Scene Description
By Luke Ross
Synopsis
The film is about a film copycat killer who is murdering people to recreate scenes
from his favourite Slasher films. The protagonist of this concept would be a
detective chasing around after a serial killer. The films genre is Horror/Thriller
and would be a Slasher film.
Connotations of the short film
The Connotations of my short film is to show how the Slasher film industry has
copied and reused their own material to the point of death, for example scream
in 1996 was a hit but because it made money they made multiple films loosing
touch of what made the original so great and this pattern can be seen in all
horror films even psycho had sequels that lost touch of what made the original
so great, the meaning behind this film and intro is that when you repeat a
concept over and over you ruin, a group is only as strong as its weakest member
in the long run and when they have one good film and three bad films the
audience forgets about the good film.
I will demonstrate this by telling a story of Slasher films by using their iconic
characters to create a story of how the Slasher style of film was started in 1960
by Hitchcock with his film ‘Psycho’ to the popularity in the 1980s to early 2000
and now present day Slasher films are no longer present and rare to find, the last
Slasher film f popularity was ‘Halloween’ (2018) which was a sequel to a film
series that started in 1978, Nothing new or original is made for Slasher films
which is a big difference from when there would new ideas and concepts for
Slasher film often taking them in new directions. As I / the killer move along the
timeline of Slasher films in the narration the hidden meaning will become
clearer.
Characters
The characters in this film are:
 Killer
 Detective
 Police officer 1
 Police officer 2
 Victim 1
 Victim 2
 Victim 3
 Victim 4
 Victim 5
 Victim 6
 Victim 7
 Photographer
Set up of script
Instead of a normal written script I am going to be scripting the scenes for each
of the seven murders. I shall also be including an explanation to what the
opening chase scene will entail and why it’s at the start.
Chase scene
The chase scene will open up a character running, the camera will follow the this
character as they run down the side of a house into a narrow area, then it will
show a masked figure behind the character at the end of the alley. The character
will force open a door into a garden and run up to the house, as the character
bashes the door violently they will realise no one is home and as she realises this
the camera will move around her head to see the masked figure in the doorway
and as she realises there is no escape the scene will end and it will move into the
intro for the movie. (There will be lots of fog around the area following the killer
to show how he is surrounded by mystery).
Intro
Seven murders styled after seven Slasher movies that tell the story of murders
committed, the seven murders follow the guide of seven deadly sins and each
crime scene will have an item that is symbolism to each of the seven deadly sins.
The Slasher films I will be using scenes from and the sins to go with them are:
 Psycho 1960 (shower Scene) – Pride
 Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974 (dinner table scene) – Envy
 Halloween 1978 (bedroom tombstone scene) – Wrath
 Friday the 13th 1980 – Gluttony
 A Nightmare on elm street 1984 – Lust
 Childs Play 1988 – Sloth
 Scream 1996 – Greed
Each murder scene will be styled after the film Watchmen 2009 intro credits, the
use of the style links to the connotation of the film and adds depth.
Psycho 1960 Scene
This scene will show Victim 1 dead in the shower dressed like Norman Bates
from the film. There would be bloodstains on the wall and the shower curtain
ripped off the wall, the time stamp of 1960 will be written across the wall. As the
scene zooms out it will show the detective looking at the crime scene in horror
then to two police officers making notes. As this is happening a flash will go off
from the camera slowly as the photographer takes a picture of the crime scene.
This scene will include a rubber lion rather than a rubber duck. The lion is
symbolism of pride, which is a link to the first act of the seven deadly sins.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974 Scene
This scene would be set at a dinner table; victim 2 would be dead and covered in
blood dressed like leather face, the camera would zoom out to see the detective
again this time looking disappointed and sad, with the same two officers making
notes. The flash would yet again go off from the photographer as he photographs
the crime scene it would light up the scene and then fade it to black. This scene
will feature some form of snake, the snake is symbolism of envy and this links
into the second of the seven deadly sins. 1974 will be written on the wall as time
stamp in this scene.
Halloween 1978 Scene
This scene would be set in the bedroom; the bed will have Victim 3 deceased and
dressed up to look like Michael Myers, there will be a tombstone placed next to
them with the time stamp R.I.P 1978. The scene will zoom out showing yet again
the detective looking annoyed and angry but he will be positioned closer to the
scene than the two before. The two officers will be their again making notes but
they will be positioned further away than normal. The camera will flash as the
Photographer takes another picture and the scene will fade to black. This scene
will feature some form of Dragon, which is the symbol of Wrath, which marks 3
of the seven deadly sins.
Friday The 13th 1980 Scene
This scene will be set by a lake, victim 4 will be sat next to a sign for a lake
deceased and dressed like Jason, the Lake sign would have 1980 time stamped
on it. The scene will as before zoom out but this time the detective will be stood
closer to the body than usual, he will look upset and frustrated. The two officers
will be there as usual but stood further away than normal. The flash from the
photographer’s camera would go off and the scene would fade to black. This
scene will feature a model of a pig next to the body, the pig is symbolism of
gluttony and this makes the 4th link to the seven deadly sins.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 1984 Scene
This scene would be set at a sign that would say ‘dream street’; victim 5 would be
sat by the street sign with an outfit that links to Freddy Krueger. The street floor
would have the time stamp 1984. The detective would now be positioned even
closer to the body; he would look angry, sad and frustrated. As the scene zooms
out the two officers would be stood without there notes looking sad this time
stood even further away than usual. This scene would feature a Goat by the body;
this is the animal that symbioses lust and would be the 5th link to the seven
deadly sins.
Childs Play 1988 Scene
This scene would be set in a bedroom and would have victim 6 dead by the desk,
on the victims lap would be a doll of chucky (or a doll that is similar in design to
chucky). The time stamp of 1988 will be on the draws next to the desk. In this
scene unlike the others the two police officers won’t be seen in the shot. The
detective will be closer to the body than usual and there will be more movement
in the scene. The detective will look determined and sad. The photographer will
take a picture of the crime scene and the as the scene lights up from the camera
flash a toy of a sloth will be seen, making it the 6th link to the 7 deadly sins. The
scene will be lit up for longer than usual and then it will slowly fade to black and
the scene will end.
Scream 1996 Scene
In the final scene and murder we return to the victim of the chase scene from the
beginning of the film. The character running from the killer has now been
murdered and dressed up as ghost face from scream. The character will be sat up
by the door that they tried to enter at the start of the film. On the patio of the
garden will be written in 1996 in blood. This scene will have two camera flashes
from the photographer however; the first will be of the victim as they found her.
The second is when the detective walks up to the body and removes the mask
revealing it to be the character from the beginning scene, and then the camera
will flash again for the final time. This scene will feature a garden ornament wolf,
the wolf is the symbol of greed and this makes the final link to the seven deadly
sins.
Detective and police officers hidden meanings
The detective getting closer to the victims as the crime scenes go on, symbolise
how the case is becoming more and more personal. The fact that the officers get
further away is symbolism of how the murders are driving him further away
from the police department, as he gets closer to the victims and the killer.
Fog in each scene hidden meaning
I will use fog in each scene; the first scene will have lots of fog around the killer
as he chances the victim. There will be fog in every scene from this, however as
the detectives moves along the crime scenes the amount of fog around the body
will reduce. The reason for this is that fog symbolises mystery, at the start there’s
mystery behind the killers motives and who is but as the story goes on the
reduction symbolises how what the killer is doing becomes clearer to the
audience and the detective.
Seven Deadly sins Meaning
The symbolism to each of the seven deadly sins is to tell the audience that there
is motive and links between the people that the killer is killing, this is important
to the detective of the story as it helps him work out a pattern in the chain of
murders.
Killers M.O
The killers M.O is to dress up his victims in the costumes of his favourite killers,
while recreating the crime scenes from the movies the killers are linked to, he
also leaves a time stamp. This is so that the killer can tell the police a hidden
story as he goes along on his killing spree.

  • 1. Scene Description By Luke Ross Synopsis The film is about a film copycat killer who is murdering people to recreate scenes from his favourite Slasher films. The protagonist of this concept would be a detective chasing around after a serial killer. The films genre is Horror/Thriller and would be a Slasher film. Connotations of the short film The Connotations of my short film is to show how the Slasher film industry has copied and reused their own material to the point of death, for example scream in 1996 was a hit but because it made money they made multiple films loosing touch of what made the original so great and this pattern can be seen in all horror films even psycho had sequels that lost touch of what made the original so great, the meaning behind this film and intro is that when you repeat a concept over and over you ruin, a group is only as strong as its weakest member in the long run and when they have one good film and three bad films the audience forgets about the good film. I will demonstrate this by telling a story of Slasher films by using their iconic characters to create a story of how the Slasher style of film was started in 1960 by Hitchcock with his film ‘Psycho’ to the popularity in the 1980s to early 2000 and now present day Slasher films are no longer present and rare to find, the last Slasher film f popularity was ‘Halloween’ (2018) which was a sequel to a film series that started in 1978, Nothing new or original is made for Slasher films which is a big difference from when there would new ideas and concepts for Slasher film often taking them in new directions. As I / the killer move along the timeline of Slasher films in the narration the hidden meaning will become clearer. Characters The characters in this film are:  Killer  Detective  Police officer 1  Police officer 2  Victim 1  Victim 2  Victim 3  Victim 4  Victim 5  Victim 6  Victim 7  Photographer
  • 2. Set up of script Instead of a normal written script I am going to be scripting the scenes for each of the seven murders. I shall also be including an explanation to what the opening chase scene will entail and why it’s at the start. Chase scene The chase scene will open up a character running, the camera will follow the this character as they run down the side of a house into a narrow area, then it will show a masked figure behind the character at the end of the alley. The character will force open a door into a garden and run up to the house, as the character bashes the door violently they will realise no one is home and as she realises this the camera will move around her head to see the masked figure in the doorway and as she realises there is no escape the scene will end and it will move into the intro for the movie. (There will be lots of fog around the area following the killer to show how he is surrounded by mystery). Intro Seven murders styled after seven Slasher movies that tell the story of murders committed, the seven murders follow the guide of seven deadly sins and each crime scene will have an item that is symbolism to each of the seven deadly sins. The Slasher films I will be using scenes from and the sins to go with them are:  Psycho 1960 (shower Scene) – Pride  Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974 (dinner table scene) – Envy  Halloween 1978 (bedroom tombstone scene) – Wrath  Friday the 13th 1980 – Gluttony  A Nightmare on elm street 1984 – Lust  Childs Play 1988 – Sloth  Scream 1996 – Greed Each murder scene will be styled after the film Watchmen 2009 intro credits, the use of the style links to the connotation of the film and adds depth. Psycho 1960 Scene This scene will show Victim 1 dead in the shower dressed like Norman Bates from the film. There would be bloodstains on the wall and the shower curtain ripped off the wall, the time stamp of 1960 will be written across the wall. As the scene zooms out it will show the detective looking at the crime scene in horror then to two police officers making notes. As this is happening a flash will go off from the camera slowly as the photographer takes a picture of the crime scene. This scene will include a rubber lion rather than a rubber duck. The lion is symbolism of pride, which is a link to the first act of the seven deadly sins. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974 Scene This scene would be set at a dinner table; victim 2 would be dead and covered in blood dressed like leather face, the camera would zoom out to see the detective again this time looking disappointed and sad, with the same two officers making notes. The flash would yet again go off from the photographer as he photographs the crime scene it would light up the scene and then fade it to black. This scene
  • 3. will feature some form of snake, the snake is symbolism of envy and this links into the second of the seven deadly sins. 1974 will be written on the wall as time stamp in this scene. Halloween 1978 Scene This scene would be set in the bedroom; the bed will have Victim 3 deceased and dressed up to look like Michael Myers, there will be a tombstone placed next to them with the time stamp R.I.P 1978. The scene will zoom out showing yet again the detective looking annoyed and angry but he will be positioned closer to the scene than the two before. The two officers will be their again making notes but they will be positioned further away than normal. The camera will flash as the Photographer takes another picture and the scene will fade to black. This scene will feature some form of Dragon, which is the symbol of Wrath, which marks 3 of the seven deadly sins. Friday The 13th 1980 Scene This scene will be set by a lake, victim 4 will be sat next to a sign for a lake deceased and dressed like Jason, the Lake sign would have 1980 time stamped on it. The scene will as before zoom out but this time the detective will be stood closer to the body than usual, he will look upset and frustrated. The two officers will be there as usual but stood further away than normal. The flash from the photographer’s camera would go off and the scene would fade to black. This scene will feature a model of a pig next to the body, the pig is symbolism of gluttony and this makes the 4th link to the seven deadly sins. A Nightmare on Elm Street 1984 Scene This scene would be set at a sign that would say ‘dream street’; victim 5 would be sat by the street sign with an outfit that links to Freddy Krueger. The street floor would have the time stamp 1984. The detective would now be positioned even closer to the body; he would look angry, sad and frustrated. As the scene zooms out the two officers would be stood without there notes looking sad this time stood even further away than usual. This scene would feature a Goat by the body; this is the animal that symbioses lust and would be the 5th link to the seven deadly sins. Childs Play 1988 Scene This scene would be set in a bedroom and would have victim 6 dead by the desk, on the victims lap would be a doll of chucky (or a doll that is similar in design to chucky). The time stamp of 1988 will be on the draws next to the desk. In this scene unlike the others the two police officers won’t be seen in the shot. The detective will be closer to the body than usual and there will be more movement in the scene. The detective will look determined and sad. The photographer will take a picture of the crime scene and the as the scene lights up from the camera flash a toy of a sloth will be seen, making it the 6th link to the 7 deadly sins. The scene will be lit up for longer than usual and then it will slowly fade to black and the scene will end.
  • 4. Scream 1996 Scene In the final scene and murder we return to the victim of the chase scene from the beginning of the film. The character running from the killer has now been murdered and dressed up as ghost face from scream. The character will be sat up by the door that they tried to enter at the start of the film. On the patio of the garden will be written in 1996 in blood. This scene will have two camera flashes from the photographer however; the first will be of the victim as they found her. The second is when the detective walks up to the body and removes the mask revealing it to be the character from the beginning scene, and then the camera will flash again for the final time. This scene will feature a garden ornament wolf, the wolf is the symbol of greed and this makes the final link to the seven deadly sins. Detective and police officers hidden meanings The detective getting closer to the victims as the crime scenes go on, symbolise how the case is becoming more and more personal. The fact that the officers get further away is symbolism of how the murders are driving him further away from the police department, as he gets closer to the victims and the killer. Fog in each scene hidden meaning I will use fog in each scene; the first scene will have lots of fog around the killer as he chances the victim. There will be fog in every scene from this, however as the detectives moves along the crime scenes the amount of fog around the body will reduce. The reason for this is that fog symbolises mystery, at the start there’s mystery behind the killers motives and who is but as the story goes on the reduction symbolises how what the killer is doing becomes clearer to the audience and the detective. Seven Deadly sins Meaning The symbolism to each of the seven deadly sins is to tell the audience that there is motive and links between the people that the killer is killing, this is important to the detective of the story as it helps him work out a pattern in the chain of murders. Killers M.O The killers M.O is to dress up his victims in the costumes of his favourite killers, while recreating the crime scenes from the movies the killers are linked to, he also leaves a time stamp. This is so that the killer can tell the police a hidden story as he goes along on his killing spree.
