set the tone of lighting around the rim of the lens and also around the lights showing gloominess lurking over the light parts of the screen setting a disturbing tone. The next image was
also brown in shining this tone was the antagonists collar colour. The next colour was light brown bringing light into the frame and the next two colours after that where light brown and purple, dark and
light colours that are introduced to show clothing items and texture to the main character showing him void like and casual, shaping him as an average person.
The colours in this film are extremely well thought out bringing every scene to life, it is
done to an amazing standard. This film uses dark tones with light contrasts even though
everything that happens in the movie is dark the colours bring it to life adding a realistic
vibe to something that could never happen, it uses bright realistic colour, instead of
changing the colours to make a non realistic scene such as weather just so happening to be
rainy in a dull moment, the dark knight simply follows everything through in a realistic way,
this brings realism to the steaks and threats of the film. The colours used are range that go
from bright green grass to the dark green hair on the jokers head. These are important as
they show how two different versions of a colour can be presented on screen. The joker is
also wearing white which is a dark twist on symbolism as he is wearing a colour of safety
and peace while blowing up a hospital.

Introduction
The reason that I will be needing to look at fonts is because of what I will
need it for in my different products, for a start I will need font for the DVD
cover for the multiple different parts of that for example synopsis and title,
I will need fonts for the poster for the Title and other information about the
movie that I would be creating. I will also need font when designing my
short film I will need to add in an opening title which will also need a stand
out font.
These fonts
The first font I have chosen is a bold and readable font that I intend to use
for the DVD covers casting list I feel it is important to use this for this as it
stands out as bold but yet is easy to understand when in small size where
as other bold fonts go blurry when they are miniaturised. The next font
that I chose to use was a small open bold, this is small and bold but a skinny
style of bold, I feel I could also use this for the casting on the DVD cover but
I feel it is much more likely that I will end up using this font as the synopsis
on the back of the DVD cover instead I feel it is just the right size to fit and
bold enough to stand out. The next font I chose is similar to the first font
that I chose but it has differences in size of circumference around the
letters. The next font is one I feel I can use as part of the title for the film in
both poster, DVD cover and short film, it has a creepy and horror tone to it
and sets up a dark mood that I feel I can use. The next font is one I feel
could work for the Company logos as they are smart and I feel this font
suits it well. The next font is definitely a horror style of font that I can use in
my poster. The 8th font is a stretched font that I feel has a strong touch to a
thriller/ horror style of film that I believe I can most defiantly use. The 9th
font that I used is small bulky font that I would write the “in association
with” on the DVD cover and poster, I feel this could work tremendously
well with the style as it would fit with the game look overall. The 10th font is
not one I feel I will use it seems to bland and spaced out more of a sci fi
mood/ style. The 11th font is a bold font that I will use for headlines across
the DVD cover as it works for a style well I feel. The 12th font that I have
chosen is a comical style of font I think it could fit into my DVD cover on the
headings but I don’t see a place for this in my company logos or in my
poster and short film.
These fonts are from the website www.Dafont.com the reason I used this website is because I feel that the fonts on ere give me a
wide variety as well as the ability to type in preview text as to what I want. The first font that I have chosen is a dark horror style
of font I feel that it befits the work well and sets up different ways I could create the title. The second font that I had chosen for
this work was a bold and short styled type that I feel adds a creepy tone to the work but I would not personally choose this as the
title font for the short film as I am wanting something that is specific to the work and how it is styled, I want a stand out font and
both of these although possibility's for the title I do not feel they fit together in the best way that they could. Both of these fonts
could work as casting list on both the DVD covers and the title.
Fonts on the DVD cover
This cover has different parts to it with different fonts that I feel I can use in my work as part
of my DVD cover and if I was not to use them I will need to use ones that are similar to make
sure I follow a basis template structure to the work. The front page of the DVD cover has an
title font that is bold and dark but neat at the same time but the ‘y’ on this page flows far
down to but a split between horror. ‘Horror’ this is in a smaller font size then the main title
but they contrast well together. The same title from the front of the DVD cover goes down
the guideline on the backside of the box. The back of the DVD cover has a large range of
different fonts across it. The top has a small type of font that gives out the synopsis of the
movie trying to sell the film the best it can, the font gave the ability to explain the film in
large amounts of detail because of the small font. There is a different type of font that is
included where it explains the ‘special features’ this is a small version of the already small
synopsis font. There is then a with associations page and in this it has a different font then
the others have and I think that this is an important part of the work. There is then different
fonts for the company's it was made by and a list of cast which is small but used to sell the
movie.
Style sheet 3 : Image styles
The top of this image at the left side is blue and black this gives a dark
toned type to the image, also this style sets a dark tone for the movie
making it clear that this is a dark moment in the film because of this visual
imagery. The main character of this image (Thanos) is blended in with the
blue/ purple background this image style represents how it is his home and
his surroundings, this with an image not revealing much reveals a lot. In
this image it also shows the character wearing a golden helmet with gold
armour and gauntlet, but the helmet is more of a crown this shows that he
is more of a king but also a warrior, he is holding up the gauntlet above
himself this shows that he treats the gauntlet as something more powerful
then himself and holds it above himself show this. The gauntlet has five
stones that are in it and In the lore they are different stones called infinity
stones each has a different power and with all of the stones he has the
capability to wipe out the entire universe and Thanos goal as a character is
to wipe out half of the universe so that he can restore order to the universe
and make sure t doesn’t overpopulate.
This image is taken from the dark knight and is set up as a complex poster to represent the threat that the over is to batman by adding a smile over his face and built up the face and screen with a majority
of playing cards covering the screen and this sets up an interesting structure. He has a drawn on joker smile which is the opposite to the face that batman would normal pull. This is a clever image style
because they use the opposites on the poster this actually contrasts really well and it shows the relationship between batman and the joker just from the start of the poster, the bat symbol at he bottom
where the title is has been shaped with laughing ‘Ha Ha’ repeatedly in order to shape the bat sign this is great for an image style because it brings in the main elements of the joker which is his laughter and
use it to create the main part of batman, which is his symbol of hope, this contrasts amazingly as it links two mortal enemies together and I feel this works amazingly well. The dark knight is in a white bold
font which represents peace which is something that doesn’t happen in this movie so it is more ironic like the bat symbol, I think that this is more of the goal of this poster the image style is all based
around irony and this contrasts extremely well. This poster also has joker quotes from the movie written I white all around the page but it is all around in creepy text.
• Range of fonts are used
• The fonts are not on a 2 dimensional
planes they would be in print here they
are used to show three dimensional
depth they are also used to show folds in
clothing and costume. The fonts are also
treated with shadow and light and the
message is obscured, not everything on
the page is readable and this is drawing
the viewer in but still hiding the full
meaning.
• The fonts are not used horizontally they
flow with the contours of the character
In this image a range of fonts are used in this
image in order to create a range of different
affects to the poster. Normally in a print product
the fonts are two dimensional nut in this image
a range of fonts are used to express more depth
and to show that the film is three dimensional
this is clever because it represent how the film is
not two dimensional. Posters for other films
that are released for example the avengers
poster or a horror film poster like insidious they
are extremely two dimensional only showing an
image with not much complexion, but the way
that this poster is designed to create imagery of
a more complex plot symbolising the depth and
complex story of the dark knight. The poster
shows the fonts with light and darkness,
showing that the connotations of this
symbolises how the message of the poster is
obscured.
Style sheet analysis
Style sheet 1
The purpose of me looking at a colour scheme was so that I could set up a colour template/ board that I could use when creating my final piece of work, when going through it I only chose
colours that I felt could help me with denotation and connotation as well as looking nice, I tried to make it so the colour schemes when I choose what to use I wanted to be able to look back at
what I had created and use it to help me design the work and make it stand out. I chose 3 different colour schemes each containing a wide range of colours, the first colour scheme I designed
my self going for colours that I felt could fit my work well and help create an eye catching design of context I explained the different techniques that I would be able to follow and replicate in
my work from following this colour scheme. The second colour scheme is a pre designed colour scheme containing colours that are usually seen in horror posters like the shining's poster and
also the Amityville horror poster. This colour scheme is one that I feel can help give me a gore filled affect on the poster and is why I chose it for the colour scheme as a whole. The final piece
of colour scheme that I chose to use is from the dark knight where the joker is walking out of the hospital dressed as a nurse the reason that I chose the colour scheme from this scene is
because of the contrast that is shown in this scene.
Style sheet 2
the second style sheet was all about fonts, the main reason that I needed to do fonts is because a lot of my work such as poster and DVD cover is mainly focused around fonts and these fonts
help express different a styles, moods, tones and ideas from what I was looking at I found a wide range of fonts that I could possibly use in my work and project and that I believe would fit well
overall with the Poster and DVD cover also company logos and assist in setting up a art style that can help dennotates and connotates different parts of the work. The first section of fonts that I
looked into where ones that are from the Microsoft word sections there was a lot of different options for fonts on Microsoft word so I chose fonts that had a creepy and eerie feeling to them
and then analysed them. In the next section I chose fonts from a DVD cover that DVD cover being the Amityville horror and I looked at how another horror movie uses the fonts and how they
are visible and what meaning they had to the movie in doing this I could see how I would use similar types of fonts in my works. The next fonts that I had chosen to look at was from the website
dafont.com where they provide you with lots of different detailed fonts to choose from and download. I reviewed this because I felt that getting different fonts from different places gives me
back up options of fonts in case I cant use a certain one and backup places to get the fonts.
Style sheet 3
The 3rd style sheet that I made is focused around image styles and I think that this is the best way to appeal to the audience is by looking at big blockbuster films and from this seeing how big
films set out there image styles attempt to do the same thing in order to appeal to the audience that these film appeal to I could use there image styles. The first image I looked at was from
avengers infinity war and the reason that I chose the image is because its fascinating as to how the main villain is filled with colour instead of darkness almost like the joker but not as sinister,
but I looked at the style of image and gained different ideas from you. The other image I chose was a dark knight poster because of the effort and detail put into this poster it has a perfect style
to the image and looking into it I felt it really helped in seeing how one thing can make lots of different things.
Overall
I think that overall the different fonts, colours and schemes that I have found, I believe all of these different aspects that I looked into have helped me build a plan and structure that I can use in
my work later when I am creating the poster and DVD cover I will be able to look at all of these different details and fitting the styles into the work in how it will help shape it out.
Mise en scene
• My production – to start with for my production I will need to make a shot list as part of my mise en scene to prepare for the film, the shot list will go in detail looking into how I will film
different shots for different scenes, I will aim for the shots to be 1 to 2 seconds to start with for a panning shot (I will bracket each shot with a couple of seconds of pre roll and post roll
for editing purposes, and of course the story and actors will drive the shot length.) however and I will go over every shot that I intend to use in the short film and explain how I intend to
use the shots to shape out the short film, then I will plan how long the short film will be based off the amount of shots that are in it and from this planning I can determine the amount of
shots I have to cut my films down into so that I can make the most sense out of the plot and story in the shortest amount of time, the maximum length of time that my short film can be is
5 minutes therefore, I will have to boil my work down to this time and the shot list will have to tell the story with each shot and the time must add up to 5 minutes by the end of the short
film. I will also make a story board for the movie and this story board will be made by hand and it will depict the overall look of the film, it would take to long to go through scene by scene
and so I feel that creating a basic story board where I show the characters and how they stand out on the set of the film using images. The story board will only go over the main scenes
from the film and help demonstrate the set up to the movie. I will then explain the story boards and analyse them to make sure that I have an understanding of each of the scenes. I will
also need to fill out a health ad safety sheet and the reason behind this is because I will need look into all different possibility's of how things can go wrong and how they can be fixed
from this point of going wrong, the idea of health and safety is to look at what can harm you and how you would combat it. I then looked at problems and what could go wrong when
making my production, I will look into the solutions to this issue.
Layout 1 : PosterThe first layout that I have chosen is to create one that fits in to the poster
that I intend to create for my end work. To start off my analysis of this layout
I shall start with the company logos. The idea behind the first logo is that it is
going to sit in the bottom left as the main company logo (the company that
owns the rights) I will be making my own version of this the reason for this is
because I feel that the look of the main company being t the bottom left of
the screen then in the middle and on the right of the screen are helping
hand companies all of these company logos are black with white and grey
outlining the logo and I think that this adds a interesting colour scheme
which is dark and set up to be, it will help connotate the the hidden depth to
the short film if I where to use this dark scheme for example the white and
grey represents a gritty hope in darkness and this colour scheme is creatively
great because it means that there is meaning in something as little as the
company logo and that’s what I want my poster to be all about hidden depth
in colour schemes and fonts. The fonts of each company logo is bold and
embedded this resembles each company to be bold and so when designing
my logos I would include a similar font in each of the designs that I create for
my work. I place the company logos on this poster at the bottom because
when I design my company logos to add into the trailer I don’t just want
them in the trailer I also want them on the poster and DVD cover and the
reason for this is because of how it will set up a stronger link between all of
my products. I then added in a review feature, this is to add something extra
to the poster, big budget films do not normally a rating underneath on the
poster that’s more on the DVD cover but low budget movies like to add in
and include a review star sign if the films good but not got that much
attention this can help boos the attention that it receives so I feel that
adding this in as feature is a good way to represent how this is an attempt of
a low budget production rather then a high budget production. I place it
above the logos near the bottom of the page because form research I could
see that this is where it would usually be placed. I added in the main
character to the middle of the page because here he stands out, I chose an
image of Shaun Bean from silent hill there was no particular reason for doing
this. He is big on the screen and the reason for his is to show how he is the
biggest part of the movie and he stands out the most I feel that this
connotation Is important because t shows the audience who they are going
to be watching for the majority of the movie. The background is a forest
although my actual project is going to be set in a house the reason that I
chose to set my layout image as a forest is to help demonstrate how scenery
will affect where the character is placed and how he looks, for example he is
looking lost on the image and behind him is a forest this shows that he is lost
in a forest. The image behind the main character is a dark character, this
person is covered and shrouded in darkness and is lurking behind the main
character this helps show how I'm going to use the colour schemes and
lighting to represent on the layout how the main villain is lurking in around
in background and how they are a villain because of the colour of darkness
around them. At the top of the page I added in a main title in a bright font,
the movie name doesn't’t matter I chose it because of the font (yes I am
aware that the movie is a comedy), the font is still bold and glimmering light
which shows there's light in a dark movie. The last part is underneath that
and Is an essential part and that’s the top casting.
Layout 2 : DVD Cover
This is the DVD cover layout I had a solid plan here in how I set it up, the way that I set this DVD cover up was by going over my research and understanding how they include different things in the DVD
cover and I think that adding in these different aspects of the work befits the overall look of the work. To start with the background to this layout is a forest that has a wide view from the shot and I feel
that this helps represent the depth o the movie if I was to include an image like this the depth of the trees helps portray this in the DVD cover. In the top left of the screen there is the essential synopsis
this is placed in the top left because that was the most common place that I found it in while researching different similar existing products and so I placed a synopsis in that spot, the synopsis that I chose
is red and black this colour scheme helps show that there is darkness and gore in the movie. I added an image in next to it the idea behind this is that on a DVD Cover they show an image of something
cool on the screen this helps show visuals of the movie to the audience and prepare them for different scenes that would be in it. I then added on the back page a review like was on the poster as my
research showed me that reviews should be there. The bottom of the back page has is the explanation of what the film would run on for example DVD basically something a DVD cover template should
have. Above that is the top bill of casting another feature that was on the DVD covers that I researched and so I added it in as another part of the template. Down the middle I included the film title again
same one from the poster template, it stands out on a shelf because of the blue colour and contrast scheme. Also down the middle is a age rating which is 18 years of age by BBFC and this means that the
age rating is clear and visible to anyone picking up the box and to ensure that this is clear so the audience knows they age they would need to be. I added in 2 age ratings to make sure that the BBFC
classification is clear to people. The rest of the front page of this DVD cover is pretty much the same as the poster it was added in to resemble the poster layout and link to it.

Resources
Equipment/ Props/
Costume needed
Locations needed
I will be using a 600d camera so that I can film my project, I am going to need this in order to film
a multitude of different shots. And with this camera I will be able to film my short film, all scenes
based off the shot list.
I am going to be filming shots in different locations with the camera, to start with I will film some
shots in my own home. Then I will be filming in a forest area, I will also be filming in an
abandoned house that I will find and it will be filmed at night.
I will also be needing a computer with all of the necessary programs so that I will be able to edit
my work and create the short film, for this I will need the software of adobe premiere to be able
to edit all of my work together.
The location if this computer will be in two different places and these places will be college
classrooms which will switch rooms between classes and timetable. And the second parts is at
home if I am able to get the software.
Costume and props, I will be needing people to wear casual clothes but I will need someone in a
dark robe the reason for this is because I think that it is important that there is some sort of
costume.
The location for these will be used in the same place as the first part which is where the short
film will be filmed and it will be stored at my house.
I will need clocks for a props and also a broom stick, a flash light and a bat all of these things are
useful because they will be key parts to the short film when I film the different shots these will be
used throughout as part of my plan.
The location of this will be the same as the above one because they will be used in filming and
they will be stored at my house.
I will need the software's of Photoshop that I can use to create the posters and company logos as
well as DVD cover. This is important as it will link all of my work.
This will all be done in York college as that is the only location that I will be able to get photoshop
from is York college and so I will be completing these tasks at home
I will be needing a spare battery for the camera as well as a normal battery for the camera the
reason for this is because I will need the battery to use the camera and a spare one in case my
main one runs out.
This will be used at all the filming locations that I have and the reason
I will be needing an audio device so that I can record the audio for lots of different scenes, and
also sound affects
This will be done at the locations that I will be filming at with the camera and in college for the
other audio elements.
Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
my save files could corrupt and this would loose all my work which would be a potential issue it
could happen as I move computers with different room changes throughout the day if this was
to affect my save files it could cause big issues with my production on all levels of the product
that I am making.
I will have to create back up save files in different places and the reason for this is because if I
end up loosing my work then I will have a back up in case of this.
the cameras battery could die while I'm using it which would mean I would be unable to film
the rest of my project, this would not be great and is a potential issue as I don’t know what the
battery life is when I'm given it, also I may be along time filming and over multiple days this
could mean I loose all of the charge on one of the days meaning I cant finish the filming.
I will bring a spare battery in case the first battery ends up going dead this means that I am able
to keep the filming my solo movie even if it ends up going dead like this.
the cast and crew might not show up on the day that I need them or any days that I need them
for filming which could mean I have to make alterations to the script and how the movie plays
out in the end.
I should have a back up plan and this would initial back up contacts in this case I will call in
someone different to take the place of the main character.
the system could all crash when I am editing all of my work together, if I was to be working on
poster or DVD cover or even editing and the computer was to crash without me saving the work
then I would loose everything that I had worked on.
I will need to save the work every 2 minutes to make sure that I do not have the files lost or
corrupted this is a good solution to a potential issue.
when iv filmed the work the Sd card could corrupt loosing all of the footage when it comes to
pulling it up onto my computer this would cause me to loose all of the filming that I will have
done and this would ruin my work.
I would have to make sure that the work is saving onto the sd card at all times and with this I
can be able to correct the work.
I could loose the back up files I create in case I loose the main files which would lead to all of
my work being lost.
make multiple back ups to make sure that this doesn’t happen.
Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
I could spill water over the computer or other electronics and this act could cause me to get
electrocuted or the computer to be damaged.
I will keep water or any liquid in general away from electronics.
I could trip on wires while filming or working on a laptop for example I could trip over wires
that is charging a piece of a equipment.
I will avoid this by covering up the wires I have out or putting them in a safe space and also by
watching where I step to make sure that I dot trip over them.
you could fall back on your chair and hurt yourself this could be painful and not great for the
future.
by not swinging back on the chair so that you wont fall off the chair and hurt yourself.
I could hurt my back if I am not sat at my computer properly being sat on the chair wrong could
cause back pain.
make sure that I'm sat at the computer the right way at all times and from this I will be able
make sure I do not suffer from back pain.
the camera could break and the glass from the lenses could cause damage to myself or others
which would not be ideal.
I will take care and make sure that I don’t break the camera and ensure that it doesn’t shatter.
the cast could get hurt on the set of the short film by falling over or damaging something. make sure that the set is safe and secure so accidents cant happen here.

Pre-Production Style Sheets

  • 2. DELETE THIS SLIDE • This document is set up for the for general visual based still image production. • This document is not exhaustive and you can add new elements and remove elements that may not be appropriate for your chosen product type. For example: – Moving image- you do not need to do layout plans but you will need to conduct storyboard and add them to this document • Only slides with titles in BLUE can be deleted. Everything else is necessary for the unit.
  • 3. Style sheet 1 : Colour scheme Colour scheme 1 The first colour that I chose for this colour scheme is black, this is an important colour for my work because it dennotates darkness and connotates the tone of the movie if I was to have this from the beginning it would set a dark disturbing tone to the project. The next colour that I chose in my colour scheme is one that I would count as the most important for this work, I chose grey because its mysterious and bland, normally in a movie this is not appealed but in the case of a horror/ thriller movie it can be very valuable colour to have in the scheme, I feel it connotates mystery, shows the deeper meaning to the work, grey shows how dark and light something can be at the same time which is important when I want to create my horror film to use these colours. The next colour that I chose was red but I light beige colour, this is for some lighter but still dark tone in horror films, if this colour is added right it can contrast a really nice affect. The next colour was green I want this to symbolise really miniscule colours within the film in the background simply to add something extra so it isn’t dark and gloomy throughout. I then chose the colour purple a personal favourite, it adds something extra to the scene I feel it represents safety but at a cost (connotates) which is something I want to feature as a small part of colour in each scene it also adds more to the short film so its not all dim and gloomy I would add this colour mainly around the bottom of the screen. The next colour that I chose was blue a light blue this would be the main characters clothing colour symbolising heroism I feel this connotation is important as it shows understanding in how colours reflect different things in short films and it will brighten up a darkened tone to the film, I feel it can contrast well. The next colour that I had chosen was dark orange I like this concept of a colour that is light and dark but it also the colour of amber/ waiting for something I will add this in the corner. Of the screen in different scenes from the short film. The next colour is a violet pinkish colour this is to brighten the tone but also symbolise the main characters skin tone. I then chose the colour blue but a dark blue version of the colour, this is to symbolise and connotates a darker version of safety on the character. The final colour that I chose as part of the colour scheme for the short film was dark red a more matte style of the colour, I would add this in the background at different points mainly around the lighting to create a glare affect. This colour scheme is taken from the shining movies bar scene, the reason that I chose this scenes colours is because in my film I want it to be set in a house that has a dim feel to it like this scene with the same colours representing a normal house but with a spooky/ thrilling and mysterious aspect to it. I think that all these colours help set the mood and tone of the scene, the entire film uses this colour scheme for the majority of the hotel except the kitchen, it is used to create terrifying scenes in hallways and bars. The first colour on this is plain black this is used to show darkness in the movie it creates a shadow affect around the rim of the camera view. This is followed by a dark brown colour which follows up from the black colour scheme creating a shadow affect. This is an affect that I would like to add around my work. The next image I chose was brown and red these two colours are there but different in how light they are, the reason that these are there is that they are the colour of the walls and carpet both mix throughout in contrast and I feel that these are good affects as it sets a dark tone to the building seeming like a gloomy place, the next two colours that I have chosen are two different versions of brown, these shades set the tone of lighting around the rim of the lens and also around the lights showing gloominess lurking over the light parts of the screen setting a disturbing tone. The next image was also brown in shining this tone was the antagonists collar colour. The next colour was light brown bringing light into the frame and the next two colours after that where light brown and purple, dark and light colours that are introduced to show clothing items and texture to the main character showing him void like and casual, shaping him as an average person. The colours in this film are extremely well thought out bringing every scene to life, it is done to an amazing standard. This film uses dark tones with light contrasts even though everything that happens in the movie is dark the colours bring it to life adding a realistic vibe to something that could never happen, it uses bright realistic colour, instead of changing the colours to make a non realistic scene such as weather just so happening to be rainy in a dull moment, the dark knight simply follows everything through in a realistic way, this brings realism to the steaks and threats of the film. The colours used are range that go from bright green grass to the dark green hair on the jokers head. These are important as they show how two different versions of a colour can be presented on screen. The joker is also wearing white which is a dark twist on symbolism as he is wearing a colour of safety and peace while blowing up a hospital.
  • 4. Style sheet 2 : Fonts Short Film Short Film Short Film Short Film Short Film Short Film Short Film Short Film Short Film Short Film Short Film Short Film Introduction The reason that I will be needing to look at fonts is because of what I will need it for in my different products, for a start I will need font for the DVD cover for the multiple different parts of that for example synopsis and title, I will need fonts for the poster for the Title and other information about the movie that I would be creating. I will also need font when designing my short film I will need to add in an opening title which will also need a stand out font. These fonts The first font I have chosen is a bold and readable font that I intend to use for the DVD covers casting list I feel it is important to use this for this as it stands out as bold but yet is easy to understand when in small size where as other bold fonts go blurry when they are miniaturised. The next font that I chose to use was a small open bold, this is small and bold but a skinny style of bold, I feel I could also use this for the casting on the DVD cover but I feel it is much more likely that I will end up using this font as the synopsis on the back of the DVD cover instead I feel it is just the right size to fit and bold enough to stand out. The next font I chose is similar to the first font that I chose but it has differences in size of circumference around the letters. The next font is one I feel I can use as part of the title for the film in both poster, DVD cover and short film, it has a creepy and horror tone to it and sets up a dark mood that I feel I can use. The next font is one I feel could work for the Company logos as they are smart and I feel this font suits it well. The next font is definitely a horror style of font that I can use in my poster. The 8th font is a stretched font that I feel has a strong touch to a thriller/ horror style of film that I believe I can most defiantly use. The 9th font that I used is small bulky font that I would write the “in association with” on the DVD cover and poster, I feel this could work tremendously well with the style as it would fit with the game look overall. The 10th font is not one I feel I will use it seems to bland and spaced out more of a sci fi mood/ style. The 11th font is a bold font that I will use for headlines across the DVD cover as it works for a style well I feel. The 12th font that I have chosen is a comical style of font I think it could fit into my DVD cover on the headings but I don’t see a place for this in my company logos or in my poster and short film. These fonts are from the website www.Dafont.com the reason I used this website is because I feel that the fonts on ere give me a wide variety as well as the ability to type in preview text as to what I want. The first font that I have chosen is a dark horror style of font I feel that it befits the work well and sets up different ways I could create the title. The second font that I had chosen for this work was a bold and short styled type that I feel adds a creepy tone to the work but I would not personally choose this as the title font for the short film as I am wanting something that is specific to the work and how it is styled, I want a stand out font and both of these although possibility's for the title I do not feel they fit together in the best way that they could. Both of these fonts could work as casting list on both the DVD covers and the title. Fonts on the DVD cover This cover has different parts to it with different fonts that I feel I can use in my work as part of my DVD cover and if I was not to use them I will need to use ones that are similar to make sure I follow a basis template structure to the work. The front page of the DVD cover has an title font that is bold and dark but neat at the same time but the ‘y’ on this page flows far down to but a split between horror. ‘Horror’ this is in a smaller font size then the main title but they contrast well together. The same title from the front of the DVD cover goes down the guideline on the backside of the box. The back of the DVD cover has a large range of different fonts across it. The top has a small type of font that gives out the synopsis of the movie trying to sell the film the best it can, the font gave the ability to explain the film in large amounts of detail because of the small font. There is a different type of font that is included where it explains the ‘special features’ this is a small version of the already small synopsis font. There is then a with associations page and in this it has a different font then the others have and I think that this is an important part of the work. There is then different fonts for the company's it was made by and a list of cast which is small but used to sell the movie.
  • 5. Style sheet 3 : Image styles The top of this image at the left side is blue and black this gives a dark toned type to the image, also this style sets a dark tone for the movie making it clear that this is a dark moment in the film because of this visual imagery. The main character of this image (Thanos) is blended in with the blue/ purple background this image style represents how it is his home and his surroundings, this with an image not revealing much reveals a lot. In this image it also shows the character wearing a golden helmet with gold armour and gauntlet, but the helmet is more of a crown this shows that he is more of a king but also a warrior, he is holding up the gauntlet above himself this shows that he treats the gauntlet as something more powerful then himself and holds it above himself show this. The gauntlet has five stones that are in it and In the lore they are different stones called infinity stones each has a different power and with all of the stones he has the capability to wipe out the entire universe and Thanos goal as a character is to wipe out half of the universe so that he can restore order to the universe and make sure t doesn’t overpopulate. This image is taken from the dark knight and is set up as a complex poster to represent the threat that the over is to batman by adding a smile over his face and built up the face and screen with a majority of playing cards covering the screen and this sets up an interesting structure. He has a drawn on joker smile which is the opposite to the face that batman would normal pull. This is a clever image style because they use the opposites on the poster this actually contrasts really well and it shows the relationship between batman and the joker just from the start of the poster, the bat symbol at he bottom where the title is has been shaped with laughing ‘Ha Ha’ repeatedly in order to shape the bat sign this is great for an image style because it brings in the main elements of the joker which is his laughter and use it to create the main part of batman, which is his symbol of hope, this contrasts amazingly as it links two mortal enemies together and I feel this works amazingly well. The dark knight is in a white bold font which represents peace which is something that doesn’t happen in this movie so it is more ironic like the bat symbol, I think that this is more of the goal of this poster the image style is all based around irony and this contrasts extremely well. This poster also has joker quotes from the movie written I white all around the page but it is all around in creepy text. • Range of fonts are used • The fonts are not on a 2 dimensional planes they would be in print here they are used to show three dimensional depth they are also used to show folds in clothing and costume. The fonts are also treated with shadow and light and the message is obscured, not everything on the page is readable and this is drawing the viewer in but still hiding the full meaning. • The fonts are not used horizontally they flow with the contours of the character In this image a range of fonts are used in this image in order to create a range of different affects to the poster. Normally in a print product the fonts are two dimensional nut in this image a range of fonts are used to express more depth and to show that the film is three dimensional this is clever because it represent how the film is not two dimensional. Posters for other films that are released for example the avengers poster or a horror film poster like insidious they are extremely two dimensional only showing an image with not much complexion, but the way that this poster is designed to create imagery of a more complex plot symbolising the depth and complex story of the dark knight. The poster shows the fonts with light and darkness, showing that the connotations of this symbolises how the message of the poster is obscured.

Style sheet analysis Style sheet 1 The purpose of me looking at a colour scheme was so that I could set up a colour template/ board that I could use when creating my final piece of work, when going through it I only chose colours that I felt could help me with denotation and connotation as well as looking nice, I tried to make it so the colour schemes when I choose what to use I wanted to be able to look back at what I had created and use it to help me design the work and make it stand out. I chose 3 different colour schemes each containing a wide range of colours, the first colour scheme I designed my self going for colours that I felt could fit my work well and help create an eye catching design of context I explained the different techniques that I would be able to follow and replicate in my work from following this colour scheme. The second colour scheme is a pre designed colour scheme containing colours that are usually seen in horror posters like the shining's poster and also the Amityville horror poster. This colour scheme is one that I feel can help give me a gore filled affect on the poster and is why I chose it for the colour scheme as a whole. The final piece of colour scheme that I chose to use is from the dark knight where the joker is walking out of the hospital dressed as a nurse the reason that I chose the colour scheme from this scene is because of the contrast that is shown in this scene. Style sheet 2 the second style sheet was all about fonts, the main reason that I needed to do fonts is because a lot of my work such as poster and DVD cover is mainly focused around fonts and these fonts help express different a styles, moods, tones and ideas from what I was looking at I found a wide range of fonts that I could possibly use in my work and project and that I believe would fit well overall with the Poster and DVD cover also company logos and assist in setting up a art style that can help dennotates and connotates different parts of the work. The first section of fonts that I looked into where ones that are from the Microsoft word sections there was a lot of different options for fonts on Microsoft word so I chose fonts that had a creepy and eerie feeling to them and then analysed them. In the next section I chose fonts from a DVD cover that DVD cover being the Amityville horror and I looked at how another horror movie uses the fonts and how they are visible and what meaning they had to the movie in doing this I could see how I would use similar types of fonts in my works. The next fonts that I had chosen to look at was from the website dafont.com where they provide you with lots of different detailed fonts to choose from and download. I reviewed this because I felt that getting different fonts from different places gives me back up options of fonts in case I cant use a certain one and backup places to get the fonts. Style sheet 3 The 3rd style sheet that I made is focused around image styles and I think that this is the best way to appeal to the audience is by looking at big blockbuster films and from this seeing how big films set out there image styles attempt to do the same thing in order to appeal to the audience that these film appeal to I could use there image styles. The first image I looked at was from avengers infinity war and the reason that I chose the image is because its fascinating as to how the main villain is filled with colour instead of darkness almost like the joker but not as sinister, but I looked at the style of image and gained different ideas from you. The other image I chose was a dark knight poster because of the effort and detail put into this poster it has a perfect style to the image and looking into it I felt it really helped in seeing how one thing can make lots of different things. Overall I think that overall the different fonts, colours and schemes that I have found, I believe all of these different aspects that I looked into have helped me build a plan and structure that I can use in my work later when I am creating the poster and DVD cover I will be able to look at all of these different details and fitting the styles into the work in how it will help shape it out.
  • 7. Mise en scene • My production – to start with for my production I will need to make a shot list as part of my mise en scene to prepare for the film, the shot list will go in detail looking into how I will film different shots for different scenes, I will aim for the shots to be 1 to 2 seconds to start with for a panning shot (I will bracket each shot with a couple of seconds of pre roll and post roll for editing purposes, and of course the story and actors will drive the shot length.) however and I will go over every shot that I intend to use in the short film and explain how I intend to use the shots to shape out the short film, then I will plan how long the short film will be based off the amount of shots that are in it and from this planning I can determine the amount of shots I have to cut my films down into so that I can make the most sense out of the plot and story in the shortest amount of time, the maximum length of time that my short film can be is 5 minutes therefore, I will have to boil my work down to this time and the shot list will have to tell the story with each shot and the time must add up to 5 minutes by the end of the short film. I will also make a story board for the movie and this story board will be made by hand and it will depict the overall look of the film, it would take to long to go through scene by scene and so I feel that creating a basic story board where I show the characters and how they stand out on the set of the film using images. The story board will only go over the main scenes from the film and help demonstrate the set up to the movie. I will then explain the story boards and analyse them to make sure that I have an understanding of each of the scenes. I will also need to fill out a health ad safety sheet and the reason behind this is because I will need look into all different possibility's of how things can go wrong and how they can be fixed from this point of going wrong, the idea of health and safety is to look at what can harm you and how you would combat it. I then looked at problems and what could go wrong when making my production, I will look into the solutions to this issue.
  • 8. Layout 1 : PosterThe first layout that I have chosen is to create one that fits in to the poster that I intend to create for my end work. To start off my analysis of this layout I shall start with the company logos. The idea behind the first logo is that it is going to sit in the bottom left as the main company logo (the company that owns the rights) I will be making my own version of this the reason for this is because I feel that the look of the main company being t the bottom left of the screen then in the middle and on the right of the screen are helping hand companies all of these company logos are black with white and grey outlining the logo and I think that this adds a interesting colour scheme which is dark and set up to be, it will help connotate the the hidden depth to the short film if I where to use this dark scheme for example the white and grey represents a gritty hope in darkness and this colour scheme is creatively great because it means that there is meaning in something as little as the company logo and that’s what I want my poster to be all about hidden depth in colour schemes and fonts. The fonts of each company logo is bold and embedded this resembles each company to be bold and so when designing my logos I would include a similar font in each of the designs that I create for my work. I place the company logos on this poster at the bottom because when I design my company logos to add into the trailer I don’t just want them in the trailer I also want them on the poster and DVD cover and the reason for this is because of how it will set up a stronger link between all of my products. I then added in a review feature, this is to add something extra to the poster, big budget films do not normally a rating underneath on the poster that’s more on the DVD cover but low budget movies like to add in and include a review star sign if the films good but not got that much attention this can help boos the attention that it receives so I feel that adding this in as feature is a good way to represent how this is an attempt of a low budget production rather then a high budget production. I place it above the logos near the bottom of the page because form research I could see that this is where it would usually be placed. I added in the main character to the middle of the page because here he stands out, I chose an image of Shaun Bean from silent hill there was no particular reason for doing this. He is big on the screen and the reason for his is to show how he is the biggest part of the movie and he stands out the most I feel that this connotation Is important because t shows the audience who they are going to be watching for the majority of the movie. The background is a forest although my actual project is going to be set in a house the reason that I chose to set my layout image as a forest is to help demonstrate how scenery will affect where the character is placed and how he looks, for example he is looking lost on the image and behind him is a forest this shows that he is lost in a forest. The image behind the main character is a dark character, this person is covered and shrouded in darkness and is lurking behind the main character this helps show how I'm going to use the colour schemes and lighting to represent on the layout how the main villain is lurking in around in background and how they are a villain because of the colour of darkness around them. At the top of the page I added in a main title in a bright font, the movie name doesn't’t matter I chose it because of the font (yes I am aware that the movie is a comedy), the font is still bold and glimmering light which shows there's light in a dark movie. The last part is underneath that and Is an essential part and that’s the top casting.
  • 9. Layout 2 : DVD Cover This is the DVD cover layout I had a solid plan here in how I set it up, the way that I set this DVD cover up was by going over my research and understanding how they include different things in the DVD cover and I think that adding in these different aspects of the work befits the overall look of the work. To start with the background to this layout is a forest that has a wide view from the shot and I feel that this helps represent the depth o the movie if I was to include an image like this the depth of the trees helps portray this in the DVD cover. In the top left of the screen there is the essential synopsis this is placed in the top left because that was the most common place that I found it in while researching different similar existing products and so I placed a synopsis in that spot, the synopsis that I chose is red and black this colour scheme helps show that there is darkness and gore in the movie. I added an image in next to it the idea behind this is that on a DVD Cover they show an image of something cool on the screen this helps show visuals of the movie to the audience and prepare them for different scenes that would be in it. I then added on the back page a review like was on the poster as my research showed me that reviews should be there. The bottom of the back page has is the explanation of what the film would run on for example DVD basically something a DVD cover template should have. Above that is the top bill of casting another feature that was on the DVD covers that I researched and so I added it in as another part of the template. Down the middle I included the film title again same one from the poster template, it stands out on a shelf because of the blue colour and contrast scheme. Also down the middle is a age rating which is 18 years of age by BBFC and this means that the age rating is clear and visible to anyone picking up the box and to ensure that this is clear so the audience knows they age they would need to be. I added in 2 age ratings to make sure that the BBFC classification is clear to people. The rest of the front page of this DVD cover is pretty much the same as the poster it was added in to resemble the poster layout and link to it.
  • 12. Resources Equipment/ Props/ Costume needed Locations needed I will be using a 600d camera so that I can film my project, I am going to need this in order to film a multitude of different shots. And with this camera I will be able to film my short film, all scenes based off the shot list. I am going to be filming shots in different locations with the camera, to start with I will film some shots in my own home. Then I will be filming in a forest area, I will also be filming in an abandoned house that I will find and it will be filmed at night. I will also be needing a computer with all of the necessary programs so that I will be able to edit my work and create the short film, for this I will need the software of adobe premiere to be able to edit all of my work together. The location if this computer will be in two different places and these places will be college classrooms which will switch rooms between classes and timetable. And the second parts is at home if I am able to get the software. Costume and props, I will be needing people to wear casual clothes but I will need someone in a dark robe the reason for this is because I think that it is important that there is some sort of costume. The location for these will be used in the same place as the first part which is where the short film will be filmed and it will be stored at my house. I will need clocks for a props and also a broom stick, a flash light and a bat all of these things are useful because they will be key parts to the short film when I film the different shots these will be used throughout as part of my plan. The location of this will be the same as the above one because they will be used in filming and they will be stored at my house. I will need the software's of Photoshop that I can use to create the posters and company logos as well as DVD cover. This is important as it will link all of my work. This will all be done in York college as that is the only location that I will be able to get photoshop from is York college and so I will be completing these tasks at home I will be needing a spare battery for the camera as well as a normal battery for the camera the reason for this is because I will need the battery to use the camera and a spare one in case my main one runs out. This will be used at all the filming locations that I have and the reason I will be needing an audio device so that I can record the audio for lots of different scenes, and also sound affects This will be done at the locations that I will be filming at with the camera and in college for the other audio elements.
  • 13. Contingency Planning Potential Issue Solution my save files could corrupt and this would loose all my work which would be a potential issue it could happen as I move computers with different room changes throughout the day if this was to affect my save files it could cause big issues with my production on all levels of the product that I am making. I will have to create back up save files in different places and the reason for this is because if I end up loosing my work then I will have a back up in case of this. the cameras battery could die while I'm using it which would mean I would be unable to film the rest of my project, this would not be great and is a potential issue as I don’t know what the battery life is when I'm given it, also I may be along time filming and over multiple days this could mean I loose all of the charge on one of the days meaning I cant finish the filming. I will bring a spare battery in case the first battery ends up going dead this means that I am able to keep the filming my solo movie even if it ends up going dead like this. the cast and crew might not show up on the day that I need them or any days that I need them for filming which could mean I have to make alterations to the script and how the movie plays out in the end. I should have a back up plan and this would initial back up contacts in this case I will call in someone different to take the place of the main character. the system could all crash when I am editing all of my work together, if I was to be working on poster or DVD cover or even editing and the computer was to crash without me saving the work then I would loose everything that I had worked on. I will need to save the work every 2 minutes to make sure that I do not have the files lost or corrupted this is a good solution to a potential issue. when iv filmed the work the Sd card could corrupt loosing all of the footage when it comes to pulling it up onto my computer this would cause me to loose all of the filming that I will have done and this would ruin my work. I would have to make sure that the work is saving onto the sd card at all times and with this I can be able to correct the work. I could loose the back up files I create in case I loose the main files which would lead to all of my work being lost. make multiple back ups to make sure that this doesn’t happen.
  • 14. Health and Safety Potential Issue How will the issue be avoided? I could spill water over the computer or other electronics and this act could cause me to get electrocuted or the computer to be damaged. I will keep water or any liquid in general away from electronics. I could trip on wires while filming or working on a laptop for example I could trip over wires that is charging a piece of a equipment. I will avoid this by covering up the wires I have out or putting them in a safe space and also by watching where I step to make sure that I dot trip over them. you could fall back on your chair and hurt yourself this could be painful and not great for the future. by not swinging back on the chair so that you wont fall off the chair and hurt yourself. I could hurt my back if I am not sat at my computer properly being sat on the chair wrong could cause back pain. make sure that I'm sat at the computer the right way at all times and from this I will be able make sure I do not suffer from back pain. the camera could break and the glass from the lenses could cause damage to myself or others which would not be ideal. I will take care and make sure that I don’t break the camera and ensure that it doesn’t shatter. the cast could get hurt on the set of the short film by falling over or damaging something. make sure that the set is safe and secure so accidents cant happen here.
