2. The method I used in order to gain feedback for my digipak
was that of Facebook. The reason I chose this method is
because Facebook contains my target audience and as a result
the feedback given will be an accurate interpretation as the age
range and demographic of my friends is the same as the age
range and demographic my product is aimed at.
The following answer received highlights how Caden praises
the use of my editing skills in order to cut up the image, giving
an almost dimension effect. The main reason I used this style of
editing was based upon the title of my album being
‘Dimensions’, and by using a design which corresponds with
this a clear relationship is presented between the two.
Furthermore, Caden has also commented on the simplistic
design I aimed for. This being the color scheme of a white
background with black text layered on top. The main reason I
chose to follow this simplistic design was to compliment the
image editing and as a result make the image stand out as the
main focus of the panels of the digipak. It should also be
mentioned that my artist appears in all panels of the digipak
image and by making this the main focus it further sells the
artists brand to the audience.
3. As previously mentioned on the last slide, the use of the
cut out effect has been highlighted as a key success of
my digipak. Through reinforcing the link between the title
of the album, ’Dimensions’ and the of the images of the
album I showed a clear relationship between the two.
Furthermore, the simplistic layout/ design format I aimed
for has also been commented on stating how they work
well together. Again, this increased the overall
professionalism of my product in comparison to industry
standard products from the same genre. From the
feedback received here it is clear to me that I created
successful ancillary products which not only
complimented the music video, but could be deemed to
compete with that of professional products. The fact that
no feedback has been given with regards to areas that
could be developed showed how I created a successful
ancillary product.
4. All three of the people who gave me feedback have
commented on how they liked the editing technique of
slicing up the images into multiple sections in order to
give the appearance of different dimensions.
Furthermore, my simplistic layout and design has also
been commented on as a success due to this format
making the images stand out. As mentioned on the
previous slide this enables the artist to constantly be the
main focus and as a result stand out, selling the artist.
Lewis has also mentioned how he feels the fonts used
were appropriate. Following through with the idea of a
simple layout I aimed to use two simplistic fonts which
were not fancy in terms of appearance, with the title of
the album appearing in bold. To add to that, the fonts
were kerned in order to expend them to the same length
as the image, without having to alter the actual size of the
font.
5. FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS
Although no direct feedback has been received concerning possibly future
improvements. I believe from a personal perspective, if I was going to make
improvements to the digipak I would aim to have the inside panels feature the artist
in completely contrasting clothing and have the images taken in real world
environments during everyday life. By showcasing the artist in different clothing it
takes away the ‘photoshoot’ feel of the images, making the artist appear more
natural and raw (reinforcing the simplistic design I have aimed for throughout my
product.) To add to that, in the future I would aim to use images which show the
artist in day to day life, not only would this also take away the photoshoot vibe that
is created with my current images. But it would also allow the audience to relate to
the product a lot more and almost feel a relationship with the artist as he would
appear more human and in touch with the real world.
